  1. If you believe that then you're an HJ fan not a basketball one. District will be out of Huffman or HF. HJ will be a respectable 3rd. HJ played together this summer under two different AAU teams and the only notable were Sears, two other players that don't go to HJ. They will be competitive, but they don't have enough firepower to beat HF or Huffman in district. Soileau from Huffman will be the best forward in the district, I don't see any big containing him and they still have a couple of shooters, one who can get to the rim as well. Soileau will put up 20 and 10 this season. Best back court will be from HF in Dorsey and Coleman. Will be 3rd year starting with both being x2 all district, 1 all region (Dorsey). Denson comes back healthy 16pts 10rebs 1st team all district. Ardoin is no longer ineligible and will add a player that can both play and guard all 5 positions at 6'4" averaged 27 and 10 his sophomore year, last time he played varsity. That's 4 players that will average double digits, 3 of them at least 15pts a game. No one else has that type of firepower in that district.
  2. He's their only real threat who can score at all 3 levels and defend. The other guards are basically just 3pt shooters who can't dribble. They have no PG like the last two years. Some don't realize how important that is. Without him last year they don't win 20 games at all.
  3. Not the least bit. They're not going to be terrible, still will be a competitive team but the only solid player they have is Sears that can effect the game on both ends. Brown is a good shooter and decent gaurd but folds under pressure and can't guard anyone pass his own size. Davis Jr can't guard his mom's purse in church 🤣. They don't have any bigs, just a couple of 6'2-6'3 guards who can't dribble so they play post for rebounding and defense. Both decent are players, but are really football players who should be using basketball just for feet work. Saw their gaurds this summer, take the ball away from Sears and it's turnover city. Malbrough will be the X factor if he can learn how to play basketball and not just rec hoop.
  4. Keyonte heading to IMG to join Bradley in the backcourt. Some of these guys are now playing for other reasons, not just college anymore.
  5. There's two real obvious coaches in Beaumont who have state titles and multiple D1/pros players under their belt. The others to me are Siglar at Silsbee, Mitchell from Lumberton, English at Nederland, and Orangefield head coach. One can say there are at least 3-4 assistant coaches that would be better then most on that list other then the 3 HOFers, but they are all on those HOFs staff lol. I saw the argument about Clay Davis. Honestly he's an ok coach. He consistently has talent every year but really doesn't win big games or make deep playoff runs and what players has he really gotten into D1 or D2 college? This year will say a lot because this will be his most least talented team. They will fully depend on his coaching to win.
  6. *Based on past awards, stats, or area/state rankings BU: Arceneaux, Yates, Treyln, Dotson, #22, Mickles WB: Dews HJ: Sears, Brown( will be solid for them this year) Silsbee: Miller, Harris LCM: Ben Elliott (most underrated SF in the area) HF: Dorsey, Coleman, Denton, Ardoin Huffman: Soileau WOS and BC have returning all district players but I don't know their names.
  7. That team is going to be really good this year
  8. HF entire core returns plus one of the top guards in the state
  9. Huffman was Jacob Harvey lol. He was Timberlake and the rest was N'sync 🤣. Nah but they have solid post player and shooting guard returning. Will be a playoff team but will not have enough firepower on offense to beat HJ or HF. I said HF will win district next year not the next 3 years. Yes HJ has a little more talent up the pipeline then any other in that district right now. HF main post player was hurt and not playing for the first half of district and was getting his legs back under him second half which is why the scores to the games between Huffman and HJ changed dramatically. HF lost both second games in the final few minutes. They were winning in both games. HF gets a guard back healthy who was rehabbing his knee from a torn ACL and didn't play much all year and a player who sat on JV because other coaches in the district were apparently scared of him 🤷🏾‍♂️. I've seen him play this spring, they should have just played against him last year because he's 6'4" looks to be at least 190 if not 200 all muscle, extremely fast, athletic, and can shoot. I don't think he'll have any love or positive feelings towards any team in the district after last years fiasco 🤣
  10. HF will have 4 returning starters and 4 returning bench players plus a top area guard who played JV last year. They also had a lot of young talent that were freshman and sophomore. They will be a playoff team for at least the next 3 years. They winning district next year barring injury.
  11. Hopefully the current assistant coach will take spot
  12. HF got into foul trouble early losing there leading scorer and rebounder the entire first half. Kid played 9 minutes the whole game and scored 10 pts 5 rebs. They got nothing from their 2 guard at all. The game was close in first half, but when they doubled and triple teamed Dorsey no one else stepped up. Silsbee out rebounded and out hustled them.
  13. HF by 4. Will be a low scoring game. Rideaux will control the tempo in the half court and not allow Silsbee to run which is the main way they score. Who ever controls the tempo wins and I don't think Silsbee is discipline enough due to youth to counter HF scemes. Silsbee hoops, HF plays basketball. Will be a chess match
  14. He didn't tear his MCL, that would be season ending, and yes he was a starter averaging 10pts a game before his injury. It was a just MCL strain. I believe Denson comes back this week, whos their leading scorer. Both players together accounted for 27pts 15rebs 7ast and were the teams leading 3pt shooters. They were missed drastically!
  15. HF just not the same team from the beginning of the season. Hopefully they can get back healthy and compete the second half of district
  16. Hard to say, they are down 3 starters now which explains the lost to Splendora and Sheppard. Their big man went down in the 3rd quarter of the Shepard game with an ankle injury and missed the Splendora game. It's been a rough few weeks for the Horns to say the least. Their bench isn't as good as many thought apparently. They were a solid 6 or 7 man rotation. Losing 3 starters hurt bigtime
  17. Playing hard without winning is still a lost. I agree coach Mitchell does the best he can with what he has, but there's no trophies for playing hard just wins. He needs a pg and a shooting guard to go along with Brock and they would be undefeated in district right now.
  18. Shepard 4-1 in district. They not a trash team lol. You go into their gym down two starters and lose another during the game, yeah they can beat you. Take away HJ's pg, big man, and Sears they lose as well. Thats what HF is dealing with right now.
  19. BU loses Arceneaux and Yates, they still undefeated? Lumberton loses Brock, do they even win a game? Huffman without Harvey is under .500. Key players matter period. You lose your leading scorer and anchor of your defense along with a 40% 3 point shooter, wins become hard. They lost almost half their offense and 10 plus rebounds a game.
  20. No they still out. one with a knee the other with an ankle
  21. HF down their leading scoring and a shooter, both starters. Their center got hurt last night in the second half as well, ankle. Injuries are hurting them. I guess those schools who voted against their best player being on varsity this year plan is working. Huffman and Shepard loose with him on the floor period
