3.
The worse district in the entire state, however, I know the players and the fans and the schools can do nothing about it, so I dont blame them. The UIL needs to do something about this district. How can a team make the playoffs with one win? That is completely insane and maybe unprecedented. I have a brother who coaches in another 1A district further North and he says that everyone laughs at this district. He will really laugh when I tell him this. Once again, I am not blaming anyone but the UIL. But, this is really..well...embarrassing. There is simply no other way to put it.
Oh Howard! I have been the apoligist for this district for some time and I guess I will have to do it one more time. Lets look at the facts...This district has produced in the last two years, a state baseball runner up, a football regional finalist and a basketball semi-finalist. In each case the teams that eliminated the Rebels was the eventual state champions, Windthourst in baseball, Falls City in football and Eula in basketball. The strength of the schools can be questioned, but with results like that its hard to call the district a joke. High Island will likely be in the playoffs as I do not see Sabine Pass defeating Burkeville. The Cardinals will have a difficult time with the Rebels, but stranger things have happened. But even if HI looses to Evadale teh way that the current system is set up they get to play. This was set up as a five team district two years ago and Chester dropped after the districts were announced. The four remaining went on. There was no option for anything else. If you have a problem with the system, fine I hate to tell you that there is NOTHING that you can do about it as the UIL is not a state agency, but a department of the University of Texas. You can't vote for a new UIL represenative you just have to live with what they put out. Including a system that will award a playoff spot to a team with possibly one win. This kind of thing is not new to the system however, one win maybe, but in the last couple of years there have been teams with 2 and 3 wins. See you at the beach HI on Friday night.
 4. If the Cardinals can keep players on the field they have a real chance to keep the Sharks at home one more year. The Cards had a half time lead on Burkeville before the wheels came off due to injuries. So if they can keep their people off the sidelines they really do have a chance to win. Last week when the Sharks traveled here to Evadale, I thought we were in for a good game. They have some good looking athletes and some leadership that has been in their program for many years. When the Shark defense forced a fumble on the Rebels in their first series I was really thinking it was going to be a tough game, but as the game wore on what really got me was how undisciplined the Sharks became. Now I do understand that when the score gets out of hand that things can happen, but it seemed excessive and I was also bothered once late in the 3rd quarter when one of the Sharks ran for a first down and got up and made an NFL-like first down point. The ironic thing was the Rebels were up by 40 something. Not trying to bash anyone, but the old touchdown attage applies, "When you score act like you have been there before". I would say that applies to first downs too. I think it is going to be a close game, but if the Sharks play as undisiplined as they did last week I fear that their playoff drought will continue.

Good Day, Joharr From what Coach Williams told me he doubted that either WH or HD would be moving down, now Lovelady likely will, but the numbers you guys and HD reported were at or more than they were two years ago (again according to him) so coming down looks unlikely.
Hello to you Yeller!  So when will the UIL normally put out the official numbers? I didn't know Marberry was a senior, thanks HDcats0422.
I am not sure they put out the numbers until they release the districts. I believe that the coaches go into that meeting in February not having any idea of the cut offs for the classifications or the divisions. I could be wrong, but I know they do everything including scheduling once the districts are announced. It will be interesting to see what happens and where everybody lands when the announcement comes.
 6. Good Day, Joharr From what Coach Williams told me he doubted that either WH or HD would be moving down, now Lovelady likely will, but the numbers you guys and HD reported were at or more than they were two years ago (again according to him) so coming down looks unlikely.
 7. The Rebels lost a big senior class that was responsible for a run to the regional semi finals, but this years team is talented too. The Rebels have a 23 game home winning streak that this years senior class wants to keep going. They are beginning to click offensively with RB Kip Rawls needing 75 yards to reach 1000 for the season. The defense has scored three TD's in the last three games. The kicking situation has been worked out on kick offs and extra points. The return game produced its first TD last week. I saw some film of Cypress yesterday and they have some gifted athletes. #2 is as fast as any back the Rebels have faced this year and #23 the RB has great balance, he just does not go down. Last years game was the only loss that the Rebels had in the regular season so that does not sit well here in Rebel Land I can assure you. So back to the question, "will it be a good game like last year's?" I for one believe that it will be! To all the fans from Cypress there is one thing I can assure you. The traffic getting to The Battlefield will be much nicer than our getting to your place. So enjoy you ride in the country and I hope as many of you as possible come out to see the game, support your team and enjoy some football here in Evadale. See you Friday night!
 8. I have mixed emotions on this. Been on the losing end of some of those lopped side losses, but recently had to consider another point of view. If it is late in the season and teams you are playing are not really good when you get a lead and put in the second team or JV players then you are taking your players who will need to be sharp for the playoffs out of the game. Coaches will talk about reps. The average high school game offenses get between 45 to 60 snaps. If your team is winning then you could be looking at half to 3/4 of the snaps being taken by your first team. If you have a good team then your starters get as little as one game in two blow outs. That could really hurt you in the playoffs especially if your division has three teams which means that a district champ will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Also when second team guys or JV players get in the game then they want to prove themselves, so they are running hard, making plays and are up against players that are tired from playing the entire game up against fresh legs. Those players will whatever they can to score, impress the coaches and run up the score in the process. I agree with an earlier comment, about calling time outs and things that are out of the ordinary in order to score, but if you continue to run inside the tackles and the other team can't stop you then what are you to do. If you intercept passes and run them back for TD's. If you return punts for scores what are you suposed to do?...Take a knee starting once you get up by 21 or 35 or 42. What number is enough to start saying you won?
 9.
Now before I get the pm's and posts of complaint.....YES, the West Brook/Channelview game and the Buna/East Chambers game.  It is because they are Thursday games.  And a few had to be left off to get the list to 25.  Remember, just because a team does not appear on this list doesn't mean that we are slighting them. With that said, enjoy: Port Arthur Memorial/La Porte Barbers Hill/Goose Creek Memorial Baytown Lee/Galena Park Dayton/Crosby Beaumont Central/Lumberton Beaumont Ozen/Nederland Little Cypress-Mauriceville/Livingston Vidor/Port Neches-Groves Diboll/Kirbyville Hamshire-Fannett/Bridge City Orangefield/Hardin-Jefferson West Orange-Stark/Silsbee Cleveland/Liberty Coldspring/Huffman Anahuac/Newton Kountze/Woodville Warren/Hardin Corrigan-Camden/Deweyville Hemphill/San Augustine Colmesneil/West Hardin Hull-Daisetta/Lovelady High Island/Sabine PassB eaumont Kelly/Houston St. Thomas Beaumont Legacy/The Woodlands Christian Cypress Christian/Evadale /quote]
 10. Great homecoming victory for the Rebels Kip Rawls 147 yard rushing 2 TD's - 11 & 14 yards Jacob Conner 4 TD's - 19 yard reception, 55 yard interception ruturn, 47 & 10 yard run Brandon Bruce 2 TD's - 55 yard interception & 93 yard punt return Rebels close to 450 yards of total offense hekd Sharks to 39 yards of offense in first half not much more in second half even agaist JV defense. The team is doing the right things and has all but wrapped up a 4th straight district championship. 23 game home winning streak back to October 2007 and 23 straight district victories dating back to 2006. Say what you will about the district, but streaks that go back four or five years is nothing to snicker at. The Rebels have changed the cast of characters from the past few years but this year the Rebels are 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in district with a 6th straight playoff appearance assured and another district crown in within their reach. Great job Rebels!
 11. Evadale clinches a playoff spot with a win over Sabine Pass and no less than a tie for championship.

The Rebels will return three starters from last years State Runner Up team in shooting guard, Devon Murphy; small forward, Shawn Totten and point guard, Brandon Bruce. The Rebels lost the big senior class in numbers and height, but a couple of other players from last years team can be looked on to fill those wholes. Post, Kyle Taylor got plenty of playing time last season and playoff experience as well. Bradien Burford also was brought up from the JV by coach Laurence Williams so there are five players (four of those are seniors) who bring plenty of experience and knowledge of the system into this season. There are some talented players that will make the move up from the JV squad too!
Will The Rebels Win There Dist. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Have to say I like our chances to win district and make another run in the playoffs.

 17. Well i am sure I will get plenty back about the weak district, but I will write this anyway. The Evadale Rebels begin their quest tomorrow night for a 4th straight district football championship. They currently have a 21 game home winning streak that dates back to 2007. This years senior class has the opportunity to be the first that can boost of a district championship every year they were in high school. All but one of this years seniors were part of last years Regional Semi Finalist team that was finally able to get over the hump and win a playoff game. So whatever you think about District 14A Div 2 this team can continue the home winning streak with a victory over Burkeville on the BattleField tomorrow night and take the first step towards a 4th district championship in 4 years.

 19. The Rangers can stake a claim to be the hottest team in baseball going into the post season. They are healthy, the bats are clicking, pitching has been solid starters and bullpen, defense solid, players stepping up playing multipule positions, the MVP in Michael Young, a top closer in Feliz, 30/30 Kinsler, Napoli catching and with the bat, Hamilton at full strength, the experience of that years WS run, home field in the opening series. I will hand it to the Rays for a great strech run to reel in the Red Sox's, but remember that the Soxs had to have the worst Sept in MLB history from a first place team in the month to even be in the position to be in the playoffs. Let's go Rangers!

We have enjoyed some great runs here in Evadale in the past four years. ([glow=red,2,300]I don't want to sound like HD55 here)[/glow], but I have seen this years Rebel team show a great deal of character in their four games. This group of seniors has lost as many games this years as they have in any year of their high school careers and they really don't like the feeling, so I will go our on a limb and predict that the Rebels will spoil the Oilers homecoming on Friday night by the score of 20-14. This will be the Rebels final game before they start district, just like WH, so I know that both teams will be looking to play hard, play smart and stay healthy as the important games are still to come. I think that you are the kind of fan of your beloved Bobcats that I am for my Rebels. All of us supporting our teams is what has made this a great site to be a part of. 22.
I won't Jinx the pride and call the win right now, I will only say to Rebel Yeller don't go out too far on that limb as the branch just may snap come Friday. See ya at the game. Go Oilers!
With as dry as it has been the whole tree might fall over, but that is why the game is played which such a funny shaped ball, because you never know which way it is going to bounce. I have seen some outstanding athletes come out of our districts D1 & D2. I will never believe that some of them could not compete at the next level. WH has the recent example of Tyler Copeland! So when kids get fired up about making a play, making a statement or winning a game you can never count them out. The Rebels will never lay down and let anyone run over them. They will scrap, claw and fight until the final gun. So Friday night we will see how things come out. We have gotten used to winning here in Evadale and the players on this years team want to be sure they continue the tradition no matter who they play. Remember almost every player on this years team got playing time in the Area Championship game as either Varsity or JV players and about half of them were on the field for a good portion of the regional semi final game last season. They know what it takes to win and they are pretty good at it.
