  1. Player had a literal mental break down, throwing fits on the bench and the locker room and was allowed to be on the floor during critical moments!
  2. If you were at this game, it was clear as day why we lost. It was a great game for about 2qts and then one player on our team decided that he needed to no longer play team ball and turn the ball over 4 straight trips. Then our coach decided it was a good idea to sit our all region PG and our best shooter for most of the 3rd qrt. Our two best scorers and barely touched the ball after dominating the first half because their ALL REGION PG WAS ON THE BENCH! Who by the way was cooking as well in the first half! They lost because of a selfish player (who by the way had a tech and a flagrant foul that resulted into 4pts in the first half, then tried to fight Sears after coming out the locker room when RJ came to shake his hand) and horrible subbing. Hats off to HJ and Coach Davis for a perfect game plan in the 2nd half forcing the ball into that player's hand and watching it perfectly unfold. His guys came out and smelled blood in the waters. Sears was amazing, Isaiah Malbrough was the game MVP for me. HJ played team ball in the second half, HF didn't. This lost was solely on our coach unable to control one of his players and not benching him, along with bad subbing
  3. A coach who wants to keep the trust of his locker room will. I don't know any greats that I've studied or gotten advice from who never have. As coaches, we are human not God and will make mistakes or decisions that cost games. It happens, we're not perfect 🤷🏾‍♂️
  4. HJ will beat Livingston with absolutely no problems. They almost lost to HFs second string players at home and was dominated by HF just last week. Like I said I have no idea why he sat all his starters that long, but it cost them the game. HF had multiple chances to win that game last night, their guys just couldn't knock down tough shots down the stretch late to seal the game and allowed Livingston to stay around and get the lead late in the 4th. But defensively they caused a lot of Livingston turnovers with the press and full court man, just couldn't capitalize on them at a high % like the starters do. They literally had 3 chances within 20 seconds to hit a 3 to tie it 🤷🏾‍♂️. They played hard and gave Livingston all they could handle. HJ crushing Livingston with their press period.
  5. HF is the only team anywhere near the same level as HJ in this district. HJ has no threat outside of HF in the coming weeks and even if they fall to HF in the second meeting, they will not lose to anyone else and still be champs. Fixing whatever that was last night and getting prepared for the playoffs should be their focus right now. The district championship is pretty much HJs now.
  6. As a coach I can say why he clearly pulled them at the beginning. They came out a little flat on both ends, but as far as the whole game and all 5? I have no idea at all. Keep in mind they were on a 6 game win streak with those 5 starters. None of them know what happened or why after the initial pull.
  7. I said they came out slow lol. I'm a high school coach and yes I have pulled players to wake them up as well, but not every starter for the whole game. You'll eventually get out matched in certain situations and positions down the stretch. That's what happened. It was a gamble to try and prove a point I think and it didn't plan out. At the end of the day they are your best 5 for a reason. Sitting all 5 was a bold move for whatever reason he had and it backfired with a lost. They got pulled mid 1st and didn't get back in until after the half. He then pulled 3 starters about a qrt into the 3rd and the other two a little bit after. It was all back ups from then on out. Like I said the second unit gave a solid effort and battled, could have won, but they were going up against Livingston's best and came up short.
  8. They beat Anahuac by 6 the first game, blew them out the second game the next day. Anahuac is a sold team, very athletic, and well coached. Don't sleep on them. They only had 2 losses before playing HF back to back in that Tournament
  9. They were up by 30 before he pulled his starters to start the 4th. I should have clarified. The game wasn't close at all, HF controlled it from start to finish. Livingston's shooter hit four 3s in the 4th of that game to make it respectable. Kid got a strap for sure! Not sure why he pulled them in this game for the whole game, but he did 🤷🏾‍♂️.
  10. Nah they won by almost 20pts last weekend vs Livingston. Coach made a decision to sit all his starters for the majority of the game, not sure why, but Livingston basically beat HFs second unit. I was at the game and really can't tell you what was going on honestly or why the decision was made. They came out a little slow, but nothing really unusual for a high school basketball team, happens from time to time even with nationally ranked ones. Coach pulled his starters and only really played his second and third units. They played hard and went back and forth with Livingston taking the lead multiple times, but they couldn't hold on to win. No one starter played more then an entire quarter and all of them sat the entire 4th qtr until one got sub with 2mins left. Was definitely strange and none of the starters know why 🤷🏾‍♂️. Livingston players and coach did what they was supposed to do and took advantage of the opportunity. Hopefully whatever caused the decision gets worked out. They were definitely on a role winning 6 straight.
  11. Big game for the Bears! They have one of the best players in the area in Ben Elliot. The kid can go!
  12. Defensive down the stretch and overall rebounding determined the game. Plus some big shots by HJ (Davis) sealed it. Was a good game, the better team won that night.
  13. As a varsity coach myself, I can tell you 100% during close or tough games we do get tunnel vision and sometimes will get caught up only focus on one thing during games. That's why we have assistant coaches. I've made many mistakes in subbing, calling timeouts, play calls, etc....over my career that has cost games. It happens and any good coach will admit to it and apologize to his players and staff for it. Coach Kenebrew is that type of coach and the players and parents respect that about him. No the season isn't going as many imagine, but I knew there was a possibility it wasn't and have said that much to other parents when they criticized Coach Kenebrew. He's a good coach that had certain expectations or ideas of the type of players he had top to bottom and finding out otherwise. I believe he'll make adjustments and get them on track.
  14. No one on the feed I feel had an attitude other then a couple like yourself who misunderstood comments. Maybe you need to go back and read. Some gave their negative opinions about my kid that I felt were false and I gave them facts and statistics, but honestly I can see the games over and over plus all the stats and the shot charts. They can only see what's in their head and the stats from maxprep (which many obviously didnt). And our parents and fans are great people who bend over backwards for all the kids and support them regardless. Let's normalize being wrong sometimes about what we think we saw and simply apologize for it. You know, like grown adults do?
  15. Lol he didn't start the OT at all, came in midway, and scored the only points for the team in OT. So the shots you are referring to wasn't by him. What the coach said to the team and him was weird but it's what he said. I actually wasn't there at all, watched part of the game on a live feed and the rest later that day on film. So yeah I know exactly when, where, and why things happen. Our pg is a 100% all heart player who really only turns the ball over when the other primary ball handler isn't in the game which is my son. The opposing team traps him when that happens. Also that was just his 3rd or 4th game of the year as he plays football. He just made mistakes.
  16. Very true which is why he's getting phone calls from colleges. You have to be good in multiple areas on both ends.
  17. I can respect that, but still the same. Don't make assumptions and go off on rants when you didn't fully understand the comment or purpose. Just ask for clarity
  18. Again I wasn't CRITICIZING AT ALL. I was correcting the opinions of others with statistics and facts they didn't know. So I take it that's your version of an apology for misunderstanding what I said and going on an unnecessary rant about coaches and parents 🤦🏾‍♂️. As far as HF being visited by a college coach, they already have and will have others.
  19. If HJ gets into a run and gun versus Silsbee they will get ran out the gym. If they can slow the game down and force half court possessions, they will be in the game. Silsbee wants a track meet and has more sprinters then HJ.
  20. How about folks start practicing speaking facts about the games and players based purely on the analytics and not their own biases or opinions. Would cut out a lot of confusion and kill assumptions. If you don't know the specific numbers of the game, then don't speak specifically about any player other then to compliment. Criticism based on personal opinion and not the numbers is very dangerous and can escalate quickly as we can see in this thread.
  21. He apologized to his players. What are you talking about? 🤣 He admitted it was on him as any good coach would do. I've done it plenty of times as how can we teach accountability to these kids and not hold ourselves accountable for our mistakes. I didn't criticize anyone, others did, I simply stated statistics that explained losts while giving kudos to HJ kids for controlling the little things and following the game plan by their coach which anyone who really understands the game and how to analyze it unbias does. Our kids didn't at all as a team, follow what their coach laid out. The two kids you're mentioning are good friends and have been playing with each other since 8 years old during the summer and have already discussed the analytics with each other as they do after every game in order the get better. His dad and I have been friends for over 20 years. You can't have a bias mind when reading comments my man. You'll make assumptions that aren't accurate at all. I find it funny you came for me for correcting others assumptions about my kid using actual stats and facts but not them for their assumptions based on their personal opinions 🤔. As if telling spreading rumors about a kids character and play on the court without looking at the analytics which are easy to find on maxpreps is ok. Who are you anyway?
  22. You can't step up if you dont have the ball down the stretch and he scored the majority of their points in the second half. Nothing you can do when your teammates are jacking up shots outside of the offensive rotation and not moving the ball to the mismatches. Anyway he went 7/15 scoring 21pts 8rebs 2blks 1stl. The next two leading scorers went 4/12 and the other 4/11 with a combined 10 TOs and 9 total rebs. #5 Denson was the mismatch for us and only got 5 shots going 4/5. He was supposed to get the ball more down low and certainly down the stretch, but didn't. He needed at least 10 touches in this game in the post, but guys failed to follow the plan. Sears scored 24pts, Davis 21pts, and Malbrough 14pts and a big 10 rebs for HJ. #10 for HJ grab 10 rebs as well. I don't speak as a "dad" but as a 100% varsity coach who has been to 4 straight state tournaments and 2 state championships in his division. You are correct about one thing. HJ had the better overall team Friday night as the analytics shows it. They out rebounded HF by double digits and any coach worth his salt will tell you, control the boards and you win the game 9 out of 10 times guaranteed
