  1. Jasper wins 25-15.I don't even want to know how many errors were in the game. I just hope Jasper represents District 12 good.
  2. Kountze won 16-11. Jasper was up 11-3 end of four and there wheels came-off in the fifth and gave up 9 runs.they will play in Kountze for the championship tomorrow night and hope both teams have pitchers left.
  3. Jasper wins 17-7  after trailing 1-7 through 5 and 1/2 innings Kountzes starter ran out of pitches and the wheels came off for them. Jasper scored 16 runs in the bottom part of that inning.
  4. if Spurger plays  a slow half court game and get back on defense they win by 5. if it is full court press with both sides ,Goodrich has the advantage. Spurger better win on home court because they have no chance in Goodrich. At Goodrich those refs call it as if they are home grown officials that will let the home team push, grab, hack, walk and travel without a whistle blown and your team will get in foul trouble quickly. The closer the game the more evident it is. I thought they might run up and hug the kid that put them in the lead against us. Shouldn't went there, it is just a fact.
  5. I once was an official and called it  like I saw it. in ways I feel for refs when one or both coaches are trying to intimidate you not counting the crowd. I only ask for some integrity in officials like not be intimidated and calling the way you see it. Also call it the same way all game (good coaches learn to adjust to your style of calling the game) not being wishy washy. I will show my displeasure with ho hum officials. also, i have had some adjective and adverbs slurred at me when I was a ref but I have no regrets because I called it as I saw it. I know most officials have integrity and call as they see it but in the smaller divisions sometimes can tell if the officiateing was or is home cooking or which kid the officials really don't  like. I wonder what would happen if a coach really knew he was getting the raw end of the deal and after a quarter or so just got his kids and loaded up on the bus and left. He would be in trouble for exposing bad officials.not trying to give any ideas.  jmo
  6. I was there and I agree. I thought it might have been a hockey game without officials. If  should have been a football game with all the blocking and holding ( no holding penalties were called and i imagine both teams would have been better off using sandlot rules). I forgot if I went to a basketball game , hockey game or football game. All I know is the officials must of had money on the home team. jmho
  7. This could be great bulletin board material for some coaches.jmo
  8. Congrats to Coldsprings from Newton fan. Bryan, wonderful job from you the  coaches and of course the atheletes. Very proud of everything happening in Coldsprings. You want to be mayor. lol
  9. CAMERON YOE ,I think you are probably as good as Daingerfield was last year. you have a tremendous offense and the defense is solid, not quiet as salty as Daingerfield was last year but definately good. you should win it all but I haven't seen Tatum or Daingerfield this year and they are  way better than us. jmo
  10. Congrats to Coach Barbay and staff. Darrell, your Dad is smileing on you and we are too. Big Jim
  11. congrats on your win. you are the last 10 aa team still standing. This coming week just do your best, Cameron is as good of a team as Daingerfield was last year. I thought we played them fairly good this week. They were just a tremendously good passing team and we were just out classed. They were bigger,as fast, and stronger which meant trouble for us. Just do your best and represent our district well. GOOD LUCK!
  12. Demo man ; Newton never makes it past the first round, sorry thats  what i see.      My reply to this statement is Newton usually makes it several rounds deep. I think you are a Newton hater and see an opening to let your simple mind show off. If this is the case go for it little dude because you sure don't know Newton football and its history.
  13. what a great tribute to a great man. Curtis was simply the Greatest.I hope you go deep in the play-offs as I hope Coldsprings does also. Darrell, man we love you guys and are praying for the Lord to be your best friend and comfort you,Mona,Kelley and Bryan. already said enough but all the memories are quality ones.
  14. the question is which Newton will show up. The one that was intimadated by a real good Kirbyville team or the  team it can be.against C-C the o-line was not as good as in the past and the defense was not tackleing as in past years. I think they will come out with something to prove and win 30-21. over here some of us older people don't have a clue which team will show up. We do have talent and it is up to the seniors to live up to there potential.
  15. last call I got was Burkeville 18-All Saints 0 middle of the third quarter.
  16. I do think that polls are good for the kids, communities, and coaching staffs, unless you get to be #1 with the target on your back. What an awesome problem. If your team is ranked in any poll the higher the ranking, the stronger the swagger with the boys and community. It can generate spirited practices and games with more meaning. It tends to get pride in the communities week after week. I don't care how everything ends up this year, there will only be 12 state UIL champions. If you win district, get in the play-offs or beat a team ranked higher than yourself, your memories of years past will always be there. anyhow, yes polls are a big reason for me to check on my team and some of our neighbors.
  17. actually Newton-Silsbee record is tied i believe. Silsbee won in 1921,1939, 1943,1947,1948,and 2006. Newton won its first game against Silsbee in 1986, my oldest son was junior on that team, then we beat the Tigers like 18-13 i believe in 1987 ( I know Mark Henry played on that team for the Tigers and what a great player he was) . I know it was Coach Barbay 100th win because all the team signed the football.Anyway, Newton won in 1998,1999, 2007, and we barely won last year. Great series between two fine schools. tT
  18. Prayers from Newton for her family and friends.
  19. Newton state championship teams of 1974, 1998, & 2005 In 1981 Newton tied Cameron in game and lost on first downs. Cameron won state that year. In 1989 Newton missed extra point against Mexia that let Mexia win.( very contreversarial miss, believe he made it to this day) anyway Mexia won state that year. In 2004 lost to Boyd in the Championship game. probably at least 10 other teams were real good, just injuries and bad breaks kept them from there full potential.
  20. it would be a toss-up between Todrick Pendelton and Anthony Byerly of Newton. K-ville had Larry Grissom, Bubba Bean and Butch Hadnot They were the best i have seen in our area. The best in Texas  was Earl Campbel from U T. Man, that brought back a few old memories. JMO
  21. I know you guys will be loaded next year and I wish the best except when we play you all. However,( I think ) the only way to state is through Daingerfield and they had some kind of talent coming back. I am not saying you cannot beat them, I am saying they are the best tackling team I have seen in a long time. They make alot of one on one tackles that our backs weren't used too. Again, I wish you the best but Daingerfield is the king until dethroned. I don't know which region they ( Daingerfield ) are going to be or us. I even saw where we might go to region 4. Anyway, I am just glad we don't have to play them in round 1.JMO
  22. Eagles from Newton pulling for the Wildcats.Hit em high, hit them low, Smashmouth football will win it all. Kirbyville 24- Pilot Point 22
