Steven Avery Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 Wonder if it was the same group of umps that called 3-4 balks in the GCM Lumberton game the week before. A balk was called that scored the winning run. Quote
Banned Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 I'm almost certain that Leggett was behind the plate. If so, I see where the squeezing of the strike zone from the Cougars perspective was interpreted seeing how if it were him his kid graduated from Barbers Hill and was a pitcher. There always seem to be some shady stuff going on at the Hill but it's all good, a loss can only help ground and Humble you every once in a while ala CE King. Just ask the nine or so football winners on the baseball team what it'll do. Speaking of Humble, they may in for a bludgering come Friday night after this loss.. Quote
crosbymom Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 A tough loss for Crosby - lots of umpire squeezing of the strike zone for both sides. A balk was called after a squeeze play attempting to score the go ahead run, catcher dropped the ball and then umpire called the Balk, so runner was safe at home which ever call you want to use. Crosby can what if that game all night long, Crosby should have never been in that position - Game should have been won in the 7th. Great game by both teams. Quote
Steven Avery Posted April 10, 2015 Report Posted April 10, 2015 That is not right for Leggett to be umping any Barbers Hill games, I have seen the same thing out of him when BH is involved and have seen him be extremely tough on any Baytown or surrounding team that doesn't have BH on their hat. Another one of their guys who is a football coach at BH is umpiring a lot in Baytown as well and he is just as bad. Those guys need to go ump out of town as I don't think they can be partial to any team locally. As a general rule the umpiring has been horrible all year behind the plate. Every game I'm seeing pitches that are at the knee being called balls. If I am a high school ump Im having a little larger zone vs having a tight zone, no one wants to see walks and no ump should force the pitcher to throw it belt high to get any calls. I'm almost certain that Leggett was behind the plate.
