1. Wow!  A post about a one-sided basketball game runs into this.  A 4-A Div. II team playing a 5A team in a non-district game, trying to prepare themselves for a tough district, learning how to compete and adapt to adversity and we turn this into an opportunity to take jabs at a coach you don't like and are jealous that you can't do what he does, is pathetic.  After being down several key players due to various reasons such as injury, quitting, left school, and just about any other excuse you can think of, he is still a coach.  Not a magician.  He can't wave a wand and make everything better.  None of those reasons were a result of Coach Jacks either.  Don't care what you have heard, keep looking.  The real answer is there.  Ask some of the girl parents of the Lumberton team now why Jacks left.  They will proudly tell you they had a hand in it.  The old "Don't care if we are winning, my daughter isn't scoring enough." mentality is strong with some of them.  Or, niece for that matter.  This generation of "Helicopter" and "Lawnmower" parents is ruining the way high school sports is being played and coached.  I know everyone has coached little dribblers, little league, junior league, AAU, select, and whatever else kind and that makes all people sporting experts and gurus, and the guys that actually get paid to do it know nothing.  I get it.  Some of you are geniuses.  Why don't y'all coach then?  Let me answer that for you.  1.  You don't have a degree, judging by some of your spelling and dictation I am not surprised.  2. You can't afford the pay cut.  3.  You only want the job on Game nights, not everything else.  4. You may have to coach your own kid or another that acts like yours.  5. You have paid your kids entire life to have them take lessons from every sport "guru" around because you can't teach them yourself or you don't know how to.  6.  Someone may see through all the BS you have been laying on through the years and realize you weren't the stud you claimed to be back in the day.   Just my thoughts.  I would love to sit down and talk sports with any of you experts if you would like to.

Thanks for pointing this out.  Finally, a Stump believer!!  This guy can flat out coach, period!  I am by no means taking away from anyone else, but when he was in the area, he was the best one around.  He is a proven winner, a great coach, and a remarkable role model.  Don't forget the fact that he also had stints at the college level, Miss. State, Tulane, and Southwest Texas(Texas State).  Everything he does and accomplishes in a football program is remarkable.  His football knowledge is above the majority of high school coaches.  His ability to lead, inspire, game plan, and execute a program is something to be admired.  To say he is arrogant is just absurd.  It's called confidence.  To the average Joe or armchair quarterback, it is easily misconstrued.  Maybe he wouldn't talk to someone about their junior league playbook or their football "expertise" they acquired from the band section, not sure what it is.  However, he is far from arrogant.  He led the Brook to multiple district championships, playoffs on a regular basis, and the 3rd round at least 3 times with losses to Cy Falls, KATY, and Cinco Ranch.  82, you are a bit mistaken my friend.  Little Stump did not play in the playoff game his senior year.  He was injured the week before against LaPorte and the backup had to play.  Deer Park won on a late field goal at the Butch that year.  The need to throw in the "little Stump" is yet another uncalled for comment from you.  The man is a winner.  His resume speaks for itself.  It's easy to second guess and question when you know very little about the game.  If Lamar was smart, they would be blowing up his phone every day and camping out in front of his house with an open checkbook.  Craig Stump, Head Coach Lamar University.  I like the sound of that!!!!!

We can say what we want by the guy wins

I disagree, bro. If Durley doesn't have cancer, I think WB could have won another state title. The 83 season, they were undefeated, until Dickinson beat Brook, in the second round. Darley died in 84, before the season started. Then we get Leo Nolan, who coached for 2 seasons, and did ok, but didn't set the world on fire. Hentschel coached from 86 to 96, and had 3 undefeated seasons, but couldn't win in the playoffs. Al Rabb coached from 97 to 04, and we all know how bad WB was then, except for the Chip Ambres 97 team. Stump coached from 05 to 12, and had playoff wins in all of his seasons, as head coach, except for his last season, when little Stump was the QB. I'm proud of what this team has done, with this coaching staff. They have gotten a lot better, over the last couple of seasons. I hope we'replaying football, in December, but that's very difficult to do.

I'm hearing it's the "lazy" coaches that were left from Haynes are most of the ones leaving.

Where exactly are you getting your info from?  That is one of the most asinine comments I have ever seen on here, and I have seen you put some doozies.  Check your information before you throw out incoherent babble.  Hear any info from any of the coaches that are leaving as to why they are gone?  I bet if you ask them, they will tell you.  Don't go by what he said and she said.  This is what makes you look foolish and others from Lumberton bad. People associate the rest of the town with you sometimes and it is a shame.  There are some coaches leaving, some by choice and some non-renewed.  What would cause a mass exodus after a 7 win season in Lumberton?  Ask yourself that question.  Where does it start?  Top or bottom?  How many of Babin's former coaches did he bring with him from Warren?  Deweyville? Houston? Where are all the Babinites that are following him to the promised land?  How can so many jump ship and follow Jehling to the land of Horns?  How many have interviewed for jobs here and turned them down?  Believe it or not, there is not a line of coaches beating down the door to get into Lumberton.  For you to throw out that the coaches that are leaving were "lazy" and did not want to work based on something you "heard" is absurd.  Check your info next time.  You know so much and like to keep everyone informed, ask around these questions and see if you like the answers.

"Ace" was warming up and was going to pitch. "Ace" told coach he didn't won't to pitch against Vidor because he wanted to pitch Tuesday against Nederland. So coach pulled him and benched him...

Lumberton has to many players not playing as a TEAM its all about me,me,me!!! There are no LEADERS on this team and most of all,  the players do not respect their coach and it shows on and off the field!!

Lack of respect and sense of entitlement comes from the home. Youth doesn't really have anything to do with, in my opinion. All of the selfish acts of individuals causes tension and forms a division in the dugout which is hard for any team, especially high school kids, to deal with. Parents need to get on board or off and bring their "superstar" boys with them. Again, stay classy L-Town.  Stay classy.

  5. Try to teach kids about commitment and accountability and some parents and grandparents can't handle it. Support the coaches decisions whether you agree with it or not. They are just doing what should have been taught at a younger age. Great examples of a few things were shown tonight. What a good coach should do, and what grown adults should not. Stay classy L-Town, stay classy.

  6. We will be having another tryout next Sunday, December 13th, to fill our roster.  It will be at the Academy at Ford Park.  I will post the times at a later date.  If you a have a child who is looking for a low-pressure but competitive team, come see us.  Fees will be minimal and will try and stay local with our tournaments and little travel.  Please email me or message me, Todd Paine, if interested. Email at [email protected].  Thanks.

  7. I am looking for a few more players to complete the team.  We will be hosting a tryout on Saturday Jan 17th at the Lumberton Little League Ballpark from 2-4 p.m.  I will take a 10 year old looking to play up or 11 year olds.   Please feel free to email me or message me with any questions. We will begin play by the middle or end of February.  My email is [email protected]

Well, frankly I hope Coach Creduer reads this. Coach as a life long citizen of the city of Lumberton, I'm sorry you had to put up with the problems of a few parents who had no business butting into your job. I for one appreciate the fact that you were the ONLY coach to ever get our football program into the post season and I was certainly hoping you'd have enough time to build a strong program within our schools. I'm sure you'd probably agree that Lumberton does have some talent here if certain parents would step back and let the coaches and teachers do their jobs with developing that talent rather than insist on having their child coddled. That unfortunately is the problem with todays' me society. I hope you have a successful and long career in the coaching profession and I hope your next Head Coaching job is a joy to you. I feel sad that a few individuals ran off a HOMEGROWN coach most probably for some trivial BS. Good Luck Coach and always remember that SOME of us truly did appreciate the job you were doing with those young men who bought in to your program. Sincerely, A TRUE FAN OF LUMBERTON HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS NOT THE INDIVIDUAL ATHLETES.

How long does he get to estabalish a program?  It starts in middle school and goes all the way up.  How about the other programs in the district besides football?  If parents are a problem, they are a problem because he has let them become a problem.  Keep them off the field and out of the field house and in the stands where they belong and they will cease to be problems.

  9. If I was a teacher and none of my kids passed TAKS or STARR for a couple of years, would I still be able to teach because I was a good guy?  If I was a car/coin/anything salesman and did not sell anything for a while, would I still get paid a draw for being a good guy?  Absolutely not.  Nobody said anything about is character or disgraced him in any way, it is just time for a change and let someone else try and turn it around.  But, it was not just him, several on the staff as well should hang it up in my opinion.
  10. The man in charge is always the one you look to for the answers of the questions of why.  A program begins at the middle school level and works its way up.  Running the same offense, the same defense, the same offseason program is vital in the athletes success in the high school years.  This is not the case in Lumberton.  Teaching kids work ethic, accountability, and commitment is key at this level for kids to buy into the system.  Discipline is key to any program.  Start it early and you will not have to deal with it later on.  The years Lumberton was successful, those kids ran the same program from 7th grade until they graduated.  It paid off.  That is not the case now.  You need to instill in these kids the pride of the program, teach them what the will be doing in high school.  If they win, they win.  If the lose, they lose.  But prepare them for when it counts.  PNG and Vidor both run the exact offense and defense that they do in high school.  Did they win all their games? No. But, you are gaining years of experience and learning the terminology.  That's what it is all about.  Also, you MUST have an established off-season and summer program.  It is not optional, it is mandatory to compete at the level they play in week in and out in that district.  Proven fact weights make you bigger, faster, and strongrer.  It is obvious Lumberton does not do this, or they do not do it good enough.  Like a previous comment, you must also put your kids in postition to win.  If that means making a few moms and dads mad, so be it.  No reason you can not at least compete and be respected with what Lumberton has and will have coming up.  So, to answer the question, YES, it is time for a change.  Watch one of their games and tell me different.  If have seen it, and it is downright sickening to to watch.  When 8 coaches leave, one to be a head coach which is excusable, there is something up besides the money.  Ask around and they will tell you.  Everyone knows you dont get into coaching for the money,  it is for the kids.  The kids are the ones who are not getting "paid" enough.

First of all, none of these guys should be referred to as coaches.  Coaches coach on Thursday night, Friday night, or on TV on Saturday and Sunday.  They should be referred to as instructors at best, even wanna-be would be a better description.  If you constantly run your mouth every Saturday on the sidelines, run up the scores on a bunch of KIDS, pound your chest at work and tell your co-workers how great of a "coach" you are, and allow every jack@$$ parent on the sidelines to do the same, then you are asking for someone to exact revenge.  Is it right? NO.  But, there is nobody else to blame but these wanna-be's themselves.  You can't help but to feel sorry for their own kids as well.  Imagine what they deal with at home.  Did I also hear that some of these "coaches" were suspended for a few game?  Really? In Junior league football?  And your supposed to be in it to help the kids and teach them football?  Great job men!!!! You are great role models and should be very proud.  Hopefully the guys who run this league will wisen up and prohibit them from coaching further teams.

By reading your post, it sounds as if you're not even a wanna be.  So where does that leave you?  GET FOR REAL!!!  ;D
Wow!  That's all you can come up with?  You have to be one of them I was talking about!  You post like you attempt to "coach", pathetic!  If your upset by my post, it must have hit a nerve.  I call them like I see them.

  13. When will the idots at BISD and WB ever smarten up and do what is necessary?  Fire the staff and hire 82 and Alumni and all the other experts to take over the program so WB can finally win state again.  Apparently, that's all it is going to take.  It is that simple.
