Jack of All Trades

Elvis Presley no doubt but for some reason the coaches we've had don't understand that. Last one to understand was Coach Handcock but he spent a lot of time with football. The guy we have now only does basketball and think that's making a difference. His energy is crazy, he is the only coach working with over 40 young men in the gym starting at 6:30 with freshman and JV then running practice after school. My nephew loves playing for him I just hope we get him some help and don't tire him out

West Orange Stark has a nice kid name Michael Wardlow who transferred in from Dallas. This kid is silky smooth. Also like our sophomore class who has some promising athletes that can handle the rock.

My Mustangs showed up and showed out today. I get that Kountze is down but my Mustangs sat their starter the whole 4th quarter in both games. I have not seen this in forever. Wilson has these boys flying around and it's scarry because he doesn't have the football boys yet. I'm excited to see what he can do with these athletes. How bout my MUSTANGS!!!

West Orange Stark is really young. They had 3 starters out, 2 for injury and senior for band senior night. 1 was the coaches daughter, the other 5'10 freshman big girl that has showed promise and the only senior on the team. If they get healthy they have the chance to give their district a lot of problems.

I haven't heard of any transfers from BU to the Fruit. Do know that we had a kid from Doby that's on the football field that should make us bigger and better on the court. What I like about Wilson is that he recruits the hallways and does it with our kids that are already here. I've seen a lot of coaches come and go here at WOS but haven't quite seen one that works as hard as him. He continuously has his athletes do weight training, jumping and skills. The Proctor kid that barely played last year has gained 20 pounds of muscle, now 6'6 and is dunking with ease. I asked the kid the other day what have you been doing and he said coach makes us jump and lift. I think people will be surprised what we have building under Wilson.

I am happy that we have thread going this long about Orange County Basketball so it's a win already. That being said here is my prediction for the district. Silsbee (have to stick with the Kings until their dethroned) LCM (I would not be surprised if the win the district) a lot of team chemistry and they shoot it well. WOS (even with the girls coach he will get them better, my niece is in college because of Coach Wilson, he's a players coach and our boys will respond after the Barstow beat downs) It also helps that he had a 6'4 transfer from Dallas and a 6'2 from Doby Lumberton (D1 Mcclure should get them there. Also better defensively than the remaining in the district)

I know most aren't paying attention but all the Orange Counties Schools will be battling it out in the same district this year. Most on here think and rightfully so that the District will be controlled in Hardin County with Silsbee and Lumberton. However, I will not be surprised if one of the Orange County Schools takes the district 22-4A this season. Here's why? Jesse Doucett from LCM is a stud and his team is seasoned to make a run. I had the opportunity to watch in a summer league ran at a local church this summer and they're very fun to watch. Also they have been playing with each other for a while now. Sophomore guard is one of the best on ball defenders I have seen in the OC. Wrinkle from OF can shoot lights out and is surrounded with shooters. Wrinkle has the highest basketball IQ in OC and can take over a game. He really makes everyone around him better. BC is another shooting team that will be fun to watch on offense. They're going to put shots up and they will go in. They can shoot from 1-5 and their bench can shoot it to. You can't sleep when guarding any of their dudes. Vidor is always a tough nosed team that will pose trouble every outing. They were the only team I did not see in the summer league and the one I know the least about. WOS has athletes and with their new coach who coached my niece last season will be fun to watch. I guarantee he will let his athletes play. As always football will hurt WOS but when he get them boys in the mix they will be really good. Difference between him and last few coaches is he coaches only basketball. So he keep they gym open and his boys stay shooting the ball which we need over here. These are just a few reason why I think that Orange County can make some noise.

After Wilson work with the girls I think WOS got it right hiring him for the boys. Not because Boys position is more important than girls but knowing this guy he wanted to be on boy side. I thought he was going to leave WOS but now I am excited to see what he can do with our boys. His style fits the kids here at WOS and they will love playing for him, I know my niece did. Now we have to find a good coach for our girls because we have a lot of talent coming back. As a WOS fan I am excited about something besides football and it's been a while since that. I think WOS got it right and hired a guy that fits our athletes. Coach Barstow is still a very good coach but Wilson has a style that fits our athletes and I know I am excited to see what he can do on the boys side. This guys will have the gym open all summer and kids coming out that should have been playing all along. Hopefully they get a good replacement for the girls and don't just put anyone over there because we have a lot of talent coming back. [Hidden Content]

Recently heard from a West Orange Stark Board Member that Wilson who was the girls Coach is getting the job. He did a great job with the girls, my niece played for him this past season and all the girls loved his style. He also got 3 of our girls college scholarships and a boy that graduated in 2019 one as well. I'm excited to see what he can do wit our boys because he worked those girls hard and they loved it. I personally thought he was leaving after 1 year because everyone keeps talking about how great a softball guy he is.

Coach Wilson is no surprise to me but is probably to a lot of people in that area. He is probably a better softball coach than basketball, but I know he gets the most out of his athletes. The real question is West Orange Stark going to be able to keep him? Great Job Coach Wilson!!!
