What are the rules for pitching in HS playoff baseball?  In a three game series can Nederland pitch their ace in games 1 and 3?  If so, why can't Nederland beat Friendswood or anyone else in a three game series?  Throw the ace in game 1 and get the W.  Next man up in game 2 and see what happens.  If there is a game 3, throw the ace again and roll the dice.  Is there an innings limitation for pitching in HS baseball?  I'm not saying ruin the kid's arm or future D-1 career, but ride him as far as possible in the playoffs.  Just need the bats to get hot.

Each pitcher gets 110 pitches for that series.

Who you got?  Kountze has been on a roll lately, but if Hardin wants post-season action, they have to pull off the upset.

Hardin won in the first round 6-5.  A Kountze win and they secure the 2nd seed.

If Hardin wins, they'll have a chance with a play-in game as 2 or 3 teams will end district play tied for the 4th seed.

was there a big fight last time they played?

Coach Rich was the offensive coordinator at Fort Bend Travis for years he was also calling plays alongside Jeryl Brixey (offensive coordinator at Katy) so you can't say the top 3 haven't been a coordinator that's false

Where did you find that info?

You would think you would want to tell people that info. They talk about his degree but nothing about being a OC.

Nederland, Tx — – Nederland ISD is proud to announce the new Athletic Director and Football Head Coach. After an interview process including several qualified candidates, Scott Rich was selected as the new Athletic Director and Football Head Coach. Rich has served at Katy High School in Katy ISD for 8 years as the Assistant Football Coach over quarterbacks. He holds a degree from The University of North Texas.

Because, if you were not a coordinator you will not understand football? Position coaches across the state participate in the process with coordinators. I suspect Nederland will be perfectly fine.

    To a point YES.

You have 3 coaches that have never called a play at the varsity level.

Big difference in calling plays and making sure the punt team get on the field.

It is all good until it is not

Uhhh they only won by 1 or 2 points last yr. Guess we shall see! Don't put the cart before the Eagle!!!

Lost by 5 points last year and beat them by 1 the year before and lost by 20 3 years ago.

Woodville is 24-41 against Newton and has only beaten them once since 1994.

With Woodville getting a new QB if I had to bet on the game today Would pick Newton

Exactly, we have been dropping in high school numbers. We are the second smallest school in class 3A2. This alignment we did not lose numbers. Hopefully numbers will slightly go up when the bio refinery gets going. Several years ago we had a soph.,JV and varsity teams and now we have a JV and varsity. Our JV was made up of 31 freshman.   Waskom used to be a 3A2 power. As they lost kids there program went south. They are now in class 2A and there winning program will go back up.

Time to pull a little WOS magic.

Ha ha yall don’t want me to get off the board. No one from Kelly has recruited anyone for anything. I only know off their coach we received lessons from him, and the kids I speak of play Football, Softball and Baseball. Their parents have asked my opinion of what it takes to play at the next level and what they could do to help make it a reality,  I help everyone as best as I can to guide them in the right direction. Not everyone likes what I have to say and that’s fine . Every one is responsible for their own kids development, I have put in 25 years and thousands of hours it seems with my own and others as of now 8 kids have went on to the next level from 4 different schools.  But being a liar and idiot what do I know.

This should make for an awkward senior night.

Make sure you let those coaches know how you feel to their face.

1 last reply and I am done. Do you remember the 3rd game of the malakov series. The game ended with an error that cost us the game. That is not what cost us the game , the decision not to use our ace who had 20 something pitches left is what actually cost us the game. As in Huntington the starter had 20 pitches left. Again decisions ultimately cost us again. I would expect you to know this but I guess not. There are no kids capable of playing perfect baseball all the time. Coaching decisions play a larger role than you think. By the way I’m not the ones calling the school board. I am done. So you are correct I don’t care and I have been biting my tongue all year. I do have 4 friends with kids that have D1 aspirations that will be a bigger pain in the neck than me. I have been relatively civil.

Coaches are not perfect just as the kids are not perfect.

Woodville doesn't have 2 D1 kids on the baseball team much less 4.

If your friends think their kids is D1 caliber maybe they should contact Kellys coach.

He has been recruiting all the D1 kids he can find.

You should know that since Kelly contacted your kid to play there.

Look up the term credulous. There is more going on than meets the eye. Did the umpire not send the first baseman’s mitt back, was it not a huge embarrassment for the entire team. Did many school board members not get a call. You know yourself there are problems, keep your head in the sand. You are part of the problem.

Sounds like you and other parents should start a booster club like many other schools have.

I guarantee not one kid was embarrassed because a piece of equipment broke.

Most baseball teams in texas are behind football when it comes too funding.

There are lots of schools worse off than Woodville not to say they could not use some new equipment.

It's not politicking it's actual results between him and Barrow it's like night and day...as far as who Nederland will or won't beat Coach Rich expects to play after Thanksgiving time will tell

    Playing after Thanksgiving?

Is he going to coach Basketball also?

So who do YOU think Nederland can beat in district?

  14. 1 hour ago, NHSBulldogFan said:

That's a little harsh...Barrow had a winning record and made the playoffs 5 out of those 7 years including a trip to the 3rd round in 2020 it was the last 3 years that did him in...On a different note I like everything Coach Rich has done up to this point and I'm not the only one who thinks that

Looks like Rich knows how politic according to you but what happens when he goes 2-5 or 1-6 in district this year and the next?

Who does Nederland think they are going to beat besides Splendora or West fork?

InWell he was vetted by some football savvy guys.  If they didn’t think he’s got what it takes he wouldn’t be there.  Nothing in sports is certain but so far so good in my opinion.

    You hope so.

My point is that you would think at least 1 of your top two guys would have some coordinator experience at a school like Nederland.

As long as the Dawg pound is happy everybody should be happy........
