1. Barbers Hill is pretty good. They played a 2/3 zone that gave PA problems. I noticed the same thing when they played Nederland. They kept PA from running the floor and did a good job on the big man. I love watching PA play but I'm still waiting on these guys to realize how good they can be. It hasn't sunk in yet I agree with oldman, if these teams play again it will be fun.
 2. To signal a fair catch the receiver must raise one arm fully above his head and wave it from side to side while the ball is in flight. If the receiver fails to give a proper signal (arm not fully extended) the receiving team is penalized five yards for an invalid fair catch signal, marked from the spot of the signal, and the player is not protected from being tackled.
 3. I'm sitting next to some coaches and that's what they told me. I know a few of the starting defensive players were not on the field the first few possessions.
 4. 40 to 6 7:56 left in 4th qtr. Some of the backups started the game.
 5. PAM is moving the ball but penalties and poor decisions keeping them out of the end zone.
 6. Maybe getting ready for the playoffs. Practicing the hurry up offense in a real game situation?

 8.
In volleyball you do not run, in softball you only run if you get a hit.  Basketball you run the whole time. THAT'S why the numbers are lower in basketball because there are some lazy kids, then throw on top of that there are girl who want to "focus" on one sport. No girl at Orangefield should play just one sport, I hate to be the voice of reason, but there aren't any volleyball players currently playing that were even close to as good as Kirby Myers and she didn't even play vball in college!  No basketball players as good as KK Little and they both played JUCO.  So please before you [s]lie [/s] tell kids that if they "focus" on one sport they will play at Texas, Uconn, Tennesse, or even Lamar read a book, take a class, WATCH a match/game and then get a clue. There are many angry parents who wasted a lot of time and money on select volleyball in this area because of some lies told told to them.
I agree....  When I went to college I was on a Basketball/Track scholarship.  You have to be pretty darn good to get a full scholarship in one sport.  The biggest problem I see in southeast texas is when I drive around and the fields are empty, basketball courts are empty or front yards are empty.  When I was growing up we played nieghborhood baseball, basketball, football, kickball...etc.. and we found the FUN in it.  We played because we wanted to and the joy of the game carried over into athletics.  this, of course, is just one opinion :)

HJ is a well balanced team.  Probably some of the best TEAM ball i've seen in the last 3 years.  Orangefield is much better than what they showed last night but I don't say that trying to take anything away from the Hawks.  HJ came to play without a doubt.  Most of Orangefields scoring comes off of the press.  When a team can break the press it can be a long night for OF.  On a side note:  I noticed that one of the varsity boys from HJ had the last name of Bosha.  Is he related to the great Yatisha Bosha by chance?
His mom is Christina Bosha and she is the younger sister of Yatisha!!!!
Yatisha was an incredible athlete.  Bosha, Edwards, Jones and Brown.. I'll never forget those names :)

 11. "She is extremely irritated that we took away a possible break a way lay-up" was it a possible break a way lay-up or a for sure wide open lay-up?  if defenders are back then yes you stop the game.  If the player is all alone then I would say let it play.  However, the ref has an obligation to protect the players.  A face slam to the floor and a player bleeding is one of those times.  I would say you made the right call Oldref.
