This topic is already ridiculous. New names, new teams, and a wanna be from port arthur that can't wait to get into the district. This should be interesting and there will be plenty of crow to eat week after week. The dogs have a bullseye because everyone wants to beat the champ. In saying that , you have to go out and do it not just talk about it. So until someone beats me, then they are the team to beat PERIOD. So we will find out if everyone has the players and coaching to knock em off. Time will tell. With that, good luck to all the kids and coaches who are busting their ass to win a championship.

I always love it when I see stuff like this... It's like saying "If you take away those two fumbles and four interceptions, then we would have had 0 turnovers... "

We have seen the same posts and heard the blah blah blah for the past 3 years.  Yes, we lose kids every year, but always have a line of kids ready to step up.  We always have a target on our back, so nothing new this year.  From what I am hearing, another enjoyable season ahead.

The Bulldogs lost some really great players from last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, but we have some pretty great players coming back this year, so if you want our crown you better bring your "A" game cause we don't plan on giving it up.  OK Mayfield giving some you some help barking.

Guess we can let everyone have a little fun for now but come 2 a days and football season I think we will all see who the TOP DOG is. Little chatter on here about the Bulldogs but what chatter there is has us coming in around the middle of the pack. I think people will be surprised with the offense this year! Sure we lost some major guys on D but we have more than adequate athletes to do the job and like I said..Offense should be fun this year with some new looks!!!

ALL IN, as an update, Houston Power is expanding slowly in the Beaumont Area, but on purpose.  We now have two teams in Beaumont (Golden Triangle Area).  The entire Houston Power Organization (all in) only has 9 teams in total - 12U to 18U Gold.  So it is a small, but well controlled organization, and Nationally recognized.  In Beaumont, we have a 16U Team and now a 14U team (newly added).  Darren Swisher manages the 16U Team, and Jeff Boudreaux manages the 14U Team.   Both teams are coached by prior Division 1 players/current coaches.

Courtney Rhodus is the Head Coach (16U and 14U)  - Team Manager of Lamar University Softball.
Candyce Carter is an Assistant Coach (16U and 14U) - Two time Team Captain of Lamar University Softball, Power Alumni, and future University of Arkansas Coach.
Sonny Overstreet is an Assistant Coach on 16U - Stephen F. Austin University Baseball Alum.

I agree with what has been stated above.  Find what fits.   You may watch our practice and think what we do is not a fit for your daughter.  They will get pushed very hard (mentally and physically).  Conversely it may be exactly what you want as they will be well prep'd to handle the same at college ball.   I have four daughters myself and all are different, and not all are a fit for what HP does. So I'm a believer of testing all the opportunities available, then make a decision that fits your daughter the best.

As far as recruiting goes, folks can check out www.houstonsoftball.com and see what we have accomplished.

At the end of the day, and what I believe the most, she has to enjoy what she's doing to stay in the game and maximize her potential.  Keep checking teams out and you'll find the right fit.

This is the present and over the last what?, 3 years, nobody has beat them in 20-4A. Now will they be the most talented team next year? Probably not but until someone finally breaks through and beats them, the Bulldogs are the kings.

BIggest holes to fill will be on both lines with Washington, Malveaux, and Beau graduating on the defensive side and Brown and Brinkley gone on the offensive side...I look for the Dogs to be more explosive on offense while they adjust to not having serious beef on defense for the first time in a while...The Nederland defensive lines the last several years have been about as good as they get.

I expect a diferent type of Nederand team, but still a really good one...let's go for the quad, Dogs!

Nederland beat Klein Collins in the championship 11-3.  Madyson Guidry pitched for Nederland.  They went 5-0 (pitchers Madyson Guidry against Splendora, Dayton & Klein Collins, Tori Cooper against Caney Creek & Jessica Saenz against South Houston) and outscored opponents 45-7 on 37 hits.  Four home runs - (1) 2 run shot from Kelsey Beard (senior), (1) 2 run shot from Bailey Beard (freshman), (1) grand slam from Hannah Smith (freshman) and (1) 3 run home run by Madelyn Daniels (freshman).  Combined pitching ERA was .67 with only 2 ER.  Everyone produced at the plate and defense looked great.
