Great Article...i'm very proud of those two... I hope Olivia continues her basketball career in college somewhere. 

I have my eye on a freshman at Orangefield.  I think Ashton Wagner is going to be a special player.  We shall see

I can think of a couple.  Theresa Witherspoon of West Sabine and Barbara Hickey of Orangefield.  One won a Olympic Gold Medal.  The other went Pro from Lamar.

Teresa Weatherspoon gets my vote... I played against her twice and both times I was in awe of how good she was.  I "Thought" I had her trapped at half court once.  She did this little spin move and smiled at me as she threw a perfect pass from half court, behind her head, to Venus Lacey who was standing under the goal.  All I could do was shake her hand and say "great pass"..  So, thats my vote

Great game by two great teams!

Refs were awesome.... it was refreshing to have a game where the officials were not part of the outcome.  They did an OUTSTANDING job.

Both teams will need to find more consistency on offense in order to go far in the playoffs.  Defense was good, but alot of missed easy shots on both sides.

agreed!!! no one can walk away from this game saying "my team is better than yours".. it could have easily gone either way.  Neither team showed any strengths to the scouts at the game.  If coldsprings thinks they have a game plan for HJ they are going to be shocked.  After some of the comments I heard last night I may make that trip to woodville also. 

Good luck HJ..I will be pulling for you unless you line up against my Lady Cats again

This game should be very entertaining   I hope both teams come out playin and give us fans something to scream about

I'm just ready for the playoffs, either way if OF or HJ goes as the first place team and make it to regionals, one will have #1 Diboll (most likely) and the other will have (most likely) #3 Bullard or #4 Robinson (Diboll's only loss this year is to Robinson).

Orangefield and Hardin Jefferson should be ranked one after another, and I really don't care what order  :

Oh and I think you only have to win by 1 point to call it a win...

I agree... a special person becomes a coach for the love of sports, the school and the kids.  a fool does it for the money lol!

Depends on which Orangefield team shows up.  When Orangefield is playing team ball and everyone is into the game they can beat anyone.  If they play like they did in the first half last night then HJ will win easily.

I'm glad you posted OLDREF because I also get a chance to say GREAT JOB! I told people sitting around me that you were the best I had seen all year.  I'm glad I got to see your last girls game...  good luck.

The free throws could stand to get better.  However, when you play solid basketball like the ladies did tonight it doesn't matter much.  They needed this game tonight to prove to themselves that they can still come out and play as a team.  Great job

First let me say how proud I am of Jamie's post.  Jamie is one of our true leaders and a great competitor.  I am more proud of her character than anything.  As coaches, we try to instill good sportsmanship and winning OR loosing with class.  It is a breath of fresh air to see this from this young lady.  I agree 100% with her post.  The HJ/ Orangefield rivalry has always been so exciting and is so good for girls' basketball.  The OF girls and their program are 1st class and I so ADMIRE and envy their fan support!!!  It is a tough place to play because of that support. 

We'll see you on Feb. 6th.  I'm sure it will be another great game.

And Gabe....thank you so much for the kind words after the game.  You didn't have to walk over there and do that and I appreciate it.  You do a great job....wish we could get that coverage from the Bmt. Enterprise!!!!

back in 1988, when I was a young Bobcat , the HJ/OF rivalry was huge as is today.  I can still remember the names of the players for HJ.. Edwards, Brown,Bosha and Jones(both of them).  What a great team.  I had the pleasure of playing college ball with Ramona Jones.  One of the best point guards from this area.  The second round of district we had to travel to HJ.  We played our hearts out and gave them the best we had.  We still lost by about 11-15 points but it was a great game. 

I've had so much fun watching the Lady Bobcats this year and I can't wait for the HJ/OF match up again next month.  this is great stuff
