  1. You probably right but the 3rd seed would play Woodville or CH first round then Van Vleck (hope I spelled it right) second round. Van Vleck is a much more winnable game than Coldspring in my opinion
  2. Yea that’s tough. Might’ve been better off finishing district at 3rd. That other side of the bracket looks nice lol
  3. Not a traditional Kountze team but much better than last year. Can score pretty well but don’t seem to play much defense. Second tier team but could still be dangerous for a first tier team because of their coach and winning tradition
  4. Hardin never really scores much. Orangefield is more of a defensive team who can have a good shooting night time to time. Score isn’t surprising. Looks like Hardin made it ugly which was probably their goal. Still didn’t work though
  5. The winner of that game would finish district 8-6 and the loser would finish 7-7 right?
  6. Yea they got caught slipping by a decent team who wanted it a little more. I figured that would happen later down the stretch.
  7. Yea it’s possible. ECs a good team also but Dibolls been a bit more consistent
  8. So you picking EC over Diboll 3rd round?
  9. Yea basically. And I think Silsbee fans are too discouraged about loosing a couple games. At the end of the day they still have a chance at winning district and even if they don’t they are still in the playoffs which means there’s still plenty hope. It ain’t over till it’s over
  10. The way the brackets are set up I dont think Crockett and Coldspring would meet up until the finals.
  11. Yes private schools or schools who compete against other schools allowed to recruit should be allowed to recruit. And being that he got all those transfers and still isn’t even in position to make the playoffs at this point he hasn’t done a great job COACHING in my opinion. Good recruiter though
  12. And your right the UIL cleared the kids so I guess that’s that. I have no problem with the kids by the way. I am happy for them. I know it’s hard to get playing time on a team at one of those bigger schools. The coaches have a tough job choosing from all the talent they have available at those schools and sometimes they miss out on a “diamond in the rough”. I’m happy The the kids get to pursue their hoop dreams. I just think the coach is getting to much credit for being a great coach when he’s really a good recruiter. And I don’t think public schools are the place for recruiting athletes
  13. It’s not automatically ok if they have family ties. I don’t live in either of these communities and I don’t know the details of what goes on in these situations. I’m just looking in from the outside and revealing how it looks from my angle. It’s more believable that there was no foul play if there are family ties. When 4 kids transfer to the same school, neither of them are related to my knowledge, neither of them have previous ties to the community to my knowledge. The only thing they have in common is they’re all decent b-ball players and they all have a relationship with the new coach in this community that was never known for b-ball. Seems like they were recruited by the new coach for basketball. Not saying that can’t be the case for other situations in other communities but if that is the case in those situations it’s just less obvious
  14. I wasn’t aware that ever happened at Silsbee or HJ. I do have an idea about EC. They had 2 or 3 transfers last year and I believe they were all related and their family had ties to EC. That doesn’t stick out as recruitment to me. Just seems like EC benefited from legitimate transfers. Those things happen sometimes especially at schools that have a winning traditions
  15. Every school has transfers once in a while and of course a lot of schools benefit from transfers. But there’s a difference between benefitting from transfers and actively recruiting transfers. I could be wrong but I’m not aware of any other schools in the area who have had 4 transfers in the same year. If you know any then enlighten me.
  16. I have no problem with kids transferring. Even if it’s just for athletic reasons that’s their business in my opinion long as they are approved by the UIL. I have a problem with coaches RECRUITING. I find it hard to believe that 3 or 4 talented basketball kids decided to move to HF the same year on their own. If this type of thing gets out of hand it’s not only unfair to opponents to basically have to compete against “select teams”. It’s unfair to hometown kids who don’t get to rep their community because the coach has recruited a roster full of selects
  17. That’s more reasonable. Still questionable though
  18. Nobody has scored more than 71 this year vs HJ. Not saying Silsbee isn’t good enough offensively to score 84 but I doubt it.
  19. I don’t mind transfers. I just don’t like recruiting. Save that for the next level. If your coaching high school just coach what you have to the best of your abilities
  20. 3 starters is a lot. Sounds like a better job recruiting than coaching to me
  21. Exactly how many moved in and how many of those are starting?
