  1. Another reunion for Ball High coach By Joshua Buckley The Daily News Published September 9, 2009 GALVESTON — For new Ball High head coach David Suggs, the reunion tour continues for another week. A week after facing off against La Marque, a school where he was formerly an assistant coach, Suggs and the Tors are playing host to Beaumont Central. Suggs was the Central head coach from 2002-03. “It’s somewhat like another La Marque for me, except I was actually the head coach at Central,†Suggs said. “We were very successful while I was there, and there are a number of guys on that staff that I know. The current head coach (Andrew Washington) was an assistant on my staff, so I still have a lot of relationships over there.†During his time at Beaumont Central, Suggs was 18-6. Entering the season, he had a 60-37 record as a head coach. Suggs’ tenure as the Ball High coach didn’t get off to the best of starts last week, as the Tors were shut out by La Marque 26-0. The new flexbone offense that Suggs and his staff installed was a bit shaky, gaining just 120 yards. Suggs said such a complicated system will take some time for his squad to master. “I just ask that people stay patient about the offense,†Suggs said. “They really need to consider the amount of time that the kids have had to work and learn the offense. They had 10 days in the spring, 10 in the fall, and then we went straight to scrimmaging. “It’s a process, and it’s going to take time. We aren’t going to cut any corners, and we want to make sure the kids have a strong understanding of it from the foundation.â€
  2. 3 years ago, Kirbyville was in District 21-3A. They dropped down to 2A during the last realignment.
  3. 2A: Newton Kirbyville Hardin Buna East Chambers 1A: Evadale H-D West Hardin
  4. "22-5A"? I was ready to choose Pearland or Deer Park. Da Brook and Memorial are in 21-5A.

  6. Geez, you're joking right? Anyone who thinks 20-4A "is not as strong as it has been in the past", is someone who has been on the back 9 too long.
  7. lol! I was wondering how long it would take someone from PN-G to notice this
  8. Jaguars have a Ball during visit to the Isle. Prior to H-J game, Vidor's Coach Mathews issues a bold challenge to every private Christian school in Texas. St. Pius coach not interested. A proud Rebel yell heard coming from a stadium in Evadale. Lions reported to be on the run on Hwy. 96. Joel Osteen invites PN-G's Coach Faircloth to address the masses at Lakewood Church. L-Train rolls to 3-0. A Tiger head sticker is placed on the side of the engine.
  9. Very true Soulja. I was talking to one of my buds who coaches at Clear Lake last night. From what he had heard, Ball's enrollment is down to around 1,200 and headed to 4A during the next realignment. They could petition the UIL to stay 5A, but so far, they do not appear to want to go that route. Primary reason: of the remaining students, not many went out for football this year. So no, this is definitely not the same Ball High that we all remember. Eventually things will turn around once more folks move to the isle.
  10. LOL! I hear ya 82. I logged onto the 5A Texas Football site earlier and noticed a stifling scent of crow in the air...
  11. I just watched most of the video and it was a good game. PN-G's offense looks much improved this year on the ground and in the air. I think you guys probably have one of the biggest O-lines in several years IMO. QB Doty has a very strong arm and several of those incomplete passes should have been caught. The defense did a good job on pursuing Merka and keeping him in check and forced him to hurry several of his passes. The most glaring area for improvement during practice this week will need to be special teams. The two fumbles during punt returns, (one of them led to Crosby's only points of the game) could be game changers deeper into the season. But my overall assessment is PN-G looks to have the right pieces in place at the key positions. This week's game with TC should be a good test.
  12. I will go with the Rebels in this one, but Kountze will still put up a good fight at home.
  13. After a tough loss to OF, I am going to predict that the Coogs bounce back in this one.
  14. Yep and I bet it will be the last time 9/10 people picks Crosby this year. 8)
  15. TC had to come from behind to beat Alvin last night 28 - 24 on a TD pass with 16 seconds left. 0-2 Alvin has never been known as a 5A powerhouse and this TC team is nothing like the TC teams of the past. With that said, they still can not be taken lightly. This will be a good test for PN-G, but it is definitely a test the Inidians can pass if they limit their mistakes and seal the ends.
  16. Yep, this game turned out exactly like I thought it would. Great job Hornets!
