[Hidden Content] These schools are making Millions while the 5 state area is making pennies in comparison. California is pressuring the PAC 10 to add Fresno st and San Diego. This would bring millions more to California schools. Florida is planning a Florida conference that will do for Florida schools what the PAC 10 is doing for California. Texas schools are spread around other conferences helping them. Texas needs to build a regional conference just like the PAC 10 and Big Ten. I say UT, A&M, LSU, OU, Ok st, Texas tech, TCU, UH, Ark, UTEP etc dump their current conference to form a regional conference. These schools will make far more money this way. Especially LSU. LSU have alum all over Houston and Metroplex.

Tiger I think you have your years confused. If recruiting starts this spring, that gives LU 3 springs to recruit before the first game the coming fall.

I know I have a one track mind on this subject, however LU needs to mention football. This would excite the public about Lamar. A community pride feeling that would increase attendance at sporting events.

When is the vote?

Coach you got it right. LU has a 3-4 window to get it right. And we as fans should also help LU fill the stands by getting friends, family, and co-workers to the game. Cya at the opening game fall 2010.

And lets not forget competition is important. Would SETX better support a LU vs SFA and LU vs Abilene Christian OR LU vs UH and LU vs UNT.

The question is not "if" but "when". LU football is coming back. We must support football, and LU must give this area something worth supporting.

Lets try to put the peices together. The Legend will likely announce a coach at the same announcement to start football. If that coach is currently involved with another team, then the anouncement will be made after the season. So maybe January. Just a guess, I hope it's sooner like hmmmmm TODAY...

Based on the latest rumors. Many Sunbelt teams might leave for a new Florida conference. Many CUSA teams will leave the CUSA. There I combined the remaining teams and Added UTSA and Lamar. New Southwest Conference Rice Tulsa Tulane SMU Southern miss ULL UNT ULM Ark st MTSU UTSA Lamar Rice, Tulane,ULL, and Lamar would make this a baseball monster.

We need to get friends, family, co-workers to go. Talk about LU basketball at work and among your buddies. Brag about how you're going to the game. Ask someone reluctant to just try it out. We need to get the average attandance to at least 7k. Lets help LU out by getting people to go. And on nights when LU playa away, lets support the women's team. This women's team will make history this season. You heard it here first. Be ashame you missed out on history.

I wonder if AD Tubbs is trying not to piss-off the SLC like UTSA being doing the last 2 years. If LU is planning I-A, it's gonna eventually happen.

[Hidden Content] look what I found. Though Lamar no longer has has a football program, the program's signature win came on September 5, 1981, in an 18-17 win over the UPI #20 Ranked Baylor Bears. This would be the first time that a Division 1-AA team defeated a Division 1-A ranked opponent.

I think it will happen before the moratorium ends. I think the moratoruim was put in place for the breakup. Think about it. What is it purpose? Why now? Maybe so some teams can protect their standings or keep themselves from being left out.

The breakup is coming around 2010-2012, LU can't wait 5-10 years. In 5-10 years everyone will be settled into their new conference with no room to expand. The norm will be 12 team conferences at the beginning. No one will be looking for a 13th team. This is why UTSA is rushing to I-A.

I'm ready too. However if LU stays at the I-AA level, it will not excite this area long term. LU needs to decide between 5k-6k attendance at the I-AA level long term, or 30k-40k attendance at the I-A level.

Think long and hard about which level of football will gather the most support from the community.... A few example of a typical schedule LU will play as I-A and I-AA. Think about what schedule you would enjoy more. The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished eighth in the Gopher Invitational at Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minn. The Gophers fired a final round 297 and finished 41 shots behind tournament titleist Lamar. Lamar's final score of 4-over 868 was a Gopher Invitational record. The Cardinals finished a comfortable 22 shots ahead of second place Arkansas and Wisconsin. “Last year we won 7 tournaments and finished third in the nation, Lamar head coach Billy Tubbs said.
