I just want to say those QB/RB are some players.  They did a great job.  But why does he slide at the end of plays.  There in the 4th quarter, the QB was sliding down or running out bounds and not finishing plays.  Again i want to say great job, i thought it was a good game.  I was just wondering if that he was coached to do that or just prefered.  I look forward some more match ups.

  2. Panama,

I agree except I say take CBJ and Gentry to Sterling, HM and Baytown JR to lee and the new JR high with highlands right now.

With the current zoning, Gentry is split with GCM and Sterling. I want to say its in favor of GCM but not totally sure. Maybe 60/40?

CBJ is now a true feeder into Sterling.

    HM is Lee.

    Highlands is GCM.

I assume Baytown Jr is all Lee but not sure.

Maybe the larger issue is that Baytown doesnt have any true feeder schools at the junior high level where the kids can connect and dream about playing for their high school coach.

I totally agree with this statement.  We have a huge problem with this.  I know we have a 3 high school district but the district needs to set something up where the Jr High coaches have to be under the High School coach they are feeding to.  Right now im pretty sure they can do whatever they want.  So school like Dayton and Crosby and Barbers Hill already have a 2 year if not more head start because our kids dont learn a system or a coach till their freshmen year.

I hear the coaches at GCM are getting more involved down at the JR High level. I hope this continues and I hope that at the very least there is one coach down there that can teach the kids some fundamental before reaching the high school.

the GCM coaches have done nothing with the Highlands group and they are getting spanked. Someone posted on here that Dayton beat them 56-6 on the 8th grade a level.
  4. I dont know many in the GCM program but from watching Lee and Sterling, how can the talent be that bad? With GCM combined all three schools are getting spanked on a regular basis. There has to be enough talent to be at least .500 every year.  Like the others, when watching from the stands I like to see the coaches giving high fives, putting their hands on the kids heads and looking them in eye when they do good or bad, showing some emotion. Kids play harder when their coach is as excited as they are. I havent seen that from any of the head coaches at the three schools.  Maybe the larger issue is that Baytown doesnt have any true feeder schools at the junior high level where the kids can connect and dream about playing for their high school coach. It is inexcuseable that the football in Baytown on the varsity level has gotten this bad.

Dayton's 8th A team also shut out Horace Mann.
I believe the score was 42 to 0.

The final was 41 to 0.
8th and 7th grade Ponies seem to be AWEsome yet again!

Dont get too excited, horace mann is probably the worst jr high in baytown

    Average Test Scores: (2008)

    Barbers Hill HS                       22.9         1015
    Ross S. Sterling HS                 22.4         1040

  7. As mentioned NS has two middle schools. Last year both the north shore middle school and cunnigham had really good 7th grade a teams. but like you mentioned, good players with bad coaching doesnt always equal wins. From what I saw last year North Shore was the better coached team.

And I believe that each of the jr highs play one out of district game which for Dayton was Cunningham, but for BH it was Forest Brook middle school...what I heard ended tied 6-6. Forest brook has good players but has even less coaching and structure..kind of shocked that they were able to tie BH's 8th grade A group.

The rest of the district is 5 baytown jr highs along with bh, dayton and alice johnston(channelview)

Thanks for the information about Cunningham.
Barbers Hill has some AWEsome athletes in 8th grade also.
Will be interesting to see how the Eagles do against Cunningham.

  8. why doesnt sterling go ahead and play GCM and BH? 5a schools play 4a schools all the time...its local, they would be fun games, less traveling expense...bigger crowds. It cant be just that Minyard is scared to lose to a 4a school is it?

from what i heard it is going to be a long season for the ranger boys.
