  1. PNG is a strong team this year. They played great. They’ll make a good playoff run if they keep improving on the court, which I’m sure they will. I think they will give BU and WB a good run this year. What hurt BC was losing Smart to a high ankle sprain right before the game. His defense intensity sets the tone for us. Losing him showed big time but we will adjust. Good luck to PNG this year.
  2. BC lost to Yates by 1 point in the playoffs last year. Yates was a better team than Denham Springs in my opinion. With what BC has been working with this season, a 30 point loss was better than what I thought it would be. BC has lacked defense in a terrible way so far. All of BCs losses have stemmed from that and selfishness. If BC would be able to meet up with Denham Springs again in a couple weeks, it would be a different outcome now that we have some defensive contributors. If anyone is bragging about beating BC so far this season, trust me, that is not a brag!
  3. Hopefully that is about to change for BC now that football lost out!
  4. BC is struggling right now. There isn’t a lack of defense, it’s practically nonexistent. No offensive rebounds, no second shots. Watching loose balls. The chemistry is way off. Too many bad fruits in the bowl if that makes sense. Things will change once we get the football boys back and we have that camaraderie that we’re so badly missing right now. Great win for Orangefield…wish we had another one scheduled where we’re fully staffed. Good luck to OF this season and hope they make a deep run.
  5. We actually have 4 players coming from football. All very solid players too! My son is Aaden Bush and I know he will be thrilled to have all of those guys back with him for sure. I’m partial to him so you can imagine how I feel about him. Mungy creates a whole different dynamic on the team, and in my opinion, the best point guard in the district. It actually might be a fact. I think we will have a great showing from Denison, Smart and Silveira, our big man, this year too. Denison is great at the 3 but can also drive to the basket. Smart is second to none on defense and is a great role player. I look forward to a lot of dunks from Silveira this year. Those guys have been playing travel ball together for 10 years and their chemistry is incredible. Other players I expect to see good things from are Nelson and Jennings. Nelson is big and athletic and can get his head close to the rim. Jennings is a freshman and although he doesn’t have the experience most of these guys do, he’s learning quick and I think he’ll be a great asset for the team as well. He’s got some great guys to look up to for sure. All in all, this is the year these guys have been waiting for and they are hungry for it! Thankful these boys have Coach Daspit and they want to make him one of the most winningest coaches to come through Bridge City. Once the whole team is back together, it’ll be very interesting!
  6. Bridge City 58, Huffman 51 final
  7. BC vs. Livingston game has been moved to Saturday at 1pm
  8. 24-5 BC over HF at the end of the first half
  9. 14-2 BC over HF 2:45 left in 1st first half
  10. Congratulations Aaden Bush and Warren Brewer!
  11. How true your words are! Look at Bridge City. We’ve made the playoffs 2 years in a row and have gotten to the second round both times. That is such a great achievement for us. Then I read the other day that kids are talking about moving out of Silsbee because they lost out early?! Really? Has the mindset gotten that bad that they can never lose? This is humbling for them for sure but a great reason to come back strong which I’m sure they will.
  12. And BC is a team of Juniors! We’re returning all by 2 next season. 18-4A should be very interesting!
  13. I’m still wondering how Robertson built this team with only 3 returning Varsity players. Mungy never stepped on the court or put a jersey on last year so how could that count? BC doesn’t even play the same game as when he was there. There's actually chemistry now in the program. Not putting down Robertson, but this is not the same team by a long shot! This team and last year’s team is night and day different. The bitterness and jealousy of his family to get on here and not give Daspit credit for this season is astounding. I mean, why even comment at all? Daspit didn’t cause Robertson to lose his job! Last year’s team would have lost by 60 to the Yates team that BC played last night! This game is posted on YouTube. Just search for Bridge City Cardinals vs. Jack Yates Lions. It’s hard to listen to with all of the noise makers banging though.
  14. No matter what school you’re for, if you watch this game film back, it will piss you off to no end!
  15. 76-38 Bridge City final
  16. 48-27 BC end of the 3rd
  17. You made it a point to point out that BC went 0 for 8 in the first half when that gentleman gave BC a compliment for good shooting. A lot of us here wonder why negativity is always highlighted for BC and never anything positive.
  18. Does it matter what half BC shot better in? The only numbers that matter are the final score!
  19. Bridge City has not played a district game yet with a full, healthy team. Even against Silsbee, Mungy, the PG had a bad ankle sprain, reinjured it that game and hasn’t played since. The game against LCM was absolutely ridiculous. Had I known better, it seemed as if all 3 refs had put the stripes on for the first time that game. Very poor job of controlling the game and surprised no one got hurt. It was wild to watch and rewatch on video.
