    amazing to me that smithson valley was a 3rd place finisher in their own district now playing for a state title. Back in the 90s they wouldnt have even made the playoffs.

    No coincidence its first year of the split UIL divisions.

    Only possible because of the watered down UIL splitting into two divisions. Many "firsts" happening, teams making it to the finals or advancing deep because they are not having to play each other.

    AMC was the favorite based on what? Last year AMC did not even make the playoffs and BH was in the regional finals? Both undefeated district champs. I would say that was a definite toss up and if I am not mistaken AMC was running a freshman setter. Maybe based on strength of schedule you could say AMC had a similar record while playing much tougher opponents throughout the season. BHs best win may have been 2A Iola? In my opinion in VB losses by 6 and 7 points in a set is convincing much less 3 sets in a row.
