Wow Lee actually stopped them the first set of plays. Lee on offense now. -

Saw that. Tough break for him. He needs to be out there showing what he has so he can get the scholarship offers he deserves. I am going to miss the freshman scrimmage. >:( Don't figure that they have too much to speak of though. -

Maybe the wet weather kept people away?
That's pretty bad. I took off of work to watch our scrimmage, then drove all of the way to Friendswood to watch 2 teams that we don't even play. It was a 3 hour trip on the way there thanks to traffic, and about an hour and a half trip on the way back. Somebody had to have cared enough to go to this?
I can one up you. I do all that...and the team I pull for has been an absolute joke. At least with Brenham you know you are in for a good showing after that three hour drive.

WILL JAMAR GIBSON HELP GCM?
gary-us-bonds replied to GCMrbDAD's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
He immediately becomes the best player in the district. There was never a doubt in my mind that he would play once I heard that he was at GCM. Players like that in Baytown don't just stay suspended or what not. Too much talent. He would have been reinstated at Lee or Sterling too, so I am not just putting it on GCM. GCM should have one of the better 4A offenses in the Houston area with the addition of Gibson. The qb was already all-district quality, and I hear the running back is good, though I don't think he played against Lee last year. The thing with Gibson is, you better double cover him. If you don't, then you are just asking for trouble. -
Look at the Stallworth picture that game was GCM vs. BH look at the difference in the Fan base!
How long has BH been around compared to GCM? With Lee or Sterling you would have a point. Horrible turn out for those two, but GCM has only had two graduating classes when that picture was taken I am guessing. Barbers Hill probably has 8,000 living alumni compared to 800 for GCM. BH was also a winner last year. I went to the Lee game at BH two years ago, wasn't a huge BH turnout.

2012 Baytown Lee Ganders Team Preview
gary-us-bonds replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They didn't have a pathetic defense last year, which was a step up. They held GCM pretty well. When I say they held them well, I mean that it took GCM to third down to get a lot of the first downs. That's considered holding them well when you are a Lee fan. :D Gilbert, Willie and Zellars in the secondary should be a pretty good start. Sarabia and Trent are actually better than average up front. Garza and Richardson are scrappy. I think Garza moved to safety or corner though if we can take the spring game into account. I prefer Garza at linebacker. They don't have much in the front seven outside of those four though. The offense should be better than average with Zellars and Cedeno running the ball. They both run hard. The passing game will take a step backward though. Dawson, Friendswood and TC will probably all rip Lee a new one. Other than that, they should be able to at least be competitive. -

You're right. There is no way out of this for Lee. The way out for the entire city was to combine the schools into one instead of further diluting and making three campuses. None of the three campuses have anything worthwhile going on. All three stuck in mediocrity. -

Goose Creek has no vision. They should have gone to one school back when they had the chance. They went to three schools and now they are losing students like nobody's business at Lee. Lee may be down to a 3A school before long. They were ore concerned, in this everyone gets a trophy society, in having 3 valedictorians, 3 salutatorians, 3 drum majors, 3 starting quarterbacks, so on and so forth, than they were about having any sort of community pride. All three schools are pretty well mediocre to poor in every sport and in every academic standard you could come up with. So, no...I don't think they will combine Lee and Sterling. If anything, they will build another high school so they can have 4 valedictorians, 4 salutatorians.... -

Hard to believe that Sterling did not also get unacceptable. When I looked at the numbers in the Chronicle a few weeks back, Lee actually had better numbers than Sterling nearly across the board. Sterling may have had a better percentage under one heading, which presumably is the one they use for rating. -

Yes. They did. I would hope anyone that was planning on transferring would not be out there playing in the spring game, but you never know. I know all of the key players are also playing for the Lee 7 on 7 team as of this past weekend in Manvel. I imagine anyone that wanted to transfer would have found a way to transfer already by finding a relative to claim on the other side of town like these kids always do. They wouldn't have waited until Lee got an unacceptable rating. -
Sure wish I would have known LEe was going to be there today. I hear they won one, lost one by 2 points and got rolled by LaMarque in the other game. Anyone make it out?
