What's needed? An increase in the UIL's power? Not at all. Leave it to the individual districts to punish with the advisement of the UIL.

I agree. I have no problem with this. For certain offenses, a permanent ban is warranted/necessary. IMO, for egregious acts, I think the UIL should step in, investigate the action, and deliver a firm punishment. Sometimes, a school district can be "too close" to the situation to give an unbiased punishment.

I agree with Tigers2010. We need to protect officials and the UIL needs the authority to see that they are protected.
