  1. OF plays the toughest schedule possible. If we scheduled Central twice then coach A. doesn't view them as a weak team. It works the same for the Central coach. If she scheduled OF twice then she knew they would benefit from playing us. Tough competition gets you ready for a possible playoff run. Hopefully the game benefited both teams. There will always be talk. That's sports........................ Are you telling me that the world doesn't revolve around Orangefield?
  2. Let that be your chastising lesson for the day. All you geeks get off of that computer and get to making a better life for us all.... while I sit here and talk about high school football like Al Bundy.
  3. all this talk is fun, but don't most good athletes eventually, sooner or later, move into real life situations. Does the geek spend the rest of his life talking about his high school accomplishments? Keep this all in perspective. Being a good football player doesn't mean squat!! Move on, mature and make a difference off the field.
  4. How come KFDM Coop can remove my post? He talks about someone and it's OK and I talk about hime and he removes my post! To find out more PM "KFDM Coop" and ask>
  5. its up to your coach to nominate them.......talk to your HC
  6. Yankees win bid to talk to Japanese pitcher Yankees win rights to Igawa for $26,000,194 By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer November 28, 2006 NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees got a chance to sign a Japanese pitcher on their second try this offseason, winning the rights Tuesday to Kei Igawa after losing out to the Boston Red Sox two weeks ago for Daisuke Matsuzaka. New York's offer of $26,000,194 -- the last three digits matching his strikeout total this year -- was the highest bid among major league teams for Igawa, and it was accepted Tuesday by his Japanese team, the Hanshin Tigers. "The Yankees are a team with a lot of tradition," Igawa said at a news conference in Osaka. "They get a lot of media attention, like the Tigers do. I was surprised to hear the team bid that much for me, and I feel like today I've taken another step toward realizing my dream." Boston bid $51.1 million earlier this month to win the right to negotiate with Seibu Lions' Matsuzaka, the MVP of the World Baseball Classic and a possible No. 1 starter. A 27-year-old left-hander, Igawa could compete for a spot at the back of New York's rotation next season behind Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina and Randy Johnson. Carl Pavano, coming off 1 1/2 seasons of injuries, also would be in the rotation if healthy, and the Yankees have expressed possible interest in signing free agents Ted Lilly or Gil Meche. New York has until midnight at the end of Dec. 28 to work out a contract with Igawa's agent, Arn Tellem -- who also represents Yankees left fielder Hideki Matsui. Igawa allowed a home run to the New York Mets' David Wright this month during an exhibition game between Japanese and major league All-Stars. "We have been following Kei Igawa's very successful and accomplished career in Japan, and we are excited about the opportunity to begin the negotiating process with him," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said in a statement. The Yankees pay Hanshin only if they reach an agreement with Igawa. "I am very pleased to have the rights to sign him for the Yankees," owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement issued by spokesman Howard Rubenstein. The Yankees bid between $32 million and $33 million for Matsuzaka. The Red Sox have until midnight at the end of Dec. 14 to agree to a deal with Matsuzaka and his agent, Scott Boras. "I'm looking forward to having a pitching duel with Matsuzaka," Igawa said. "I know the fans there have very high expectations and I'll do my best to live up to them." After the bidding on Igawa closed Monday, the Tigers were informed of the amount of the high bid, but not which team made it. The Mets bid between $15 million and $16 million for Igawa, a baseball official said on condition of anonymity because the amounts of losing bids are not disclosed. Igawa went 14-9 last season with a 2.97 ERA. He tied for the Central League lead in strikeouts -- he won strikeout titles in 2002 and 2004. Igawa, the Central League's 2003 MVP, has an 86-60 record with a 3.15 ERA. He would have to play in Japan for three more seasons before he could become a free agent. AP Sports Writer Jim Armstrong in Tokyo contributed to this report.
  7. Being on the team last year and I can say this for all the seniors that graduated, it's good to see the guys getting back to where we got last year. I got a chance to watch the team for the second time this year last weekend and with Chavis at strong side LB, Coleman in the middle, and Stelly on the weakside this defense should stay stout against the run since the defense is designed for the LB's to make tackles. Defensively against the pass, Chatman and Falgout need to show some leadership this week and talk their guys up and get them ready to play. Offensively all I can say is wow. Michaels tore it up against the varsity defense last year in practice so we knew he was gonna be good but my goodness... And Albert was doing the same thing last year he's doing this year, he just had a senior in front of him... That being said, against Cy-Falls theyll put up respectable games... As long as Powdrill, Banks and the rest of the receiving corps catch the ball, I don't see the offense having trouble cause they will always be able to run the ball... #11 just needs to use his head and make smart throws... Cy-Falls had a close game last week and I talked to a guy that graduated from Falls last year and he's telling me everyone is talking about playing Katy that's on the team... That being said, WB in a close HIGH scoring game...
  8. Ok I know this may will cause some talk, but I think Brett Ramsey should have got 2nd team QB before Dishon. These are the stats I found from the Orange Leader. Dishon 1600 Total Yards 13 TD's Ramsey 1966 Total Yards 28 TD's
  9. Hello and welcome to the All Southeast Texas Football Team Nomination Forum. In this forum you will have the opportunity to express who you believe should be on the team. Please be sure include the player's name, class standing, team, stats, and any other information that should be known. The first wave of nominations will end on December 20. The following day, December 21, we will have our nomination show on our radio show SETXsports Talk Live. On the show the finalists for each position will be announced. Following the show we will take the top finalists from each position, and then place those players in a poll for the masses to vote in. On December 30, 2006, voting will end for the All Southeast Texas Team. On January 3, 2006 we will release our All Southeast Texas Team, on SETXsports Live and also on KFDM Channel 6. Please note that while we will take into consideration the votes of the SETXsports.com members, we wont neccesarily choose the player with the most votes to be on the All Southeast Texas Team. This is done so that smaller schools will not be at a disadvantage. Opinions of Coaches and SETXsports Staff Members will also be taken into consideration. Lastly, we reserve the right to add different award categories if we feel it is neccessary. As always, we will try and recognize as many players as we can. Just because a player is not a finalist, doesn't neccesarily mean he wont be a part of the team in some way. We take pride in having the opportunity to recognize local athletes for their accomplishments. So Let the Nominating Begin!!

  14. Sorry about the delay. I got a chance to talk to my son after the game. Final.... Mart 49 EC 21
  15. I have coached against SLC and have seen Euless Trinity in person.......SLC by 20.........SLC has been looking foward to this game for years so they can hush all the talk about the "if Trinity" BS.......There is not a team in Southeast Texas that can compare to SLC .......if you watch North Shore or Westfield play, you see some good teams with great athletes......When you watch SLC, you see some very good athletes that are a well oiled machine......There is no way anyone down there can imagine what it is like to play those people......Trinity is much the same way but not quite as explosive.......Look for SLC to make a statement in this game....... And by the way.....if you have the chance to go to this game, you better get there early......I look for around 50,000 to be there......
  16. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'm thankful we have a site like this to talk sports 24/7 7 days a week.
  17. The Balla reminds me of one of those hard nosed Dallas Cowboy fans. They still talk smack even after they have gotten that tail spanked. Dallas pulled off the BIG UPSET last week, and I hope Kirbyville can do the same this week. Make some noise 21-3A. I have to hand it to Ya Balla, some of your post may not show much class, but you have been the biggest supporter Kirbyville has had on this forum all year!!! He's only been wrong when it counts A couple of times (WOS and SILSBEE)!!!! TAKE IT TO EM WILDCATS!!!
  18. Here’s a question for all you HS football experts. Especially for you experts with recent experience in HS football. I’m going to describe a trick play and ask, “Could this play be run in the modern game? Would the officials allow it? And would the other team be fooled? Let’s start with a little historical background. One thing must be understood. There once was an occasion when a HS team really did run this play. It really happened. And when the QB crossed the goal line with the ball the officials scored it as a touchdown. It didn’t happen in Texas, and most of you weren’t even born at the time. In fact, maybe your parents hadn’t yet been born. As best I recall the game was between two in schools in Nebraska or Kansas or somewhere in that general area. The year was either 1961 or 1962. The players at one of the schools concocted this play and during the game persuaded their very reluctant coach to let them try it. In the news item that came down on the AP wire service afterward the coach was quoted as saying, “I didn’t think it would work.†My understanding was that this was a completely original play worked up by the players. No one in the history of football had ever done anything like this before, and as far as I know it has never been repeated. And it has undoubtedly been forgotten by everyone except for characters like myself who have weird memories and unusual powers of retaining useless facts. It was a remarkable play, which was why AP picked up the story and sent it down the wire to all their newspaper subscribers. OK, here’s how the play was run. The team broke from the huddle and formed their line of scrimmage. Everyone was set and all that remained was for the ball to be snapped and the play would be in motion. The QB was calling signals just like normal. Suddenly, according to plan, the QB pointed to a player on the other team and yelled, “Hey, you can’t do that. That’s a penalty.†And then to the center, “Give me the ball, there’s a penalty.†The center, as planned, didn’t move and the QB yelled again, “Give me the ball.†And then slowly, as if bewildered and confused, the center lifted the ball off the ground, straightened up and twisting his upper body around handed the ball to the QB. Nobody else on the offense had moved and at that point the play was in motion. Naturally they had previously alerted the officials to what they were going to do. And with the play now in motion the rest of the offense started standing up and staring in well acted amazement at the QB and giving each other confused looks. By this time the QB was acting like a man out of his mind. Yelling things like, “Football is a game of rules and when you break the rules you get penalized.†And more importantly, toeing up to the line of scrimmage, he started stepping off penalty yardage against the other team just the way an official would have stepped it off. And all the while the other players were yelling things to each other like: “What does he think he’s doing.†“You talk to him. You’re his buddy.†“Joe, what do you think you’re doing? You’re going to get us penalized.†All this and turning to their own bench and giving arms spread out shrugs as if to say, “I don’t know what’s going on? And the other team didn’t know what was going on either. They also stood up and just watched in confusion as the QB walked right through their defense, stepping off the penalty yardage and yelling like a maniac. Of course once he was through he suddenly stopped yelling and walking, and broke into a dead run for the goal line. And his teammates, in their milling about confusion, had managed to move along with him, enough so that they could block out any of the defenders who might suddenly wise up and take off in pursuit. The QB raced all the way to the end zone and it was scored as a touchdown. It really happened—45 years or so ago. And maybe the point of telling it is not so much to ask if it could be done again. But rather because it’s just too good a piece of football history to be forgotten.
  19. i hope that central can pull out the win, it's going to be tough. imo what makes lamarque so tough every year is that you not only play against a school that has great athletes. you also have to play against their past. they have a great winning tradition, they talk the talk and walk the walk. you play against the 6 straight title appearances in the 90's, and the "Black Storm" defense. dont forget about their fans saying "WE ARE LaMarque Cougers!!! WOOSH!!! that is the most intimidating high school cheer i've ever heard. central will need to be ready for battle.
  20. Ignore the balla people. Who really gives a crap if Balla supports WO-S or any other squad? I honestly think people like him and some others on the board do this crazy crap for the fun of it. Now if the squad was really good, and had beaten us then maybe it might irk me a little, but until his squad gets on our level he cannot talk. I pull for Kville because i want to,not based on whether balla has said something or not. I wont go into him being country,or his education,or his lack of communicational skills. But I know one thing........46-16!! You cant make that A$$ whipping go away.Bye Balla keep misspelling and talking smack...u honestly amuse the crap out of me dawg!!!
  21. I pick Silsbee to win the district... and the race will be a tough one, but I think they will come out on top. It just seems that their bench goes a lot deeper than anyone else's... all this talk about one or two good players on teams.... Silsbee has at least seven great players, and more good players behind them.
  22. You would not believe the amount of trash talk the Jags get on texashsfootball.com from those Westerners. Go into this game, and see those other players for what they really are, just high school kids, and think of yourselves as beasts.

You should be more interested in the school district in which you live. i happen to know that two school board members were trying to get rid of him (jackson), one didn't get re-elected, this is from a VERY reliable source. After watching Chireno play, something is telling me coach jackson isn't missing Deweyville too much, or atleast some of the attitudes around there. (Thats not directed toward the kids either) And besides...when did this turn into a coach jackson thread? i thought it was titled Bickham
  24. Enough talk... lets get ready and go play these guy and see what happens.
  25. Chad S. you will have to talk to the Superintendent and Principal about that. You should be more interested in the school district in which you live.
