It is beyond me why Forney isn't utilizing their big WR more.

I am curious how district picks for volleyball are distributed. In my past experience, albeit in another district and with football / baseball, district picks were skewed toward the winner; especially if the winner has such a wide margin. It looks picks were fairly even between the top four teams. No offense, but that just doesn't make sense to me.

2022: 17-5a Volleyball Standings / Scores / Playoff Scores

Agree. BH will be just fine for the playoffs, at least the first two rounds. Last night proved that they are thin at a very critical position, but at full strength they will be okay. Congrats to Nederland on the win. They should celebrate and enjoy it while they can, because their reward is a Friendswood team that is as equally talented as a full strength BH squad. -
Sterling is HISD level bad right now. You guys could have easily dropped 100 on them if fully healthy. Hell you came pretty close to it with injuries.

After seeing these posts I pulled up Nederland's youtube video of the game....and all I have to say is WOW. Major props to the Nederland girls for getting the win, their coach had them prepared and ready to play. They executed their strategies and game plan better than BH did, kept it simple and direct. Even though BH still arguably had more player talent on the court, Nederland for sure won the coaching battle. On the other hand, it definitely looked like the BH team was completely unprepared to play with their new lineups. Looked like they were missing their main setter and couple of net players, but that isn't a real excuse. A team of this level should be able to go more than one deep at any position, that deficiency falls on coaching and development. Not sure what BH's game plan was, if they even had one, but it didn't work. On multiple instances, in all sets, the BH offense just looked lost...WAY too many junior high level mistakes. -

Looks like Santa Fe beat TC. Barring multiple players not playing for FW on Tuesday, they should beat La Porte. What are the tie breakers for district play? TC and La Porte should have the same district record and split the head-to-head matchup. Only difference is that La Porte won more sets in head-to-head. Would they still have a play-in? -
Crosby (69) @ Baytown Sterling (21) - FINAL

San Marcos High School was declared eligible for the playoffs, but it is a different story for the students. Their ineligibility was extended to a total of three years. Hopefully this doesn’t happen here. I don’t believe in being overly punitive to students, a calendar year should be fitting. However, it looks like the Executive Committee has a different approach. -

Honest question - How is this situation different than what happened at San Marcos High School? -

Looks like Sterling is locked into 2nd place now. I think it is very unlikely that Lee, PNG, or GCM beat them and I doubt Sterling will beat BH. -

With the eye test, yes, they should be the best. For whatever reason though, Sterling hasn't performed very well this year. Not sure if it is just disappointing play or coaching, but something is off there. If Crosby is able to pull of the win against Sterling then 2nd through 4th will be a toss up. -

Backbreaking loss for Nederland. They will need some help now to have a chance to come in second in this district. -

Manvel or Friendswood would be a tall order for the 3rd and 4th place teams. The 2nd place team in this district should be the favorite over Santa Fe, La Porte, or GBall. -

Looks like BH just bulldozing and Nederland is starting to get into a groove, should be a good match this Friday. Little surprised that Sterling didn't handle GCM a little better. I see Sterling did win in 3, but the set scores are not what I would expect. -

This Tuesday match between Manvel & Friendswood should be one of the highlights of the week for the area. -

Baytown Sterling (0) @ Humble Kingwood Park (44) - FINAL

Baytown really missed the boat when it turned down the proposal to consolidate the high schools. It would have been beneficial all across the board: academics, athletics, fine arts, etc…. -
I bet they are working on the UIL one act play. Gotta try to beat BH at something.
-
The growth projections for BH are astronomical. They will definitely be 6A sooner rather than later and I think there will be a learning curve for the boys sports (girls should be okay), but the correction shouldn't take too much time to occur.
-
Those are nice results and all, but lets not forget that this is Texas and football is king. BH does have the edge in mostly everything else, but people will keep chirping until they start beating Crosby in football. However, with all the SH99 related development that is happening in the Mont Belvieu area, the clock on Crosby's football dominance could be ticking.

Just being facetious, the district is far from settled. The Eagles are really good, but they are not invincible; no one is. They need to have the intensity in district play that they showed during non-district/tournament play. With each match the pressure builds for BH and the target on them gets bigger. Continuous focus on BH can be freeing for the other programs. -

So with Crosby beating Sterling, has the district already been decided in the first week of district play? -

What will be hurting BH the rest of the season, poll wise, is the strength of their district as a whole. No matter what BH does now, they can only go down in that poll. If they don't post dominant wins with each match then it will be viewed as a negative. Manvel and Friendswood have each other in their district, so I see at least one of them appearing in that poll just because they are playing better teams. Same can be said for the Foster/Fulshear district. -
It definitely appears that way. They do have size, but it looks like speed and technique were the trade-offs for that size.

It seems like Crosby is struggling big time right now. I think the most exciting matchup in this district will be Sterling v Nederland. Basically, it appears to be a battle for 2nd place between these two teams (unless Crosby turns it around), because I would be surprised if BH loses even a set in district play.
