Adding to that , the only teams Ned gave up more than 21 points to were Angleton and Georgetown, two teams that advanced at least to the third round of the playoffs.  ( For people in SC that is the round after round 2).

I think the NED D of 2001 (state-semi year) was ok other than the spanking yall got by Lincoln in P.A. on their Senior Night.  ;)

They gave up more points than the 2012 team did, and probably more yardage.  Yeah, the Lincoln game was ugly, i think we were looking ahead instead of concentrating on the team in front of us.

That was a Suggs coached team that whipped Ned.  The following year, 47-7 Central.  Correlation?  Suggs coached team....

Played on the 83 SFA team that gave up 6 points per game.  We were dubbed the Attack Pack.  Freshman year @UTA, I saw a Dangerfield letterman jacket from the same year.  1983 3A State Champions.  550-8.

im surprised that the png teams from 1974-1977 wasnt mentioned , i mean they went to state or semifinals in those 4 dominate years . i havent heard about the westbrook team of 82 , beaumont hebert team of 1976 . the question i have is can you have a dominate defense and not win state and be considered a great defense ? french in 1984 had a swarming defense , i swear it would be  11 dudes making a tackle every play during their playoffs run when they shared the state title with odessa permian .

The 1985 Yates Lions were the greatest defense tx has ever seen.
Over Daingerfield 1983?
yates was the first team in 5a classification, to allow its opponents only 84 points in a whole season. I don't think it's been bettered or matched.
Evidently Dangerfield was good, but Yates is still the best 5a has ever seen.
