  1. Looks like BH just bulldozing and Nederland is starting to get into a groove, should be a good match this Friday. Little surprised that Sterling didn't handle GCM a little better. I see Sterling did win in 3, but the set scores are not what I would expect.
  2. This Tuesday match between Manvel & Friendswood should be one of the highlights of the week for the area.
  3. Baytown really missed the boat when it turned down the proposal to consolidate the high schools. It would have been beneficial all across the board: academics, athletics, fine arts, etc….
  4. I bet they are working on the UIL one act play. Gotta try to beat BH at something.
  5. The growth projections for BH are astronomical. They will definitely be 6A sooner rather than later and I think there will be a learning curve for the boys sports (girls should be okay), but the correction shouldn't take too much time to occur.
  6. Those are nice results and all, but lets not forget that this is Texas and football is king. BH does have the edge in mostly everything else, but people will keep chirping until they start beating Crosby in football. However, with all the SH99 related development that is happening in the Mont Belvieu area, the clock on Crosby's football dominance could be ticking.
  7. Just being facetious, the district is far from settled. The Eagles are really good, but they are not invincible; no one is. They need to have the intensity in district play that they showed during non-district/tournament play. With each match the pressure builds for BH and the target on them gets bigger. Continuous focus on BH can be freeing for the other programs.
  8. So with Crosby beating Sterling, has the district already been decided in the first week of district play?
  9. What will be hurting BH the rest of the season, poll wise, is the strength of their district as a whole. No matter what BH does now, they can only go down in that poll. If they don't post dominant wins with each match then it will be viewed as a negative. Manvel and Friendswood have each other in their district, so I see at least one of them appearing in that poll just because they are playing better teams. Same can be said for the Foster/Fulshear district.
  10. It definitely appears that way. They do have size, but it looks like speed and technique were the trade-offs for that size.
  11. It seems like Crosby is struggling big time right now. I think the most exciting matchup in this district will be Sterling v Nederland. Basically, it appears to be a battle for 2nd place between these two teams (unless Crosby turns it around), because I would be surprised if BH loses even a set in district play.
  12. After a quick lookup of the tournament and some spot checks of the teams attending from MaxPreps, I guess it is more about the overall experience than the competition? I wouldn't put near the level of Fraulein Volleyfest, Volleypalooza or John Turner; I could be wrong though.
  13. Houston Chronicle has BH ranked #5 in the area. I know it’s early, but they have looked really good so far.
  14. The offense needs to put something together to give the D a rest. LH’s pace is causing a problem for the DL. Getting beat to the point of attack by smaller, quicker linemen.
  15. I agree, Celina looked really good in that game. Nothing to be ashamed of though. Similar situation in 5a, Lovejoy was just on another level than every other team.
  16. I agree, not sure if Oldman is current coach, former coach or overly sensitive parent, but message boards might not be the place for him. Anyways, my assessment of the defense wasn't a slight on the kids, they are confined to the system that is designed by coaches. Discipline on the backside is something that needs to be ironed in with repetition during practice. Switching to a new defensive philosophy that might not be in tune with the strengths of the current roster really puts those kids up against a wall. On the QB punting, like I said, I commend him for wearing both hats. In games like this the ability to change field position would have been so critical for BH. For the most part his punts were okay, but that last one was unfortunate. All in all, that QB played a very good game, he made critical plays with his legs and had a few good throws. Also, just so oldman doesn't think I am 100% negative, I thought BH's interior Oline play was pretty good most of the night. The tigers had some big dudes playing on their Dline and for the most part BH held their own.
  17. Hahaha, what a sensitive reply. Better go get some kleenex for those blue tears of yours. I guess you're cool with 20 yard punts and 30 yard kick offs then? Come back with a better response next time or go ahead and sit this one out. One thing for you to think about in the long offseason, what is BH going to do to get better disciplined against the read option so they don't get burned by lack of backside contain like they did most of last night?
  18. One thing that isn’t getting mentioned enough is the breakdown of BH’s 3rd phase. For a school of that size, and talent base, they have to be able to produce better special teams play. Specifically punting and kickoffs. Hats off to the QB for pulling double duty as the punter, but that team would have benefited greatly from better punts all night; especially that last one. The short kickoffs appeared to be done out of necessity, but again, starting at the 35 vs the 20 makes a big difference. The battle of field position matters in games like this and BH’s special teams execution hurt them at the worst times.
  19. Yep, it looks like Greater Houston got shut out across the board. The Manvel match was the least competitive of all the semifinals though, Lovejoy was a steamroller.
  20. You have access to anything that they broadcast.
  21. Didn't get to see the BC match, but watched the BH match on NFHS. Tough loss to a good Manvel squad, but BH had their chances. In that 4th set it looks like the bottom dropped on their passing and they weren't able to right the ship until it was too late. For the most part, the other phases of their game looked good enough to win, but passing seemed to be the biggest weakness in all the sets last night.
  22. Figured Delmar would be the location, due to where each school is located, but I agree that the date is not good for BH. Foster's football team is playing Thursday night, so they could out number the BH side significantly.
  23. BH has a shot to get into the 3rd round this year, but we'll have to see. Have to perform better than last years disappointment.
  24. Not the best outcome for Nederland. It looks like BH will have to save the clean sweep for their district.
