I'll be making a trip to the Horseshoe in Lake Charles Friday to place a big bet if the line does go to -7.5 PN-G.
My book currently has it SOC -3
I'd still take that.

These games get bet on in Vegas. Vegas pros handicap these games. I don't condone that and I don't bet but I do look to get the truth and a good look at what's expected by experts. The real experts. This game opened up at PNG minus 3. Word is it might be PNG minus 7.5 by kickoff.
Im not saying go bet or condoning that, but not everybody thinks this is gonna be a cakewalk for SOC. Just saying. Take it for what it's worth.

I hope SOC tries to man cover #10 and #18. Also, our LB core is gonna have a good day. SOC doesn't seem to believe in lead blocking. After watching numerous games, if I didn't know records etc and just had to choose from film, I'd play SOC before I played FBM or LBJ again
Should be a good one! Definitely a winnable game if PNG brings what they are capable of.

Yes, Lamar stadium, I can still see that Indian dancing just before kick off. The PN-G fan base was unbelievable. Jasper made the statement that they would never play there again.
That game was in Pasadena. We played Crosby at Lamar. But, you're absolutely right. Ron won that matchup!

1989 bi district game? I would have sworn that game was played at old Lamar cardinal stadium.
Lamar game was against Crosby. 22 degrees and sleeting.

Remember the jasper playoff game at pasadena cold i sit on jasper side waving png flag!!
I was on that defense. In the Jasper game I got knocked smooth cold out on a play and played the rest of the game and I didn't even know where I was. Good times! It's funny not to remember a whole game but yet I remember everything up to getting smoked crystal clear. Until the lights went out for a minute. The last thing I remember is being in air, horizontal. 🤣🤣

#16 not 19
That's what I meant. 16 and 6 showed up and showed out last week! Just like they do every week. Great linebacker core with those 4.

I don't disagree that they will have their hands full but neither line of theirs looks big to me. They look small and quick.
Looks the same to me. They look small and quick. I think they are going to have their hands full with our front 7. #6 #3 #19 #7 as well as our 3 staple d line guys are hard to handle. It's gonna be a fun one to watch!

Defense wins championships. PNG defense is fierce. Gonna be a great match up seeing PNG defense against the LH run.

In line at the gate with several other folks. Already had two stadium workers walk up and ask what in the world we were doing. We told em get ready, the crazy fans are coming. Lol

Tickets just went on sale. GoFan website.

If you take away the two costly turnovers that gave FBM 14 points in the ball game on punts this game is a different story. We were way more physical than FBM and they were having players getting taken off the field all night due to the fact. 6-7 times as a matter of fact. Not to mention we also had our QB banged up and take of the field for a few series in this one. If PNG can limit the QB and RBs big plays defensively and play solid coverage down field we can win this game. Gonna need the defense to play inspired football and we need the offense to play a full 2 half's without the 3rd quarter lull we seem to have. If PNG can play all 4 qrts they can beat anyone left in this thing.

Calpreps predicting this game..
PNG 28- Brehnam 22

So in 5a D2 there are 118 teams. Dave Campbell has computer rankings for them all. Austin LBJ's Opponents have the following ranks-see below.
Lowly Nederland "47th ranked" would have won 7 out of 8 of these district games. These teams are among the worst in 5a D2. I'm not impressed with LBJ at all. Not saying they aren't good but this is why they aren't ranked higher.
Weiss-46th in 6a
Manor 81st in 6a
Navarro 112
Travis 114
LASA 117
Eastside 118
Northeast 98
Mcallum 64
Crockett 61
Playoff game Elgin 68
They're either gonna prove they can live up to the stats or they are about to get exposed. I'm curious where PNG stands in those rankings.
-
Am I the only one that thinks LBJ hadn't played anyone and these numbers are skewed? If you look at their 3 non district opponents, they lost to two teams who isn't better than PNG and had a close game with another. I watched the Elgin game and it literally looked like they were playing a JV team.
Obviously I'm biased and wishful thinking but I think there is some validity to my thoughts on this one.
Could it be PNG comes out and punches them in the mouth and LBJ doesn't have an answer? I'm totally sold on PNG being by far the best LBJ has faced all year.
Thoughts?

I think LCM is gonna be very good. I saw them scrimmage PNG JR White from across the practice field and it looked like LCM had some big boys. Saw them score a time or two throwing the ball deep. Looked like a pretty even game from what i could see kinda just watching here and there. Also watched one of the Lumberton teams playing one of the other PNG Jr teams saturday (maybe gray?) around noonish??and the Lum team had a kid #22 that looked like he was running a track meet. They looked good although the PNG team looked young as all get out. PNG White I think has a shorter, stocky running back kid that will take your head off and another back that looked good...both can run the ball well...watched the stocky kid from across the field throw a sideline block that hurt me just to watch it. Grown man type hit.
Just my two cents from what i've seen...
of course I haven't seen everyone or even close but LCM and PNG White will be in the running if i know anything about judging how good youth teams are. Seemed better than average that's for sure.

PNG is going to be tough this year. Well coached and good group of kids. My nephew plays and caught his game saturday. I'm guessing its gonna be between PNG and BC this year. My bets on the experienced coaching of PNG. The looked tough saturday.

anything can happen...

I will give credit to the PNG team tonight. They outplayed our Pirate team.
But the above posts really help explain all the PNG hate in Southeast Texas.
But laugh it up.....Ya'll get the win tonight!

Funny...Vidor displays a run through sign saying our boys aren't "real men" because their coach doesnt believe in it and they do what they are told, but we are the bad guys for making funny comments?? Hate to say it but ...looks like our "girls" took it to your "real men" tonight.
I really wouldnt call it PNG Hate...more like PNG Jealousy
