The Blur makes an appearance as Doucett bounces it outside and is GONE 85 yards for the Bobcat touchdown. 2pt pass no good.

I don't really think this one will be close. As bad as HD played against Groveton, I'm not convinced they're that bad. I'm not sure how you compete with a legitimate team in WS one week and then get thrashed by Groveton the next. I think the better Bobcat team shows up this week.

Groveton has 3 defensive linemen lined up head up on the center and one in each A gap. HD has still not adjusted. Kids in the backfield on every play. No D-Lineman lined up from gaurd's outside eye all the way to the TE and HD is still not running a quick hitter off tackle give. I am not understanding this!!

SA better not overlook Demarie Smith. That kid is lightning fast. Other than R. Williams, they also have Duffy, CJ Williams, K. Wilson, and T. Fore who are all good players. Smith didn't have a ton of yards against HD, but everytime that kid got the ball you just hold your breath, he's that dynamic and only a sophomore. Williams, Wilson, DeBlanc and Doucett all have excellent speed, but that kid's quickness was unreal.

I'll be rooting for HD's old district foe West Sabine in this one. They were tough back in the day with Juan Mason and Marcus Horn when I played against them. Not sure they are as good as they were last year, but they are still a dangerous team. Go Tigers!!

You guys are funny. Definitely some truth in what Falcon and oldschool is saying, but I think the "superior athletes" thing is just pushing it a little too far lol. We were playing the West Sabine Tigers, not the LSU Tigers. The difference in athleticism was minimal. Don't get me wrong, Williams, Smith, Wilson, Duffey, and Fore are all good athletes, but not like they're that much better than DeBlanc, Huckabay, Doucett, Rayon, and Hopkins. DeBlanc had 100+ yards rushing and fumbled... Maughn was averaging about 8 yards a carry when he dropped it twice. Don't think that adds up to playing superior athletes.

And Woflie your right. if the Cat's fumble 4 or 5 times in their own  territory against Groveton or anyone left on HD's schedule, they have a big probability of losing.

89Falcon, in the case of the West Sabine game, one of the fumbles was a true forced fumble, as the WS player made a perfect overhand strip from behind causing Doucett's fumble which supports your opinion. DeBlanc's fumble could go either way. He was fighting for extra yards taking on about three kids and the ball came loose. The other two fumbles had nothing to do with "superior talent" or whatever you like to quote. Young sophomore just put the ball on the ground nearly untouched. There is some truth to good defenders causing turnovers due to speed, size, technique and athleticism, but wasn't necessarily the case in HD vs WS.

Honestly I think this was a good experience for HD. Had some bad breaks (1ft short of TD at half, strip returned for TD overturned, WS getting the onside kick, and fumble on fake punt after gaining a big first down) and made some huge mistakes. You can't fumble on 4 straight possessions in your own territory and expect to beat a quality team. We have to improve our pass defense and of course limit the big plays. Williams is a dynamic QB and Smith is lightning in a bottle so it's hard to contain them when you give them extra possessions and a short field repeatedly. I don't know how good Centerville, Lovelady and AS are, but I think HD will compete well in district if they hold onto the ball.

And by the way I'm not sure why you always think HD is slow anyway. It wasn't that long ago that HD finished second overall at state in track back to back years. They also placed second in the sprint relay at state both years and had the 100m state champ two years and 200m champ one year and 2nd place the other year. That was '07-'08. This group of kids are faster collectively than that group.

Ya know I'm perfectly good with all this back and forth and it's pretty fun. I'm a die hard Bobcat but I'm also a realistic fan with a significant amount of self awareness when it comes to HD football. Good arguments and opinions can be made on both sides of the coin.

With that being said, 89Falcon I cannot overlook this post. As hard as it is to say I think you're a very intelligent person and pretty well versed in high school football. You're a negative Nancy but hey, someone had to play that role and you do it well. You make points that most ppl don't want to hear or find it hard to accept and swallow, but with your reference of "slow" being what the Four Horseman stands for..... You really don't have a clue. I know it's so hard for you to fathom HD having good team speed and skill position players but it absolutely true.

Look at HD's top 5 rushers, as we all know, you don't throw the ball much in the Slot-T. One back who just made his season debut last week is possibly the fastest straight line player in the area in any class. He ran a 10.66 in the 100m at the area meet last year before a terrible showing at regionals knocked him out of a state championship opportunity. That was the fastest time ran all year in this years 2A...or 3A. He's right behind Splendora's Jay Bradford and his times.

Our work-horse back ran an 11.2 100m last year before academic issues sidelined him not allowing more accolades. The kid is built like a Greek God and is even faster on the football field than the track.

The next two fastest kids can run too. One finished 4th at regionals in the 400 last year as a freshman (yes competing against Alto, SA, WS, Teneha etc). He's really probably a 200m kid but coaches had the two precious kids running the 200. He's bigger and faster now as a sophmore.

The fourth kid is special. Probably the third fastest kid on the team and only a freshman. He's playing fullback and can break one for 80 at any time. He won the 100m last year I'm JH with a 11:60....as an 8th grader!

And let's not forget our all-state QB who was probably out fastest kid on the team last year. Area champ in the 110 hurdles and 3rd in regionals, not to mention he rushed for about 1700 yards last year so yeah he's got football speed too. (Took the first play of the game 75 yards against Alto last year).

So Falcon you can continue to bash HD all you want and some of it is accurate and well deserved. But to say HD doesn't have any speed this year is moronic. You should come to HD Friday night. WS is gonna be surprised too.

Bobcat Pride called me out. Thank you !
The reference to Hardin's state title run potentially will be from 2020-2023
I appreciate your ignorance, on this matter. Perhaps you have a child around the ages of 9-11 who got beat by Hardin 49-0 a few weeks ago, in 8 minute running quarters.
Let's all ignore the fact that this same group of young men beat Dayton for the league championship 3 seasons ago. Let's all ignore the fact that they as a group have lost 1 game in 3 years to an opponent they turned around and beat in the Superbowl. Let's all ignore the fact that they own the league and have for quite some time now. You want to make a joke out of it, but it's you who have not seen these kids play. I am not praising Hardin's current varsity, JV or junior high teams. If I was high on Hardin, don't you believe I would do the same year in and year out for all levels. I made a 6-4 prediction for the varsity this year, that quite possibly might not pan out. If you aren't good enough, you aren't good enough. I call it like I see it, jack.
I have come to know on 1 hand, athletes from Hardin that could play at the next level and did. Not even worthy enough of Sunday but were good for our community / region from what we are accustom to experiencing. HD has produced some of the best talent in this area hands down for the majority of my life. That's something that will never change, but to ignore the fact that a few miles down 770 and up 146 is exciting, is absurd. I think if you came out and watched, you too would be convinced.

The same thing is happening right now in Liberty. Can I stand Liberty, absolutely not. So, by giving them props you should know that what I speak of is realistic and inevitable.
The talent they have coming is impeccable. I have not seen anything like it in over 20 years. That being said, they still aren't good enough to beat Hardin in this league for the championship. This all may be jibberish and mean nothing to you. It's special to me.

I honestly have no clue how this game will turn out. HD is playing light years better now than they were in Week 1 against Hemphill which is the only common opponent. (And that's not just based on how the scores looked the last three games because yes I know the competition was bad) Does WS come in and win by 30+ like most ppl were thinking a few weeks ago, or does HD surprise a lot of ppl and pull off the win? I'm truly clueless on this one. The only thing I feel pretty confident about is the fact that a bunch of points will be scored. I honestly think HD's offense is clicking and is very hard to stop. OLine is about the same as last year, both RB spots are upgraded with twice the speed as they had last year, and Huckabay is back at QB with another year of development and experience running the Slot-T. HD will score over 40 points in my opinion. On the flip side I don't know if they will slow down WS's offense. They have playmakers and spread the field which was HD's Achilles heel last season. The Tigers may come in and run all over HDs defense. I'm just really looking forward to the game. Even looking forward to Wolfie's reaction and feedback afterwards lol. If WS wins big, then it's back to HD can't play with the east texas teams. If HD wins then WS is waaaay down this year and won't make the playoffs lol. I can't wait!

I'm with ya on the same page. With SA, WS, SV and Joe, that will equal weekly wars. With Groveton being so down that hurts district 12, but AS and Lovelady have stepped up and been a big surprise. 10 and 12 are tough 1-4 with a 5th team that can make things interesting on the right night. 9/11 are not near as tough in my opinion.

Just had to vent a little to my cross county friends lol.

And now you're the deep pockets football guru all of the sudden? HD has been past the first round of the playoffs the last two years while Hardin was sitting at home playing basketball. And I'm glad you didn't put a grand on those 7 to 8 wins you locked Hardin in on because it looks like 2-8 or 3-7 to me. Warren will be a good game and if Kountze' whole team is still out the Hornets may have a chance to beat the Lions but I still doubt it. You can talk all you want about mediocrity and HD being average but I'd rather be good enough to lose in the playoffs than to not get a sniff of them.

Hardin and Liberty have a great chance of going 0-12 the rest of the season so I see why you guys like to hate on the little school of Liberty Co. It's ok, we understand. You guys are welcome to come root for the Bobcats to lose in the playoffs if you want to ....as I know y'all won't have any Panther or Hornet games at that time to attend.

Come on man, you're talking apples and oranges. Of course HD wants no part of that district. First off, all those schools have three times the enrollment that HD has and they're two classifications higher. So yes, HD would get blown out by WOS and HJ and beat bad by Orangefield and HF. But what's Liberty's excuse? If HD was in that district we'd compete just as good as the Panthers, which is not at all. Just like Liberty, HD would finish last place and be the ONE team in the district that won't go to the playoffs. On the other hand I'm not even sure if Liberty could beat HD, Lovelady, or Anderson-Shiro, and I'd bet money on Centerville putting a beat down on the Panthers. And that's not even talking about who Liberty might face early in the playoffs if they were in HD's district......as I promise Liberty wants no piece of Alto.

You've made some decent posts on here before but this wasn't one if em. HD has had a cupcake schedule this year and they haven't proven a lot. WS will be a big step up in competition and then the district is arguably the toughest in the region. If HD secures a playoff spot this year they will most likely see Kerens or Cayuga and it will be a good matchup. No Alto, SA, Mart, etc in the first round means that HD has a great chance of winning if the get in.
