  1. They are winning in the league, but losing in the community. Only 1,100 showed up at the game. This could be their last season here.
  2. Excellent hire for UNT. Bonehead missed opportunity for Tubbs and LU.
  3. Too bad the locals are not noticing. Texas is ranked 3 away from the worse attendance. Texas needs to do a free night just like the drillers to get fans interested.
  4. From A&M point of view, La-tech and St Louis is the teams to beat and LU is the cup cake. LU will surprise A&M.
  5. The catters have talent. They should win a lot of games this year.
  6. Very few will get excited about seeing SHSU or SFA. However I think we can get some fans into the stadium with teams like Baylor, UH, UTEP, and SMU.
  7. I agree it needs local support, but I doubt it would leave again. Losing football set LU back 15 years. LU should be a school of 15,000 to 17,000. Instead it shrank after losing football and student population never came back so the school never grew. LU is growing today and football will add another 2,000 to 3,000 students over night.
  8. Yes, Coach Tubbs would have gone back into retirement after hiring Roc and that monster recruiting class if football was nof on the radar. I say 2-3 years because of the 2010 conference realignment. Someone else heard a rumor of 3-4 years. It's coming, Womens soccer and softball is proof.
  9. Where would the teams practice?
  10. The best ever. The 1985-86 BCP girls track team. Ranked 3rd in the world.
  11. Can't you get the stat from klvi? Remember, the Montagne wasn't there when LU played Baylor. Both hills were used. If La-tech got the invite, why not LU? WAC has 9 teams. 2 might leave in 3 years. LA-tech might leave the WAC too. WAC will need to create an east division around LA-tech, or La-tech leave and WAC find regional school. WAC has troubles. CUSA will lose 4 schools in the future;Memphis, UCF, East Carolina, Marshall. CUSA will fold or go after Sunbelt schools. Sunbelt will fold or go after Southland schools. Southland will go after Delta st, Tar, Pan-am, Cen. Will the public support LU playing Delta st or Tarlinton? LU chance will come to jump into a Conference on current WAC level. LU needs to be ready.
  12. Not only do you ignore facts, you want to toss out facts. Playing I-A ball means playing in a conference with I-A teams. So no, you can't toss out those teams. You ignore the facts that early Central/West Brook games averaged over 20,000 at Cardinal stadium. You ignore the fact that 30,000 was at LU/Baylor game. You ignore the call by everyone that a new stadium is needed for I-A. Have you ever attended a LU football game?
  13. Joe Aillet Stadium Facts Capacity: 30,600 Largest Crowd: 28,714, Tech defeated UL-Monroe 17-16 on Sept. 13, 1997 All-Time Record: 109-42-2 Playing Surface: Natural Grass Lighting: Eight banks of lights with 1,500-watt metal halite bulbs in the middle and incandescent bulbs on the outside of each set suspended on poles 150 feet above the field's surface. And a few teams that played in Ruston UAB Colorado st Boise st Hawaii UNLV SMU UTEP Utah st Southern miss. Fresno st UCF If La-tech can get those schools in Ruston, a I-A LU can get those and more into Beaumont. ofcourse with a new stadium or huge upgrade to cardinal stadium.
  14. Cardinal stadium can get 30,000 in. 30,000 was at the Baylor game.
  15. Nobody said start up at I-A and schedule big names school. Everyone agree on starting as I-AA. The disagreement is about moving up to I-A level in the future versus staying at I-AA. Tubbs has already said SETX wouldn't support LU football playing I-AA. I'm sure Dr Simmons understand this too. So until both men are gone from LU, LU future in football will be I-A. Take it from there.
  16. Anyone can spin something negative or positive. Texas st could be a successful I-A school if they did everything right. However MWC would not accept Texas st nor CUSA. The Sunbelt is the only current option for Texas st.
  17. It's a good thing you guys are not calling the shots at LU. Coach Tubbs and Dr Simmons thinking is more in line with mine. Those men are thinking big for LU, and is making it happen. Even coach Tubbs said SETX will not support I-AA football. His words, thank you.
  18. I can only give you my experience of before and after I-A football. BTW, LU has always been a losing football program. My guess they had winning seasons 3 out of 10 seasons from the 60's to the 80's. Even losing LU packed Cardinal stadium as I-A. BTW, the last time Cardinal stadium was packed for a LU game, I-A Baylor came to Beaumont.
  19. Ofcourse not, despite the fact they will never play for a NC.
  20. I agree, but was their move up a mistake?
  21. Arkanas st North Texas La-laf La-tech Rice UL-Monroe Troy st These schools were also regulars rivals with LU before their jump to I-A. Was it a dumb move on their part? If it was, why haven't they moved down? Would you rather see LU playing these teams or SFA and Tx st?
