Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Douglass scores 3 runs off 4 hits. Douglass leads 4-1 going into the 4th. Quote
Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Douglass scores 2 more, up 6 to 1. We have got to start hitting. There are no excuses, but kids slipping all over the field. At least 3 of the hits, and 3 of the runs are off players having a play and ending up on their back. Quote
Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Sophomore pitcher Daniel Bean is done, here's the line for him: 24 batters faced / 12 first pitch strikes, 4 walks, 5 K's, 6 runs allowed, 8 hits, 2 doubles (first extra base hits allowed all year), and 84 pitches..... After pitching 5 innings on Wednesday. Freshman Tyler Torres on the hill now. Quote
Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 After 5 complete, Douglass still up 6-1. Quote
Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Sparks....one of our players gets hit on an inside curve ball and the ump calls him out. Ok - I disagree with the call - but that's what it was. Stands get involved, and the Douglass coach charges the fence at one of our parents. Douglass players - 5 of them pour out the dugout. UIL rule says they should be tossed - we win by forfeit. Ump says no - I disagree with that one. Quote

BS Wildcats Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Did he lean into it?The only way he would be out is if it was a 2 strike pitch and ump said batter was in strike zone when struck by pitch. If this wasn't the call, ump was wrong for calling batter out. Quote

Have spoke with him on a couple of occasions, and would have never expected this from him or his team. Quote
Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Did he lean into it? R-hand batter. Curve started at him in the box, and broke toward the plate. I am sitting directly behind. He rollEd into it, never went across the plate. He wasn't crowding, and it hit him in the box. Like I said earlier - judgement call and I disagreed but we didn't lose off that. It killed an inning where we had scored a run, and had momentum and 2 runners on. We have to hit better. Douglass is a very solid ball-club. Quote

Chester86 Posted April 18, 2015 Author Report Posted April 18, 2015 Yessir, I know the rule you are talking about. Just wasn't over the plate, and was making a genuine effort to avoid getting hit. Quote

pinelandflash Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 What happened? Sounds like a brou-ha-ha almost broke out....... Quote
pinelandflash Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Everyone can lose it. Really surprised me. They can play. Yes. Year in, year out they are a solid team that is a force to be reckoned with in region 3. Haven't seen them play this year. Quote
BS Wildcats Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 What happened? I have seen similar behavior from them before. WS played them in the playoffs two years ago, and the star of the team, Gunnar Baker, got thrown out of the game for cussing the home plate umpire(heard him with my own two ears tell the ump a strike call was BS, only he used the word itself). Then the coach (it's still Baker, right?) argues the call and gets tossed. The fans were irate but none charged the field and the dugout didn't empty. That is Price-Carlisle you are thinking about. Quote
pinelandflash Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 That is Price-Carlisle you are thinking about. Yes you are right I misquoted. I corrected myself. Thanks for the catch. Quote
pinelandflash Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 That is Price-Carlisle you are thinking about. We played Carlisle two years ago and Douglass last year. Douglass was a solid team last year but I haven't seen them this year. They still have Westbrook as a pitcher or did he graduate? He was one of the ones who shut us down last year.... Quote
