The time has changed from 6 to 1?
Yes. The game time has changed from 6pm to now a 1pm kickoff.

Very happy because this will allow me to attend this game and have enough time to get over to Turner Stadium in Humble to broadcast Silsbee's game against Huffman.

Thanks. Now I can go to that game and catch PNG/Daytion at the Butch.

I was watching the game on TV and happened to hear that Sam Houston didn't have any recruits that came from the local clubs while Lamar was continously calling players name from Lumberton,Kelly, WB etc. This is not a knock on local clubs but it is impossible to build a successful college program when you recruit that heavily locally.
Mcneese and SFA have been winning with SETX talent for years! SHSU has 32 players from the Greater houston area. I'd say that's pretty freakin local to them. They have 5 players from Huntsville or surrounding towns. Considering the size of Huntsville, that's quite a few. SHSU may not have any current players from the GT, but the best team they had outside of this season in the past 20 years was led by a GT QB and had several other GT players on it. Besides it's year #2! What did you really expect? The fact that they are even competitive against the bottom of the conference is remarkable. Do you really expect Lamar to outrecruit the second and third tier schools for top Texas prospects in year two??? Get real.
The talent in the GT isn't what it was 5 or 10 years ago. Example from last year. Fred Ford was probably the most heavily recruit from the GT and he ended up at SFA. Five or 10 years the GT would've had at least 10 - 15 of it's top recruits going to Austin, Norman or College Station, now you would be lucky to get 5 in that category. I'm just sayin the talent pool in the Triangel is no where near what it used to be and Lamar's going to have to throw out a bigger net when it comes to recruiting. By the way, how long are you giving Lamar to be able to recruit with McNeese and SHU and SFA and the rest of the conference? If they want to compete for a championship they better start soon.

Jeremy Johnson looked typical for an extremely fast running qb.  He has only average passing skill.  Bevil is still Bevil good passer but poor descision maker.  Doubt that it will happen but I would like to see Prewitt just to see what he might bring.   Other than that I am ready for Johnson to start as Bevil is a senior and while he has played good at times it does not seem he can perform consistently against better competition and will be gone after four more games.

HE WAS 23-29????!!!!!  Johnson cant throw..looks to run no matter what!  Not a college qb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeremy should start, he is your future.  And can someone please teach the DB's how to catch a football.  Geez..
Good lord.  This is like banging my head against the wall...but oh well.  Jeremy Johnson is not ready to be a college quarterback.  He CANNOT THROW THE FOOTBALL.  How hard is that to see/understand??!!!  UGGGGHHHH!!!

As for Bevil, I have consistently bashed him.  However, his first half play against UCA was spectacular.  Yes, I said it, spectacular.  He made good decisions, was very accurate, and THREW THE BALL ON TIME.  Unbelievable.  He wasn't scrambling around to make plays.  Oh and the play calling was very good as well.  Why we went to Johnson in the second half is beyond me.   I could have understood it if Bevil was Bevil but he wasn't.  He was fantastic.

According to the TV broadcast, Bevil had hurt his left ankle and that's why Johson started the 2nd half. Thank God they got Bevil in to throw that game clinching pick 6.

So, for now, I am prepared to somewhat back off on my Prewitt backing BUT, knowing the history of Bevil, it won't take me long to get on his case.

Between Johnson and Bevil it appears to be a no brainer.  You have to go with Bevil.  Oh, and I see nothing wrong with putting Johnson at tailback for some plays.  Hopefully he can catch because his future is at wide receiver.  If not, he better put on a few lbs and play defense or become a running back.

  9. BC is going to get a steady dose of Lindsey, to the tune of about 35-40 carries just like Jasper did and WOS wins 28-7. The defense is still the "chain gang." If BC only put 6 points on the board with 6 turnovers aganist Silsbee, maybe BCs offense isn't clicking, either.

One other thing about WOS and Coach T. He will have the Mustangs rollin', sounds like he hasn't weeded out all the turds yet. When he does they will be the Mustangs we've been accustomed to.

  11. I not saying that Bevil needs to be benched because Johnson is the "sexier" choice. Bevil is just too inconsistant. He still makes the same bad decisions he did last year. He's had his chance and he hasn't got the job done. Johnson is your future. He's moved the team well when he's been in there and I think now, you get him ready to take over the team. Yes, he will make some bad decisions, too, he's a redshirt Freshman, but he has time to learn and correct his mistakes and be a better QB the next three years. Bevil's time has run out, he's a Senior, he's not getting any better. Besides that, you can't afford to be down 20-30 poimts at halftime and expect to compete in this conference.
  12. It is up to the defense to stop the offense from scoring. If you have your 2nd or 3rd team in and scoring, that's on the defense. Also, if your offense is the spread, why with the 2nd team would you go under center and run between the tackles, how does that help your backups get better?
However, if your running reverses, flee-flickers and things like that, then, yeah, that would be uncalled for.
