  1. Byron Dawson - Defensive Coordinator is a 1998 Evangel graduate. Three out of the four years Byron played football for ECA the Eagles won the state championship. He was an All American his senior year and was voted All City, All Caddo, All District, All State, MVP, and Louisiana defensive MVP. He was also a two-time state champion in the shot-put while at Evangel. He signed a four year full scholarship to LSU where he received a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in history. He was also a four year starter and received defensive player of the game in 2001 SEC Championship. He coached the defensive line at Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge in 2004. God called Byron and his wife Tinisha back to Shreveport last year.
  2. B. Doty from PN-G a Jr. next year, will be good if the right coach gets the job.
  3. Chris Golke at the Reservation against WO-S clocked a kid on a play. On a later punt return the kid from WO-S caught Golke not looking. Golke looked like a drunk walking sideways off the field.
  4. I can promise you there is not a lack of talent. Look accross the area at what PN-G kids are doing in baseball. Watch what our varsity baseball team does the next three years. These kids at all ages perform well, show disipline, and are very athletic. The key factor is coaching. Our football coaches are handcuffed, the middle schools only have two fulltime coaches and limited time. The high school coaches are then forced to teach fundamentals from the beginning. We have junior league football now but this just started a few years ago. We should have all these football experts hold camps and teach fundamental before the kids reach middle school. Why does Dustin Long not come in and host a summer camp at PN-G? I am sure parents would be willing to pay for this training.
  5. Lumberton fans get used to High School Referees. I have seen these type of games help us and beat us. These are High School Refs , this is not their full time job. A tip for you in the playoffs, do not expect any calls, refs in the playoffs tend to let the teams play and do not call many penalties which is what I seen last night. There was holding on just about every play on both sides. That being said, I love how physical the Raider team played, reminds me of our better years when we rolled over people. Good luck in the playoffs.
  6. I like MB but he has to realize his OC is terrible. I have a DVD of an 8th grade football game between Groves and Port Neches, in which MB was the commentator, these teams used more offensive sets then the current varsity. These kids are capable of more and the OC should keep teaching in the classroom but give up trying to be something he's not. PN-G has too much talent to be putting this team into bad situations, a team has to have more than three pass routes to be succesful. I am not saying PN-G needs to be a passing team but you have to have the threat to open up the run.
  7. Dustin Long knows Burnetts game management skills too well, he has a brighter future then letting Burnett bring him down.
  8. No comparing Newman to Burnett, it is not even close. PN-G has needed an offensive coordinator since Long left.
  9. 1. PN-G - More team speed then I have ever seen on the Indians. 2. Lumberton - Tough kids will be contenders year in and year out from now on. 3. Central - Good talent and speed usually give the Indians trouble. 4. Nederland - If they get the spread rolling, QB and receivers are very talented. They will outscore teams in district. Honorable Mention - Livingston and Ozen but niether can beat the top three.
