  1. While Sterling, Lee's and GCM's district is undoubtedly more difficult, but BH would have finished 2nd at least. Manvel is the only team that has advantages, or is even, at multiple positions with BH.
  2. Agree. I imagine that Ned matches up better with Sante Fe than FWood.
  3. That is very surprising. According to what is reported on MaxPreps, it was 26-24, 25-18 & 25-21. It looks like they will be tied for 2nd in their district. What are the tie-breaking procedures?
  4. Having seen videos and recaps of Fulshear, BH better hope that they are aligned with Foster. Fulshear would be an extremely unfavorable match up for the Eagles.
  5. Their preseason schedule was very weak. Manvel was a tournament opponent, who appeared to handle them. Summer Creek is currently 3rd in their district and if the season ended today both CL and Taylor would not be in the playoffs. The 29-3 record looks good at face value, but when you see that a lot of those wins are against low-level teams, it takes a lot of the luster off.
  6. It would be nice if BH was in a district that had more competition than only Nederland, who isn't bad, and played a more difficult preseason schedule. Their bi-district is more competitive and probably helps prepare those teams much better for the playoffs.
  7. I would take those polls with a slight grain of salt. Take another look and you'll see that Manvel isn't on that list, which I would say is a big oversight.
  8. 4th place will come down to PNG or GP. Either way though, their reward will be Manvel or Friendswood...so...
  9. Luckily for the Eagles height will not be a concern in district and even bi-district, except for Manvel.
  10. Baytown Sterling is a puzzling program. Quite a bit of talent, but something just seems off or missing.
  11. In a forum that is dedicated to football...just trying to relate the situation to football. Anyways, the question is what are the realistic chances of increasing the programs success with out an influx of additional talent? Not saying the current group isn't talented, but there is a deficiency in top-level talent if your goal is to consistently go beyond the area round. Maybe the new coach with the correct offensive and defensive game plans/schemes can correctly utilize the current talent to maximize success, but game plan/schemes can only take you so far. In the end, I'm not on the field, or in the locker room, maybe I'll be surprised.
  12. The word is that Chambers County zoned those parcels for multi building residential, so they wanted apartments in that location. If you want to attract people to your area then you better have affordable housing for the people that can't afford a 300k tract home. Not all apartments are section 8 or low income, so that is a little bit of a mischaracterization. If you're not willing to make housing affordable, then you can only coach up the current talent base so much. Also, to think that BHISD bought those parcels to lessen traffic congestion is a little ridiculous.
  13. I think the root of the issue with football at BH goes beyond the hiring of the next coach. To be where BH WANTS to be in football, it might be more about the Jimmy's & Joe's than X's & O's (tired saying I know). They just need a different caliber of athlete in the program to be better than an okay to good team. The overall top end talent base of the school seems to lend itself to baseball and girls sports. Just an observation.
  14. The bit about the buying land to avoid having apartments is something that has been going around from multiple people. Too many disparate sources that said the exact same thing, tend to believe that statement.
  15. Your second paragraph is the speculation that you are referring to at the end of your statement. You can think that it was the actions a parent/player to get a coach to change his system that was the catalyst of the change, but X's and O's were not the culprit.
  16. Exactly. Maybe don't run off your best player before the season starts and you might have a better chance.
  17. Yep. Underwhelming performance by BH. Watched on the stream and it appeared that TC came to play right off the bat and BH looked completely flat. BH shot themselves in the foot with repeated unenforced errors in each set and TC made them pay.
  18. Understand they have 5 freshman, however, I have seen them play earlier in the season and they were way more competitive. It's not often you see 25-3 & 25-2 scores in any level of competition. Anyways, it doesn't matter, they still get their playoff shot against Friendswood.
  19. Wow...Expected GCM to win, but would have thought it would be a little bit more competitive.
  20. Assuming identical records after Friday, what are the tie breaker criteria between TC and GCM?
  21. Understood about the district they entered this year. I didn't expect them to compete for 1st or 2nd has FW and Manvel were favorites for those positions. Even 3rd would have been a stretch to beat out a team like Texas City, but I did fully expect them to compete closely for 4th; especially seeing how Santa Fe and La Porte looked compared to last season. I just thought Sterling returned with too much talent to not make a serious push for a bottom half playoff spot. The two losses to GCM and subsequent loss to LP were just very surprising to me. That being said, I think a team like GCM played above their overall talent level (obviously the core three are very good) to win almost all the games they should have (the loss to Lee was nearly derailing) and IMO stealing two from Sterling. In the end, GCM did what was needed to advance and Sterling did not.
  22. Sterling and GCM's performance this season were surprising, for opposite reasons. I think Sterling's season could only be described as disappointing. Any opinions on what went wrong for the Rangers?
  23. Definitely a serious blow to the eagles that will have impacts for a few years, especially right before the season starts. I wish her good luck at her new school.
  24. Wow. Understand that BH’s star transferred out to a private school just the other week.
  25. Happy for GCM. They are have hardworking core in Herrera, Martinez and Kotlarz. However, there is no reason RSS should have dropped two games to them this season. Kotlarz might be the best player in this area, including BH, but RSS had overall more talent to work with than GCM. I think it just goes to show that, especially in HS sports, coaching and schemes can overcome a deficits in talent and depth.
