I’m not Hardin faithful but I can’t understand your logic. Stevie Wonder can see that Buna and Hardin are in different stratosphere’s athletically, much less equal. I’m not sure of your angle on this unless you’re a big Larry Haynes supporter. I’m the one who said Ned Barrier wouldn’t be outcoached this year last week. And considering the void in talent Hardin is playing with I’m pretty sure that’s still the case. The last two times Hardin and Buna have played the average score has been 49-7. That includes a 28-0 shutout and a 70-14 loss to Buna in 2018 when Hardin had a 7-4 record and made the playoffs. So if Hardin’s most successful recent team gets smashed by a 3rd place Buna 70-14.... I’d think a really untalented Hardin team getting beat by a 2nd place (most likely) Buna team 26-0 is progress. Barring the scoop and score and Hornet TD that was called back it sounds like it could’ve even been a little closer on the scoreboard. You’ve gotta run before you can walk. And as far as i saw Against Anahuac and HD in person and film against Hearne, the kids are playing in the right positions. Potetz can play QB/RB/WR. Put him anywhere and he can play. Other than him the little QB is probably the best athlete on the team but he’s not capable of being a lead RB. He throws the ball well and is getting better. Potetz at full time QB just doesn’t make sense on this team because every team can key on him from the snap no questions asked. They try to move him around from deep i-back to split wide, in the slot and wildcat QB. When you’ve got one dynamic playmaker only you’ve gotta move him around to attempt to get him in space or second level. They’ve got decent size on the O-Line including Thonsgard who plays hard. The big TE can block and get get downfield with a big target zone. The little WR’s don’t offer a ton after the catch but they block well and run good routes. So I’m not sure who’s playing out of position.

If they give Barrier a few years he can help build a program. It WILL NOT happen overnight and folks already questioning his coaching really don’t know what goes into building a winning team and program.

So some Hardin folks might be missing Larry Haynes, but the ones who know what they’re watching don’t miss him at all.

I’m with you brother!!! The only to be seen factor is if Nasty Ned can get us to the playoffs during his tenure. So far in Hardin that has only been a Larry Haynes occurrence as of lately.

    lets give him a chance!

He was literally hired at the absolute last minute, in the middle of COVID, and given a severely sub par roster with which to work. Of course you have to give him more time. I am still surprised he was able to pull a staff together. He needs at least enough to time to filter a few groups through an offseason program to see what might be able to be built there. Those already pointing fingers clearly have no idea what goes into building a somewhat successful program. I'd say the issues in Hardin have less to do with the coaches, and more to do with the gene pool.

I do believe you are right about needing more time. But we cannot use covid as our excuse and this roster is full of All district players from a year ago. Now 7-3 may have been wishful thinking but staring at 2-7 sure aint what the expectations were. Everyone is dealing with the same issues we are.  Once he gets these coaches trained up and the kids buy in we will be alright.

Where is our boy @Chuckwagon to defend the coaches?

I’ll be honest I’m at a loss for words right now. Not how i saw this all panning out. I thought randy snell did a great job of getting coaches back in here after only having a handful the year before. but its clear there are some real inexperienced coaches on staff mixed with kids playing out of position. I hate to say this but haynes and them made in game adjustments and haven’t seen that this year once. Maybe its the boys learning the new systems i dont know.

i do believe giving ned more time will help out build some consistency. But i also understand the folks shouting about opening this job up at the end of the season. My vote is to give the man more time. And with our strength coach actually involved now things will get better.

Don't know, nephew couldn't give me any details. He's now saying Trenton Dickey from Hardin. He's on the Splendora roster with Maxpreps. 6-4,245.

Trenton is a good player he was All-District TE/LB for Hardin last two years. Going to really miss having him we dont have any other linebackers his size in Hardin and he could carry the ball for a solid 3-4 a carry.

If that rumor is true would this be the 2nd time they have had to pay off Haynes??

Yes! This is the second time. I’m sure our awesome auxiliary staff or maintenance men would of liked to see some of that money.

instead lets pay 3 people to do the same job and give one the year off. Its like a divorce cheaper to keep her.

Rumor has it Haynes was paid over 70k to be relieved of his duty. Doesn’t sound like a guilty man to me.

How much!?!?! I knew they were doing a deal but didn’t realize that much of our tax payer money was going to a pay off!

So now we are paying an AD, Head Football Coach, and Larry during the middle of a pandemic?!

boy you sure can’t make this stuff up. Hardin America! Guess Larry will be on a golf course while us poor stiffs are digging ditches.

So let me get this right....this preview features player(s) that arent there and coaches that aren't there.......that's the most Hardin thing ever!

At this point I’m just happy we have a full coaching staff again because last year was embarrassing. I’m not gonna pretend to know what the board decides but last year was clearly chaotic between AD/Board/Sup. I feel like AD just gave up after his hands were tied. That being Mvisible was disappointing. I feel like our Seniors season was sacrificed for a childish cause.

glad things are back on track!

    Go Hornets! Go Coach Barrier!

There better some of the Resceno's (sp?) or Scott's kids coming through the pipeline for any of this to be even remotely possible.

We don’t have them but got an army of tough country boys. The only thing that will slow us down a bit is the team having to learn a new offense and defense in the middle of a pandemic. Y’all wait and see the results!

Why the confidence all of a sudden in Hardin to go 8-3 ?  New coach?  New kids with new coach?  Move-ins ?   My feelings are, if the almighty Haynes could not win 5 games in Hardin last year, how are they going to turn that program around that fast with the same kids.  No happening in my opinion.

All of the above. This group is special been that way since Pee Wee ball.

    "8-3 anything else is unacceptable"

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This new guy practice Vodoo or something?!

    Barrier knows our expectations

going to do a great job! Finally some good coaching going on you wait and see. Plus is able to bring in his guys. Will be a world of difference with much needed discipline.

  11. Can we end all this talk on haynes? He is down the road and surely happy. Lets see what Barrier can do. I feel they are gonna whip EC and put Anahuac back in there place. We all know this team should be 8-3.. anything less is unacceptable with the talent level of these Hornets

So excited for change and some real coaching! Time to get the boys program back on track!
