Agreed! From what I've seen and read from multiple forums, I think the cutoff is going to fall somewhere around 525-530

No clue, could be totally wrong here. Just going off the numbers and projections I’ve seen. Enrollment seems to be down, especially in 4A/3A.

That’s what I was thinking too. From everything I’ve seen cutoffs look to go down not up.

Wouldn’t that put 4A higher than 530?Seems opposite of what I’ve seen on here.

Completely understand that. The district has not done well at making our school appealing at all. I will say that if a coach can win here, and that doesn’t have to mean playoffs every year, he will have the community behind him. We have a strong fan base out here.

Fully aware that Tarkington is more “stepping stone” than “landing spot” at this point. Also agree that the “front office” needs to put a better foot forward.

So what should be the course of action? Does the school just stay the course? We’ve literally regressed since Taylor left for Hardin. We’ve gone from back to back 4 win seasons (which is a good year for Tarkington let’s be honest) to now winless again.

Definitely a good point, being a closed district we have to play the kids we have. That being said we weren’t devoid of talent completely. Good coaches that care and aren’t just cashing a check should know how to get the most out of the players they have. The team we had this year was undisciplined, not in football shape and that is a direct correlation to coaching no matter the talent level. Been in this area all my life, graduated from Shepherd and have seen my fair share of crappy teams and coaches. Will say the one we’ve fielded In Tarkington the past few years takes the cake.

I agree but we also played some 3A teams with the same result.

I agree that it’s not an ideal job but I’m sure there are coaches out there that can get something out of our boys and at least field a competitive team. Don’t have to win a lot but at the very least be competitive.

Well they got one….thats about all that can be said about it. The sad thing is that it’s the kids that suffer.

Oh 100% our boys looked defeated before the games started but the coaches gotta keep them in it. All we can hope is that this season will be used as a learning tool.

We get no enthusiasm from our staff, plenty of high fives and fist bumps but no enthusiasm, excitement or communication when it comes to the game.

I get kids being kids to an extent but no that crap didn’t happen back then at all! Coaches too busy being friends and not leaders. We have the same issue right now.

There was a whole lot of extra curricular going on all game. By 4th quarter it was a bomb waiting to go off.

Have noticed the numbers have dropped across the board. That’s what I was afraid of. All we can hope for is different competition, we were way out of our league.

Tarkington is down as expected. Good we didn’t belong in 4A at all.
