1. Kalis posted on her facebook that she was at the womens basketball hall of fame 5 hours ago.  I'm so jealous.  I hope they are enjoying this experience.  Not everyone gets a chance to play against Tennessee.  I would probably faint at the site of Pat Summitt.  I'm just sayin.. Go get'em LU!!!!
 2.
Not exactly sure on how BH went to #16 to #23 when they have only lost to Eisenhower and Atascocita(both 5A teams and Ata. is ranked #14) and them beating La Marque(ranked #9 in beginning of season)???? just leaves me wondering about this site. Once again i think it is parents of kids on teams.
These rankings are from The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches not SETXsports.
 3.

Orangefield has a very talented sophomore class. Did not lose a game in district in Volleyball, Basketball or track in junior high. This is not junior high anymore. For some reason once the girls get to high school they start dropping like flies. That being said, who knows?
I can tell you why, but I'll have to do it in a message. I don't want to make anyone mad.  That just isn't my style  ;D :D
lol, Whatever!! hahaha :)
 4. Great post Cat22 and Poseidon.  Coach Huck is the man and I'm SO GLAD he is a Bobcat.   Great win tonight by the Bobcats.  Good luck to BC in the playoffs.
 5. I was honored and blessed to have played for Coach Tennison.  Every thing in life I achieve is a direct result of what I learned from him.  He was a great man.
 6. Yes, I played from 1988-1992.  I had the honor of playing with some incredible basketball players.  :)   If the WNBA can offer her enough money I could see a few of these girls playing pro.  I am the 5th and two of my teammates are 1st and 4th :) I have a feeling that kalis will bump me out of the top 5 before it's all said and done but i'm very much ok with that.  I would love to see another elite eight run or better.
 7. She is a far better defensive player than I ever thought about being. lol.  She is the complete player.  She can play Guard, forward, Center or run point.  She still has things to work on as any player does.  If you couldn't tell I'm a fan lol
 8.
There is no way Kalis Loyd will be second team. If it wasn't for Plumley I'd say she could win POY honors.
I very much agree!!! If Kalis sticks around she can become the greatest Lady Card of all time. Imho :)
 9. I wanted to go to the game but had something come up.  "For the game, Lamar shot just 18-of-57 from the field (31.6 percent)"  sounds like they couldn't find the basket :) typical exhibition shooting.  It's a great sign that they were out rebounded, shot poorly and still won.  Usually that adds up to a loss.  Can't wait to see some Lady Cardinal basketball!!!!
 10. Thanks for filling in the names :) and I agree with your post.
 11. I liked the fact that kalis was very vocal on the floor.  She has turned into a great team leader.  Telling girls where to line up, when to pick, take a shot, rebound etc...  I was impressed with the speed of #32 (don't know the names just yet) #30 gives LU another 3point shooter and she seemed to always be at the right place at the right time.  Hard to tell with just one scrimmage but she may be one of those players that just has a nose for the ball.  The big girls get pushed around and need to become a little more mentally tough underneath.  They have the ability but need to get that "I shall not be moved!!" attitude :) I keep waiting for Danny to do that.  She has the build and talent to dominate the boards.  I know she is young so I have high hopes.  of course, Jena was amazing as always.  I thought the team did ok for a scrimmage and like Cat22 said, "if you don't defend, you don't play."  and a player was taken out of the scrimmage for not defending.  I can't remember if she ever went back in.  I bet she defends next time :)
 12. I know this is an old thread but maybe this will help the OPer.  The Security Officers (aka Rent a cops) aren't paid enough to handle things like this.  It's why they have on vests with USHER on the back.  However, Lamar has police officers walking around and those guys have no problems handling situations like this.  So find the guys dressed in black and they will be glad to help.  Go LU!!!!
 13. When it starts getting close to basketball season I see nothing wrong with taking a few days to practice Basketball.  However, I do not agree with practicing basketball everyday during volleyball season.
 14. 1981 Orangefield vs. Newton - I think it was Bi-district.  Newton pulled out the win by a touchdown but it was a great game.  Well, it was to a 12 year old.  Bleed Orange is MUCH MUCH older than I am so he could tell the story better ;)
 15.
Has anyone heard the latest on the Orangefield players suspended?  It may just be a rumor, but was curious if I was the only one that heard it.  Anyhow, let's just hope it's a good ole' small town rumor---I like that better!!
Sometimes a Coach has to send out a wake up call.  It's really not a big deal. Like tjcfan08 said, "Orangefield will be just fine."
 16. My family/friends and I had a WONDERFUL time tailgating.  I walked around several times but i'll come check out these back saving seats next home game :) maybe i'll buy one. Can't wait for the next game.  Go LU!!!
 17.

My head hurts from reading all this. Pretty much want to puke from reading some of these post. By the way I am "Old School" pretty much tells you the post that makes me want to puke. Some of these post sounds like they were wrote by woman or Liberals. ;D ;D
Women ?,  :o give us a break Orange, we're not all that bad! Too bad that some think the coach is the problem. I'm not saying that there might not be bad coaches, but if you want to know what it's like, try coaching anything for awhile. Some coaches scream some coaches don’t, and I do believe that different kids do better under different types of encouragement and/or disciple, and a great coach will know which one works best. You play the game with the coach who has given his/her time and energy to be there, you do what he/she wants, you may not always like it but you get over it! As for being a Parent, when my son is in my house he is my baby, but when he hits the door it's all on him. At his age, if he can't explain to his coach what he wants and thinks, and if he has the ability but can’t earn it, he isn't gonna get it, and if that is the case then maybe I haven't done such a great job. I KNOW that if I went to the coach on my sons behalf, the person my son is gonna be PO'd at is me. And, if he doesn’t have the ability, I need to encourage him to move on to something he can do. But then, some kids have more heart than ability. Always love to see them in the game! But the coaches will know who those kids are. The only time I feel the parents should have the say so is when it comes to our kid’s health and safety.
I Know "Mom", not all of you are bad. I have been married to a wonderful woman for 27 years. By the way , I like your last post. I was waiting for someone to call me out on that remark. LOL!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
and I've prayed for that wonderful woman for 27 years :) ha!!
 18.

Any thoughts!! If you kid is not good he SHOULD be benched no questions. Let the coaches coach!!!
I say if the kids come to practice and bust their humps then they should play.. they are just as much of the team as any other player!!!!
When I was in Jr. High I practiced just as hard as everyone else but didn't get much playing time.  I didn't sit around and pout.  I started working hard and not just at the school.  When I got home I would do homework and then go outside and play basketball.  I wanted to play and I knew the only way I would be able to play was to work harder than anyone else.  By my junior year I was starting on varsity.  When I went to college I found myself back on the bench my freshman year.  Since my coaches at the Jr. High and High School level didn't play me just because I showed up to practice every day I knew what it took to get off the bench.  Halfway through my 2nd year in college I earned more playing time and I started as a junior.   The point I'm trying to make is that kids need to learn we don't always get what we want just because we show up.  I thank God every day that my coaches were hard on me.  I learned how to dig deep and find the strength I needed to succeed.
 19. Back in the day we had to beat 2 ranked teams before we cracked the top 25.  LU can be 25-2 but if those 2 defeats are to ranked teams by 40 points then they will never be ranked.  However, I believe they can do it.  I had a chance to talk with Coach Tidwell this weekend.  I really like his attitude towards next season and I'm very excited about the future of the Lady Cards.
 20. When you play in an NCAA playoff game nothing seems familiar.  The rim looks smaller, the floor feels larger, and the lights are brighter.  You walk by a teammate and realize they are being interviewed on ESPN by a celebrity (Brenda Hatchet being interviewed by Cheryl Miller).  The Frank Erwin Center makes The Montagne Center feel like a Jr. High gym.  The fans appear to be a mile away.  It seems the Lady Cards got caught up in all of that at the beginning of the game.  I was proud to see them fight back and pull within 8 points.  Coach Tidwell has a great team to build on.  I hope the exposure brings in some talented recruits.  Great season Lady Cardinals!! This old Cardinal is very proud :)
 21. Yes it does!!!  After the girls won conference kalis loyd came up to me and said "we are one of you guys now."  It brought tears to my eyes.  This team is great and these ladies deserve to be in the big dance :)  I hope they can take the NCAA by surprise like we did back in the day.  When was that?? 1891 errr 1991 :)
