I dont know nothing about Kinkaid. What i do know is..... Newton is still Newton. Anahuac needs to schedule teams like WOS, Silsbee, BC, Jasper or us to get them battle tested for those tough games down the road.
Kinkaid is a private school and has the size of probably Huffman....on the edge of 3a/4a - big team to say the least!  HJ is down this year where yall only beat them by 14 last year. HF is still down - but we are playing larger schools...however, we all know Newton is not the same Newton when they lost by 34pts.  Yall may be good, but wouldn't have beaten the Panthers by that margin!
Kinkaid has roughly 550 kids in the upper school. Would be a small 3a school.  Without the number of athletes that a public school their size would have.

Actually, kind of suprised to see the Bruins in at #9, but at the same time its kinda nice.
The AP is the worst poll out there.  Most of the writers that make up the pollsters don't know a thing about these teams, especially the lower classifications.
Back this up with who they should replace and why they should replace them.....
They should replace Tyler or Smithson Valley because they didn't even make the playoffs last year when everyone else in the Top Ten did.
Tyler was 5A last year and went 4 rounds deep in the playoffs.  LOL!

I want to play this game so it is not about me, but all about You. I need Your Spirit to be in total control of my thoughts, actions, emotions and words. Help me not to worship the sport, but to be thankful for the skills and interests you have given me and to use them for Your glory. Help me also to encourage my teammates toward growth and maturity with You. Guide our coaches in making wise choices and help them be the kind of leaders You want them to be. Please keep all players free from injury, according to Your will, and bring healing to those injured. Lord, I trust You to renew my strength in times of weakness so that You will be glorified in everything I do. Help me to praise You in victory and defeat. I love You and thank you for your love for us. I pray these things in Jesus name, Amen! Have a great season and stay safe.  Lets Go Pirates
Very nice indeed.  People take note, that is how to seek His will.

Steve Edmond (LB) - Texas Shayvion Hatten (OT) - TCU Keyarris Garrett (WR) - Tulsa Three others may be getting close to committing as well.
Donald Bryant (OT/DE) has committed to Baylor Tyler Boyd (QB) has several offers but has yet to commit. David Mims (WR/DB) has offers from Rice and Louisiana Monroe.  Mims broke his leg and may miss the entire season.

It puts your kinfolk in the same boat as you and I with Kirbyville and Newton. We're not in the coaching ranks for either team and I bet neither are your kinfolk with Daingerfield. Being in 2A there is no spring practice to evaluate talent and it has to be left to practice at the end of summer. Can't even call 'em two-a-days in Newton anymore. Haven't had those in years. That's lots of time for kids to mature as well as grow physically. There are systems at all three schools that take athletes and make better athletes and no way am I going to agree that a two time defending state champion system is going to decline as a "known fact". They obviously lost seniors both years preceding their titles and their coaches were able to replace what they lost. Can they do it again? All I know is they are the Champions until playoff time this fall.
Dangerfield was stacked for the nxt 3 years when they won the title in 2007 , I want to see if they can win again in 2011 because they have a real good chance this year. Next year will be the rebuilding year for them.
The seniors this coming season will be great.  The juniors are only average in my opinion.  The sophomores and freshmen however are both very talented.  Maybe as talented as this year's seniors.

The RBs are great and ready!
What makes you think Newton can beat Daingerfield this year? You take the top ten players on the field when these two teams play and probably eight of them are wearing blue.  So, why would you give the edge to Newton in this matchup?
Newton is a team that don't take any stuff from other teams for very long. I think this year they will realize how tired they are of losing to Dangerfield and bow up and take the tough win and be back on top of the 2A Setx world.
I agree
I disagree.  ;D
Why?  Because they're tired of losing?  :-\  Come on, that makes no sense.  They still won't have as much talent as Daingerfield.  Maybe in a couple years, but not this year.  So, other than just being tired of losing to Daingerfield, what rational reason would you have for believing Newton would win a potential matchup with Daingerfield?
I know JC, but you didn't think Daingerfield would beat Newton last year, or the year before.  How did that work out for you?  :D If they do play, it will be in the state finals. So, it will be an all out brawl.
Nope.  Unfortunately we ran into some pretty good teams in the playoffs.  We were 46-6-1 between 86-89. Lost two regular season games, both to 4a teams (10-9 to Carthage in 1987 and 17-7 to Mt. Pleasant in 1989) We were 9-4 in the playoffs.  Lost to State Champs Jefferson in 86; Lost to Linden in 87 (who later lost to Southlake Carroll); lost to State Champs SLC in 88; beat SLC in 89 but lost the next week in the quarterfinals to Gladewater.  Oh well.  88% winning percentage is not bad.   ;)
not at all but Daingerfield sounds to be back and just as good if not better than last year any possiblities of another state championship?
It's possible. They have some top flight guys coming back.  But, they lose a lot of seniors.  The guys taking their place are talented, but won't be nearly as experienced.  Some guys are going to have to come up big.  But, they will have some really strong senior leaders.  We will have to wait and see.  But, I believe Daingerfield will at least win their region.
 13.
Newton has alot of talent and it is overlooked alot of the time by fbs school's, alot of the southeast texas area gets overlooked alot. For example Toddrick pendland RB for Newton in 2005, he went to Mcneese because lots of FBS schools where overlooking him . He is now a two time All american in the FCS and he is projected to go in the second round of this coming up NFL draft. Another player that was overlooked was Bryran Smith DE for Newton 2003 he went to Mcneese for the same sort of reasons, he was also a two time all american and he holds the sack record for most sacks in a game and in a Season. He was later drafted in the fourth round of the NFL draft by Philly and was later traded to the Cleveland browns. These are just a few that never made a recruiting list and were never showed any attention by FBS schools.  Don't get me wrong SETX is finally getting a little respect from the FBS with players like Earl Thomas(Texas) Christine Michael (Texas A&M) Deon Beasly(Texas) Jamal Charles(Texas)(Kansas City) Shawn Witherspoon(Mizo) just to name a few. They have opened the door for other SETX kids to Finally get noticed.
Good to hear it.  It's not always a bad thing to go to a smaller school.
