Chester's first homecoming playing 6-man. We play Apple Springs this week it's our first homecoming playing 6-man football should be exciting. :)

Some things stick in your head, don't know why but when I was a youngster my dad took me to watch Steve Worster and that Bridge City fight song stuck in my head. That's my favorite locally.

Way to go Jackets. ;D

Going with the Rebels on this one. ;)

It was a positive atmosphere everyone seemed to be really excited, from the players and coaches to the fans and even the announcer in the press box.

Chester was just overmatched in size, speed and numbers. The boys played well and there was some promising signs. Chester returned a kickoff for a touchdown and one more was called back because of a penalty. There were several spectacular catches made one great one in the end zone for a touchdown. Chester trailed by only 5 or 6 points in the 4th qtr but Mount Carmels size and speed made the differance in the end.

Chester-38 Mount Carmel-27 ;)

Has anyone heard if Chester is going to have a 6-man jr high football team this year?
-
Saw Chester was renovating thier field today moving the goal post. Getting ready for some 6-man action.
-
Well fbmom the key word here is (better) the kids and the community better embrace this move or they will be left without any kind of football at all. They can't look at it as some kind of lower form of football they have to do like you said and look at it as a positive thing. People need to research it, learn more about it. Did you know some 6-man teams in West Texas have turf on their fields? Look at Apple Springs they went to 6-man a while ago and they have more kids than Chester and they are still playing 6-man, they must like something about it. Not to mention once the boys learn the game they should be able to compete much better. It's going to take some time to get used to but I believe if everyone gives it a chance it will be a good thing. Chester has a coach that seems very dedicated to making this work but he is going to need the communities support. ;)

My prediction: Lovelady, West Sabine, Colmesneil

I believe they will have to play a outlaw schedule both years.
-
Will Chester be playing in a district next year? I know it's a outlaw schedule this year ,just wondering about next year.

i brought the sixman point up last year and all you guys on board with it now told me i was crazy aint it funny
how things change in the course of a year lol.
[/quote] Yep,but when it's 6-man or no man it's time to change. Like I said before this has always been a touchy subject here. -
There was 2 or 3 boys at the meeting the other night, one said he wanted to play 11-man the other said he didn't care which one he just wanted to play ball. I'm sure most want to play 11-man it's what they have played all there lives. It is going to take some time to get used to,but if Chester can be competitive that will help make the transition easier.

Chester would travel 61 more miles in 6-man for all district games. It would be 399 miles in 6-man,338 miles in 11 man.
