Closer and a weaker district it looks like.  Pasadena might have actually has the best record out of anyone last year in this new district?

Possibly but they’re losing a couple of their top players from last year. Their coach is great though and has really turned the program around there. She was my older daughter’s club coach years ago. Her daughter will be a junior next year and is a great setter/RS for them.

I think Splendora was a solid 4A program. Not sure how they’ll do moving up.
I think a lot of the 5A districts got weaker with teams moving up to 6A. Friendswood has no competition in district now that Manvel is gone. BH’s district got even easier for them, not that they had much competition before.

  2. We all think we know who the best players were. Wonder if they’re the same? Lol

GCM going up to 6A is interesting. All their programs are going to struggle. Their middle is great and I’m not hating on her getting offensive. Of course I wish our program was better so my kid could be considered but it is what it is. She did all she could with the team she was on.

  3. I agree with what you’re saying about choosing the 1st team and then picking the superlatives from that. The thing is they wouldn’t get the superlatives they did if they did that. Everyone who watched this district knows exactly who the best at each of those positions were this season. Probably going to ruffle some feathers but it’s the truth.
Give MVP and coach of the year to the top team. The rest should be based on actual individual performances not their team’s record. Then this all looks a lot different is all I’m saying.

  4. GCM’s middles are great! One more than the other but they’re single blocking the other team’s top outside every time. Teams with decent hitters will eat that up all night long. That was the biggest thing I noticed when playing them. And they try running the middle from outside too but it’s hard to win consistently when your middle is your best player with not enough around them. You just can’t get them the ball as much as you’d like.

I think a combined GCISD team would give BH a run for their money.

And that's a wrap for 1st in this district.  Looks like 2-4 is really anyone's guess between Sterling, GCM, Nederland, & PNG.  I wonder if Crosby can spoil it for anyone or sneak into 4th?

Could happen seeing as how all our games against those 4 were winnable. We were up late in most of them but unfortunately our coach doesn’t know how to make the proper adjustments needed so here we are in 6th. There, I said it as nice as I could. Lol  At this point the girls are done with this lady so I doubt we’ll be upsetting anyone.

Reading back over this thread as the new season starts.

It appears to me someone needs to hold the Goose Creek AD accountable for letting his coaches collude to get awards when the results weren't there. No way Sterling should have shared in any of the MVP or Coaching awards getting blown out by BH twice.

If the Sterling coach is the lead, is probably friends with the other Goose Creek coaches, not to mention I heard the new Crosby coach is a relative to the GCM Coach that is some major binds that can swing votes. And of course the one thing they have in common is they hate BH.  The Nederland coach going over to PNG may actually hurt their players and allow Nederland to get more players in the running. I am sure the PA coach just does whatever or doesn't even vote.

Yes, our new coach is GCM’s coach’s sister. Twins I believe.

Coach of the year and MVP should absolutely go to 1st place team. The rest should be based on individual numbers in my opinion.
