  1. I wouldn't necessarily say it SHOULD have been a blowout for Dayton over Waller. But, if Dayton doesn't muff the punt early in the third quarter, then I believe it would have been a blowout. Dayton was up 21-0, stopped Waller again the first possession of the second half, and the route was about to be on. That's turnovers for you though.
  2. Last time I posted the entire article, then a moderator clipped it down and put only a portion so one would be compelled to click the link to read the rest. so, I took the hint and did the same this time.
  3. [Hidden Content] Dayton Broncos advance to state By Dave Rogers Published December 8, 2007 Have a little faith. The Dayton Broncos did, withstanding a furious second-half rally by Waller and clinching a 28-21 win and a spot in the Class 4A semifinals with a big defensive stop with 13 seconds remaining. “A lot of people thought we were down,†quarterback Gregory Charles said, echoing the mood of the 11,000 football fans at the Berry Center after Waller rebounded from a 21-0 halftime deficit to tie the game. “But we weren’t down.....

  5. [Hidden Content] Backup QB has Broncs on playoff roll By Dave Rogers Published December 6, 2007 DAYTON — Gregory Charles is riding one whale of a winning streak. The senior quarterback is 9-0 for the Broncos this season. He took the starting job for the fifth game of the season and guided Dayton to wins in its final six District 22-4A games. Now he and the Broncos are 3-0 in the playoffs and riding a nine-game win streak into the fourth round of the postseason. “Every game he quarterbacked on the junior varsity (in 2006), he won,†Dayton coach Jerry Stewart adds. “Every game we won, he won.†So what would Charles be doing if junior Cody Green hadn’t gotten hurt in Dayton’s second game this season? “Cody still would have been quarterbacking,†Stewart says of the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Green, who has already had scholarship offers from Miami, Texas A&M, Houston and Baylor, according to the coach. “But things have a way of working out.†.......................................
  6. Lee and Sterling are both extremely overcrowded right now. There are a ton of houses going up north of I-10, which is where the third high school will be going up. The two high schools are packed as it is, but the real growth is expected over the next few years, making the third high school vital. I think Baytown has the talent to field a successful team or two. Sterling actually has more athletes than Lee does in my opinion. Olin is just a much better coach than anything Sterling has had recently.
  7. How can we talk about Hartz and not mention the dinner rolls/
  8. I don't think so. I think most of those guys are going to be coming from Sterling for now. I think Lee's guys probably chose to stay at Lee. Lee is supposedly even going to be getting a few more guys from Sterling that are going to be re-zoned to Lee. I can't imagine Lee losing a lot of their players, considering that guys usually do what they can to goto Lee instead of Sterling in the first place.
  9. Well, I'm glad yall asked this question.... Baytown Lee loses a ton of seniors. Of course, they lost about 5 of them before the season even started, then lost 5 more during the season to injuries and grades and attitude problems. So, in reality they aren't losing a whole lot from the guys that ended the season. Problem being, the guys that ended the season were not particularly impressive. My expectations are quite low for next year. I'll need to see how the re-zoning affects everything before I get too locked into a lineup for the Ganders. As of now, here are the guys that will be back that started some games this year: wr - Jahwran Goode sr rb - CJ Mixon so, Paul Martinez sr qb - Jarret Havins jr (started games at wr and lb) ol - Austin Riley sr, Tim Smith jr, Xavier Ruben jr dl - Zac Zellars sr, Darren Montgomery sr lb - Treion Murray jr, Collin Bieschke sr, Donovan Raymond sr db - Trenton Warren jr, Thomas Bates sr Lee will probably have a sophomore running back starting and one or two sophomore receivers starting, so they will be very young on offense. It's going to be tough to replace nose guard JT Cleveland on the defense. 2007 was Lee's year to do something if they could have stayed in tact, but I will be there rooting for them again next year. They could have a pretty good team if everyone stays and plays and doesn't get hurt or quit or fail classes.
  10. Hey we put yall in our paper Livingston did get in field goal range, but that doesn't take away the pounding the Broncos put on them
  11. whats the name of that song playing in the background while driving down the interstate and throughout the highlights
  12. Now why would you go and say that??? We won 4 district games this year with what would amount to a 3A roster with all the injuries. If Lee stays 5A, it would be because they are grandfathering in all the guys that were destined to move with the re-alignment, meaning we will have the same chance to compete next year as we did this year. Olin has quite a bit of pull. I don't think he would let them leave him with a short stack.
  13. Once again, these guys are tough as nails. Gonna take one helluva team to beat them. I left at the half tonight, and they were up 21-0 on Livingston. Should have been 35-0 though. The refs blew a def pass interference call to stop one drive. AJ Dugat retruned an int for a td with 3 seconds left in the half, but it was called back on a personal foul on the return that had nothing at all to do with the return. Sitting here listening on 99.9, and Dayton is now up 35-0 in the third quarter with about 5 minutes to go in the quarter. They were all over Livingston's offense. The ONLY thing that worked was a little straight up the gut action on one drive for Livingston. If Waller(assuming they win) can use Eddie Brown right up the middle they might could make it close. I don't see it happening though. Dayton is an extremely well coached team.
  14. I live about a block from Stallworth. I went by there on my way to the Dayton-TC game, and I couldn't believe how many fans there were on the home side. I'm guessing that Lumberton was on the home side of Stallworth? It actually made me want to stop and go in there and check that game out instead.
  15. lol Yeah TC didn't make the plays alright. There were about 25 plays they didn't make that would have needed to be made that maybe could have allowed them to go in tied at the half.
  16. Dayton made a believer out of me tonight. I watched the first half, and they pounded on TC and made them like it. It was a huge mismatch.
  17. Actually they stuffed a pretty good running attack last night for all but one carry. Snelson had one 90 yard run. He had a 50 yard run on a fake punt. Other than that he must have had 35 carries for 110 yards. Lee stopped the run quite effectively last ni8ght. It was the inability to move the ball on offense that killed us. Olin grabbed a kid because the kid threw his helmet down....cmon man Are you really going to make that a big deal? Coaches grab kids by the jersey in pretty much every game I've ever watched.
  18. No doubt in my mind the Bruins will stomp South Houston today. North Shore struggled with Kingwood which I would have never fathomed. Lee was able to hang with Pasadena Memorial for a half using basically their JV team. I just can't imagine that South Houston will be much different than an Atascocita looking at their scores against NS and Pasadena Memorial. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there to watch as I was called in to work today. I will keep up with the game on here though.
  19. Lee just didn't have enough juice in this one. We were up at the half 10-7. We had our chances. Just couldn't get it done.
  20. Bump one last time for anyone in the Houston area that doesn't have a game to attend tomorrow, come on out
  21. Mahan is no longer on the team as near as I can tell. I'm not sure why. He hasnt been there for the last 3 games.
  22. I was at that game with Memorial and WB last year at Stallworth. They did give WB a scare. Memorial is all about execution. They are not going to out-athlete anyone, although Snelson is a good enough athlete at running back. The teams that scare me are the ones that have really good athletes like PAM and West Brook. I like Lee's chances when I know that if a Lee receiver gets out there in the open field it's going to be tough for Pasadena Memorial to contain him. Memorial will, of course, scheme well enough that it probably won't occur too many times where Lee breaks out in the open field. Stil,, I like Lee's chances if we can catch a break or two. Either way, I will be there again Saturday pulling for the West Brook Bruins.
  23. Lee has given up 1217 yards rushing through 10 games. That's not all THAT bad now. They are giving up 3.65 yards per carry. Pasadena Memorial will be the stiffest test yet on the ground, that's for sure.
  24. offensive lineman Michael Garcia should be back for the first time in a few weeks Josh Jones was hobbling around last week, but he played at receiver against Atascocita Octavio Torres was back playing at qb against Atascocita David Hare was back at inside linebacker Kevin Craft, wr, seems to have recovered fully from a twisted ankle. wr Michael Mahan is no longer on the team rb Jarvis Moore, rb CJ Mixon and de Zac Zellars are all out for the year with injuries. We moved Thomas Bates to corner from safety and he ended up with two picks returned for a combined 180 yards and 1 td. I still think it would serve us better to have Josh Jones at qb, but I don't think it's going to happen. Pasadena Memorial seems a little suspect in the pass defense. I think, as always, Lee has a puncher's chance against most anyone.
  25. Allegedly going to be played at Stallworth in Baytown next Friday night. You all are welcome to come and support the district ;D
