The problem that we’re in now is that with 39 Trillion in debt, we can’t stand anymore tax cuts. “Trickle Down” is a proven long-term failure.  Yes, it gives the economy a short term bump, like when Reagan cut taxes and primed the economy in the early 80s… but it lead to the tax increases under HW Bush that had to happen. We’re about 10 years too late on increasing taxes to slow the growth of the debt, and it’s gonna look like the austerity period in Greece around here if it ever happens. Unfortunately, we’ve got the Bankrupter-in-Chief calling the shots and everybody on both sides of the aisle in Congress knows that the only way to keep their job is by promising gifts to the voters who are largely selfish and stupid.

Tariffs aren’t the answer, tax cuts aren’t the answer…. We’ve got to cut our spending and that’s harder than ever now that the interest in our debt is the second largest component of our federal spending.

At this point more tax cuts are like getting a payday loan to buy a steak when you’ve already got them all over town.

Cut spending, but not just on the other guys’ projects… cut something you love.

Our spending is a National Security Issue. Our government can’t even pass an audit if it wanted to because it’s so big it can’t even police itself. The spending fraud is staggering.

Steadily promising DOGE checks, Tariff checks, and no income tax on anything we can think of (that will get a vote).

I wish they would channel that same energy toward addressing the Epstein predators who are truly out there.

As of early 2026, the Trump administration has significantly reduced the federal workforce, with reports indicating a decline of approximately 220,000 to over 300,000 federal positions since the start of his second term

There’s some of your cut spending, how many presidents have talked about shrinking the government, and look here

but of course….no credit given

I support this, regardless of who’s in office.

I’m concerned that the cuts have often appeared to be politically based, as in punishing groups/agencies we don’t support, while ignoring bloat in agencies that we do support.

I’d like to see a blanket, 10% reduction in spending in every department mandated, with the stipulation that IF cuts result in a loss of services to the American people (closing national parks during a shutdown, for instance), the head of that agency will be removed from his/her/their post.

Liberals think about themselves, not their country. They want socialism, like Mamdani’s NYC. Hochul wants physician assisted suicide. I wonder what criteria they need to exterminate? Keep hating Trump libs, it’s coming.

When we talk about bloated spending at the federal level, it’s important to remember where that money goes. It’s salaries for government employees, grants to local governments, payments to contractors and suppliers who rely on government contracts for their existence.  Heck, then those payments to employees and contractors create economic gains are then taxed. Cutting spending reduces tax revenues, too. It’s a vicious spiral.

The debt is money that we borrowed to maintain a lifestyle that we can’t afford. Our very standard of living is a lie… we haven’t produced enough to pay for it.  When we tighten our belts, it’s not just government that’s going to feel it… we all are going to feel it.

If you want to see blanket cuts, get the activist judges out of the way.

Boomers.  And I think we can all agree that it’s an idea that’s worth exploring, right?

I don’t know your age, but you either hate your parents or grandparents, or in the least, don’t respect them. The generation that made the world safe is mostly gone (WWII). They produced the boomers…..myself. Me and my generation will be gone soon enough and there will be absolutely no respect, morality, honesty, or justice. Hello, it’s already happening. Look at NYC and California. I never hear any libs complain about either of those…..why? With all its problems, this is the greatest civilization in the history of the world. Don’t be a Nero.

Judges interpret the laws passed by Congress. If the cuts were originated in the House of Reps as the constitution intended, there would be no need for the President to make cuts that could be turned over by judges because those cuts were in violation of the legislation passed by Congress.

Say what you want about Texas, but we’re obligated to spend no more than we take in… a balanced budget is a part of our constitution.  We don’t even try to pass a budget at the federal level anymore-hence the shutdown that we’re in again, pending another increase in the debt limit. And our conservative president wants to just do away with the debt limit so the government can just borrow us back into servitude to the rest of the planet.

Y’all literally did this to us. Canceled pensions, ran up debts, etc… Baby Boomers were self entitled jerks who took full advantage of the American Dream and made sure that no one else coming behind them will have a shot at the same thing.

And there’s never been a more “Nero” president than the boomer that’s in office right now… tearing down the East Wing of the White House to build a gilded ballroom during the last shutdown.  The fact that you would bring up Nero and not recognize the resemblance of DJT to Nero is just more proof of the disconnect between boomers and everybody else.

I applaud him for doing that but considering we have 2.8 million federal employees it isn’t enough especially when you spend like a drunken sailor. The Epstein Administration needs to cut more.

So you do hate your kinfolk. I notice you dodged my Cali/NYC comment. Thats par for the course. To blame the generation that saved the world from Nazi Germany (he came very close) for their shortcomings is ludicrous. Indoctrination began in the 70s and it has taken hold, probably produced you. I’m sure you won’t miss me when I’m gone, but my values will sorely be missed because you were taught no respect for values. Crying about things not going exactly your way, blaming everyone else in the process while offering no real solutions, is the liberal way, since you respect no one else.

I’ll give you partial credit for trying. Also, because Trump IS spending like a drunken sailor as I’ve mentioned before, and Congress won’t cut.

This is the hidden content, please

Back to Epstein.

How ? - there are several law suits currently in progress challenging the cuts he did make.  If he made more, it would get even worse.

Congress won't do it because Republicans don't have enough votes with Republicans in left leaning districts.

So our government has gotten to the point where it’s illegal to fire someone because of the government be bloated? Lol

Dang our government is more broken than I thought.

Blame FDR. But—especially—blame Truman. They set the stage & created the Administrative State. Truman created the Economic Council after WW2, and began to interject the Federal Government into every aspect of our lives, while also controlling the economy.

Once people get power, they don’t relinquish it easily if ever. The beast continues to feed the beast.

Not sure Republicans would do it anyway. They’re as bad as the Dems now. They may say they want cuts. But, they’re perfectly content to sit back until someone else does the cutting and takes the heat.

House Freedom Caucus is the only group even trying to hold a budget. They’re the Ron Paul’s of this generation. Everyone calls them crazy troublemakers.
