  1. To the Fab. Five seniors that contributed big in Nederland winning three strait district championships. It was a pleasure to watch the way you guys played baseball! To the remaining seniors that took on the season as role players.I admire you!You guys bought in to the team concept when many others would have quit. That kind of team play will help make you a valuable employee!Good luck in life and come out and support the Bulldogs whenever you can.Go Dogs!
  2. Lets use "player protection" to make the bat companies a bundle of money.Everyone will have to buy one of the BBCOR bats to participate from little league on up.I could buy that this rule was not profit driven if the wooden bats were demanded instead of BBCOR.The players would like playing like the pros and the scouts would get a true picture of hitting ability.
  3. Are they giving out J.V. E.R.A. awards this year? The P.N.G. team, pitcher and coach did a good job against Ned.J.V.It was just Ned's night. It was P.N.G.'s night in the first outing.I wish these two teams could play more than twice this season. They are fun to watch!
  4. Sanderson pitched great and Shaw led a impressive hitting performance by the Dogs.Michael's three bullets were beautiful and came at clutch times.I was at my younger sons district track meet and missed Jordan's catch in the first inning.Great job by Stampley behind the plate mentally and physically.Sure is nice to hear so many praise Jordan's catch.Hearing about it is the next best thing to being there!Sure is fun watching the J.V. Dogs mature together.
  5. Bulldogbacker, When 1696dogs post about games she states the "facts "of every player during the game.I appreciate what she does for us.When people post things about individual players it is usually positive. When you make a "vague "statement about two players ,that implies that they did not contribute well to the team,I do not appreciate it! I do not think it is fair to single them out.I hope you will be more considerate with your posts in the future. ll  l
  6. Bulldogbacker,in the freshman and soph. thread.I am sure you would not make that kind of statement about BaseBows kid.My point is if you are going to talk about a kid when he has a sub-par game. The least you can do is report about his good games also.  "did not contribute impressively"
  7. I agree with you spoonbill.Lots of variables to determine when to slide step with a runner at first.Speed of the runner and type of hitter at the plate.Inside move keeps runners honest at second. My point is he never showed a slide step at all.IMO if you pitch with out using a slide step, you better average about two strike-outs per inning. It normally takes two singles to score from first. It only takes one to score from second.I guess it boils down to philosophy. Will you try to prevent the long ball or will you let teams small ball you to death.I like limiting the running game buy giving up a little velocity and changing speeds than having a team run me to death.
  8. I.M.O. Abundance of above average talent makes you an above average team.Great teams almost always have at least two great pitchers.Nederland does not have the shut down pitchers it has had for the last two years. There will be a lot more balls put in play that might  expose a inexperienced outfield IMO.Also Nederlands first pitcher was 1.6 to 1.7 to the plate with runners at first.Teams like P.N.G. with good team speed will have a field day on the bases if he does not get quicker to the plate. The Dogs coaching staff ,which is a good one, will have its hands full finding the best outfield combination to prove me wrong in my above statement.I hope they do! Go Dogs!
  9. My opininion is about this kids power.I assure you there are few players that put in the work that he and his dad put in.I am just luckey that he takes my kid along sometimes.Although his dad can be a handfull,he is very savant like about mechanics of the game.Colton may not cut it at the varsity level now. But The Power is there now!
  10. Admin.,My son was your knuckle headed knuckleballer this past all-star season.Keep in mind Kirby Bellow hit under 200 avg. his fresh. season.I also know your son was a hoss with tremendous power.I know seeing is believing.Weisbrod will connect at some point this season and silence all the doubters and haters.Try to catch one of his B.P. sessions and you will see what I mean.I know because I was once a doubter!
