I guess the Beaumont Enterprise's story about PN-G being the only team in SE Texas to advance was a little premature, or lack of research.

 

The Port Neches-Groves 7-on-7 team is the only one from Southeast Texas to advance to the 2014 Texas 7-on-7 Championships being held in College Station on the second weekend in July.

Yeah, no hate for Kountze, sorry to burst your bubble. Just didn't know they were also in the qualifying for it. Also, the article was published a few days before Kountze qualified.

 

Congrats to the Lions. There will be a story in the paper later on this week.

HAVE  a question, looking at teams in the state tournament, how are the schools divided? Is it 6A and  5A together, to me it looks like most of the teams are 6A?  Surely there must be another division or two?

In previous years, it was 5A & 4A in one division and smaller schools in another division.  I would assume it is the same with Div 1 now being called 6A & 5A.

My brother plays for Langham Creek and caught Allen in his pool. Last year he made it to the final 8 at Austin. This year doesn't look so promising.

All depends on the SQT you go to.

Qualifying doesnt correlate because some SQTs are easier to qualify than others etc.  Now performing at the State Tournament is a different animal, teams who do well at state generally do very well in the fall.
