  1. I have really been impressed with the growth of the Dogs offensive line. The killer B's of Brown,Brinkley and Byrd along with Allbrition,Latiolas;Washington and Delfierio have improved every week.Kendrick Hopkins running behind them has been a bull.More backs in the area have more yardage but I bet none of them have more yards after contact than Hopkins.
  2. With the rule change of bringing the out of end zone kick to the 25,I like the pooch kick option.A good pooch kick will give the other team no better field position than the 35 with the possibility of a fumble on the fair catch attempt. It also forces them to hit the home run against your defense and not your special team.Tanner pooch kicks very well but sometimes he does not hit it well and the out come is ugly.Same can be said about his deep kick.It comes down to execution. It is nice that he has a awesome leg to keep teams honest.
  3. VPATH,I like your earlier reply. The other backers name is Wood.He was the DC pre-season defensive pick last year.Couron is the DC pre-season defensive pick for this year and Malvo's a beast also.Easy to get lost in the crowed when you have so many play makers on one unit.I will also point out that I think the Dogs corner play is the best it has had since the Yoder era.Taylor,Shaw and Barrow posses speed and football instincts we have not seen at the corner position for a while.Tough stand out in a box full of diamonds. But it sure is fun to watch them shine all together!
  4. Montana is a great leader and I enjoy watching him play.Nederland and Vidor are both very good teams this year. The big difference in the two is depth. If we lose our best player for a game,we plug someone else in and we have enough high level talent around that position to remain a very good team.If Vidor loses Montana ,I do not think they are near the same team with out him.
  5. I made a statement earlier that Shaw was faster and quicker than the twins from Crosby. Some one replied Shaw better play defense.Shaw picked off the pass from GCM on their first offensive play for a" pick six".Nice to have a weapon like Shaw that can change games so quickly by picking off passes and getting behind defenses or just faking defensive players out off their shoes. He finished the game with two nice touchdown receptions and one defensive touchdown. The reason most people did not know how fast he was last season is he played with a strained muscle in his leg last season most of the year.Hope he stays healthy this season and keeps having games like he did Friday night.Keep going strong Michael and"Go Dogs"
  6. Very pleased with the Dog's win.Defense contained some real quickness and the offense opened up the game on fire.If we can hold on to a few more catchable balls no telling what the score would have been. Very pleased over all cause not all were easy catches. just looked up the hit of the week on ch.12 and I do not think they watched footage of the Nederland game. The block #25 Wood gave on the punt return was, well I am at a loss for words, but "Snot Bubbles"comes to mind.

  7. Husker's weights of the D-Line are legit. The weights of the line-backers are also legit. As for as 40 times you go to enough camps you will find someone with a fast thumb.Bottom line Nederland has something special this year on defense.I understand you doubting us.I promise you these guys are big and move well.Just pray we stay healthy.
  8. Unless Brock Pryor tried the Jenny Craig diet this summer he is nowhere near 250.He is more like 270 plus.Couron is the only undersized defensive lineman and is picked to be the pre-season defensive MVP for 20-4a.  He is also the fastest D-Lineman.These monsters are backed up by two line-backers that weigh over 205 a piece.Jordan Wood was the only unanimous defensive first-team selection as a sophmore and was the 20-4a pre-season defensive MVP selection last year.Korbin Stampley was a first -team all district selection last year and a real "Man-Eater".Both of them run about 4.8 or faster.Kids get bigger during the summer and I have seen both of these linebackers weigh this summer. All I can say is come see for yourself .I bet Nederland has the biggest front six in 4-A for the state of Texas.
  9. I.M.O. P.A.M. peaked with talent last year and would have beat NED.This year NED. is at a peak talent wise and will give any team all they can handle. You can not say one of these teams would win every year. Do
not know what the schedule issues are but I am sure the players are not intimidated by each other. Two very good teams!
