I think there is some type of agreement between the Montagne and Ford park to not have any basketball events at Ford park. Also the Montagne is getting a video board to replace the scoreboard. When? I don't know.

Lamar packed the stadium before going I-AA. I think this is the key to success for LU. Long term SETX will not support LU playing SFA and SHSU. Lamar needs to play I-A and recruit 65% of the team from SETX and Houston. Also luring Todd Dodge UNT to Beaumont would get a packed stadium.

Let me give you an example. One year, in the 80's, LU started the season 3-0. LU was ranked 11th in the nation. Then the wheels came off. This happen 2-3 times in the 80's.

Lamar population has not increased in 40 years. Lamar should be a school of 25,000. Beaumont, until recently, diid not grow in 40 years. Beaumont should be a city of 385,000.

I wasn't clear. I agree I-AA should be the starting goal, long term should be I-A. Nobody here wants to see SFA or SHSU. LU would get better support bringing Dodge(UNT) and UH or SMU. I also agree local players should make up at least 40% of the team. This area of BPT 400,000 + the rest of SETX 150,000 could supply LU with a boat load of talent. 5 million people 1 hour east of here could fill the gaps.

It's not a question of "if", but "when". LU approved softball and just announced the first womens soccer class. LU is now covering title IX. No reason to add those 2 sports unless football is coming back. The big conference realignment is coming in 2010. LU will need to announce football soon in order to upgrade out of the Southland. This area will not support a FCS(I-AA) playing in the Southland.

I don't think it was as bad as the score. LU actually stood toe to toe. Memphis took advantage of fast breaks and turnovers. LU missed in the paint shots that just rolled off the rim the wrong way. LU may not be ready for the top 25 teams YET, however LU is ready to challenge for the slc championship. A month ago I didn't think LU could go better than .500 in the slc.

I think you heard wrong. Memphis wants out of the CUSA. UAB wants to follow Memphis to another conference, I'm not sure they can. UCF wants out. UH wants out...MWC or a long shot for Big 12 Marshall is looking. Tulane sports department is struggling East Carolina wants out. that leaves SMU Rice Tulsa Southern miss UTEP....then UTEP will want out if UH leaves.

I think CUSA will take a big hit in the realignment. CUSA will either dissolve the conference or invite Sunbelt schools. Sunbelt will dissolve or invite Southland schools. Southland would invite UTPA, Centenary, Delta st, aND Tar st. Not very pretty for any of the conferences. LU should join other regional schools with large to mid-size markets to start a new conference. With the exception of LA-tech, all markets must be MSA population +300,000. results; North Texas La-tech La-laf Tulsa Tulane SMU Lamar Southern Miss. Beaumont would support football if done correctly. A few years ago Cardinal stadium was packed with out of town college teams. The same can be done for LU if football was marketed correctly. Sunbelt would take LU back. The Sunbelt is desperate for I-A teams. However the Sunbelt would not get SETX excited much. The Sunbelt is barely above the Southland. BTW, Southland schools are whipping Sun schools this year in bball. I agree, scratch to I-A would be a disaster. Tubbs mentioned starting at I-AA then moving up. It would also be a disaster to start I-AA and remain I-AA.

LU already approved softball. LU already released plans for a softball stadium. LU approved and hired a women's soccer coach. LU is now in compliance with title IX. Why would LU comply to title IX unless football is coming back. I think LU will announce football plans soon. The big conference realignment is coming . Yes, here is 2 reasons. 1. LU started women's soccer and softall not because those sports are in demand. 2. Tubbs would have gone back into retirement after Roc took over basketball. We will know something soon.

This area still has half of the population refusing to go to Ford Park because there wasn't a vote on it. Very sad and stupid to hold a grudge this long. The hockey team is not being smart on marketing team. I would stop trying to sale hockey and start to sale a party/hang out that just happen to be at a hockey game. Give away free tickets to schools, market the game as the place to meet and be seen to kids, and a dance contest between periods. Market to kids and parents will go.
