out of curiosity, how does one become a moderator on here?

You must have over 1,000 posts, have positive karma and receive a nomination from at least 4 other moderators. Then you have to submit to an online interview that is reviewed by the owners of the site. If they agree for you to be a moderator, you send in your registration fees and once they are accepted, you can moderate.

If you believe any of that, I have some land to sell you also at the beach, just as soon as the tide goes out......

what is karma and why do some say +3/-2  and some  +45/-43??? and wut does it do

It does or means absolutely nothing. It is just people that either agree or disagree with a post you made or maybe they just like or dislike you. The (+) is people giving your applause and the (-) is people booing. Take it to mean what you want. Some people actually seem to be worried about their karma and others take their low rating as a badge of honor for being so obnoxious.

i'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but i think the answer is this...

someone with +3/-2 has been applauded 3 times and smited 2 times.

someone with +45/-43 has been applauded 45 times and smited 43 times.

The more you post, the more feedback you'll get, whether good or bad.

How do you insert a web link in a post? I tried to copy and paste but the link would not open.

Thanks

Mat

Click on the little icon above that looks like this url.gif. Then when the window pops up, paste your link in that box and click OK. Then another box will pop up and you type the name that you want to use for the link. Click OK again.

Is it true to be a moderator you have to have 1,000 posts? bc i have a lot of inside info on track, band, and basketball, but I dont't know if that means anything to help the sight. I know I won't have 1,000 posts any time soon, so if you have to have it to be a moderator, then i'm out of luck.

No you just have to have a stronger opinion than anyone else's and be ready to lock threads, ban posters if they disagree and delete accounts.  In other words, judge and jury.  Are you ready for that?  There are good moderators and there are self titled ENFORCERS!!

This is a privately owned site paid for with private money. The owner of the site has chosen a few moderators to help police the site. In doing so the owner has laid down rules (in this very thread) for everyone and in private discussions, rules for the moderators doing their jobs.

This site is not a public service and is private. All rules and all moderators remain at the discretion of the owner. There is no right to freedom of speech on a private forum like this one. If a moderator starts deleting posts or banning members simply on a whim against the rules for moderators, that moderator will be removed by the owner.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
