1. Like some of the BC posters stated, their mistakes cost them the game, they "beat themselves". I disagree.

Didn't Silsbee have 3 TD's called back due to "mistakes"? That's what I meant by the "80" post. If it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander. Those "mistakes" were the sole reason Silsbee did not score in the 3rd Q, 2 TD's called back in that Q. IF (don't like using it, but seems appropriate in this thread) those scores are not called back, this game is over by end of 3rd Q. It's a 49-21 game, not 35-21 at end of 3rd.

So was the last TD scored by BC a "garbage" TD? It had no impact. Silsbee led 41-35, then 47-35, then 55-35, then BC scores on 77 yard run making it 55-42, then Dontre breaks free on a 52 yard run trying to just get a first down to end the game. That one could be considered a "garbage" TD but a 13 point game at that time (over a minute left to play before he scores, BC with 2 timeouts left) is not really "garbage" time.

That title of that article is as unprofessional as it gets. You just don't do that in the media business. Particularly a game between two good teams, homer paper or not.

My "what" posts were more of a joke to a couple of posters but I admit, I got carried away and apologize for my behavior.

My so called "BC bias" is a figment of your imagination. I call it like I see it.

Good to see you caught your own "mistake", might need to catch some others. ;)

We can agree to disagree.

2. A member since 2008 and only 26 posts. Do you only post when BC is good? If so, that explains the 26 posts. Just messing with ya.:)

Nope...a lot of deleted posts over the years that never got submitted lol. I guess that's the computer term for biting my tongue...

My kids are Cardinals....I'm a Cardinal fan lol. I'm a Mustang and not many people on here wanna go there.

In all seriousness I was extremely impressed with Silsbee. A. Thomas is underrated. The rest were as billed.....Good Luck.

3. I tried to quote AAW's post at the bottom of page 6 but it's no longer there. Basically, it indicated that the "garbage time" touchdowns could end up helping Silsbee in the event of a 3 way tie for second. No disagreement from me on that thought process but here's my reply to the deleted post.....he was shaking his head at the term I used and asked who woulda thunk it.....so I thought I'd try one more time to explain it....

smht...shakin my head too...lol

I'll tell you what I woulda thunk...that a professional journalist that covers as much football as you do, would understand the term "garbage time" touchdown and the fact that it had no outcome in THAT game, which is what I stated. I didn’t say squat about it affecting anything else including playoff seeding. I used the term because the last 2 were scores that didn’t really impact the game. You made the misleading comment that Silsbee "coulda scored 80" and I replied in essence that the game was much closer than what you indicated it was. The final margin wasn’t indicative of how the game was played. It was a very competitive contest, but you tried to misrepresent it by popping off about scoring 80 points.

Look, I’ve been a member on here since 2008 and have read over and over and over your disparaging posts about all things BC. I don’t know the root cause of your disdain and honestly, I really don’t give a rip. I just know I can count on you to try to put BC down every chance you get. And for you to have the audacity to publicly call out another journalist on how he titled his column in a local newspaper only speaks to your level of “professionalism.” Then, to top it off, you go on a thread and reply “what” to every poster that had an opinion that differed from yours. That’s not just unprofessional, that’s childish. Is that what you wanna promote on this forum? Do I need to go back to your post and reply "what" everytime you've been wrong?

Congratulations to the Silsbee Tigers. They played a heckuva ball game and came and took care of business with the Cards. Will be a great matchup Friday and I could see it going either way. For me, I think it’s too close to call. Maybe playing at home gives Silsbee the advantage. Good luck to both and I’m just hoping 10 4-A has more success this playoff season than last and yes, that includes your Silsbee Tigers Mr. Sanchez.

Good day.

4. If it was a 6 pt lead with 5 min left in game. I would not consider what happened after that garbage time.

You are insulting BC coaching staff and the players, for how hard they played last night.

I'm not sure you're understanding what I said.... The snap over the head and the 53 yard run with a minute left are garbage time touchdowns in that they really didn't impact the outcome. That had already been determined...see above where I said hats off to Silsbee for making a clutch play. My comments are in no way insulting to anybody on the BC side. As a matter of fact, what I would call insulting to BC coaches is "Silsbee coulda scored 80"....I was simply making the point that it wasn't a beatdown as you guys suggested and  that there were errors made by the officials both ways and again, unlike most comments I've seen from that side.

And also as stated in my post above it oughta be a good one and good luck to both teams.

Peace out...

5. BC had 4 turnovers and Silsbeee had 1. That's usually always a recipe for disaster and it certainly was last night.

Let's reel all the "coulda scored 80" talk in though. The garbage time touchdowns were just that.

This was a 6 point game at 41-35 with 5 minutes left in the 4th and Silsbee facing 3&9 from their 23 yard line. D. Thomas was flushed from the pocket and A. Thomas catches a check down after cutting a blitzing LB and picks up the first down with the help of 2 missed tackles. This play was the back breaker and hats off to Silsbee for making a clutch play at crunch time. If BC holds there, it's punt time for Silsbee and BC takes over near midfield only needing 6 to tie it up and 7 to take the lead with only 4:30 left.

I'm not saying in any way that BC shoulda or woulda won this game but it was most definitely not a "beatdown" as these Silsbee posters would have you believe.

Should be a great battle next Friday for the title.

Good luck to both teams!

PS. Refs were horrible but for both sides. Silsbee clearly offsides on the kickoff that they recovered deep in BC territory. You can still see the kicker's white shoe behind the ball here and 4 guys from Silsbee offsides.....wait for it.....no flag.....

6. BC will be put back into reality friday night. They should not be calling that win against Kirbyville an upset! It was a good quality win! I feel like people are riding off of their 3 glory years... Now, I do hope success for both teams, but don't let a win over kirbyville make you think crazy. They are NO WHERE close to Newtons level this season. Being said, there will be a 4 TD spread. If I am wrong, come bash me on it!

Not gonna bash you on it because not many outside of the circle know what's going on in Cardinal Country. These boys have won at every single level since they started playing football. If you don't believe you don't belong.....

Good luck Newton the rest of the way!

7. If Ty Dennis doesn't get hurt then this outcome might be a lot different. People might not realize how big a difference he makes. From what I heard he had a concussion and a bad spinal stinger.

I've heard good news on the young man and that's wonderful. As a Cardinal fan, I was proud to see our boys circle up and send up prayers...to your point though, it was BC's defensive physicality that lead to the loss of the awesome weapon. The defense also made stops on 5 consecutive possessions.

In no way am I trying to minimize the injury so please don't take it that way, just trying to make a point that the defense rose to the occassion.

Continued prayers for Ty Dennis and believing for complete healing.

Good game Kirbyville and I'm still expecting a great season for the Wildcats.

8. bet is probably off since Kirbyville lost their best offensive weapon before halftime.

9. I will say that this unit is unbelievable. 9 goose eggs in 13 outings? WOW!
I'll be at Turner (although I've witnessed some tough moments in that venue) pulling on the 'Stangs.

It's anybody's game. Whichever team makes the least mistakes will win. Not only does this include turnovers but penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles, blown assignments, etc.

People on here always hating on the Mustang fans about living in the past, but you know what....it's nice to know that there is a legacy and a heritage that is unparalleled in this area.

Go 'Stangs!

Well finaly caught up to page 17.WO-S defense will have to come through one more time and keep the score low.We will not win in a shoot out with the rattlers imo.If we give up big plays early and are down by a couple of scores it will be hard to keep our focus.Seen us go into big games before riding on our defense and that hasn't turned out to well for us in the past. But I'm still optimistic because this years defense is by far the best I have seen at WO-S.

Let's not get carried away.......there are some 4A and 5A defenses that might diasgree......... ;)

11.   Dawgs of Blue....we waited as long as we could hoping the game would be played. Sorry it didn't work out. There was major lightening here and a late start wasn't an option as we have a full slate of games. If it makes you feel any better we cancelled the game after yours also as it was non conference. If You want to discuss it further feel free to give me a call.

Looks like you have a great team good luck the rest of the season.

Is Coldspring a one dimensional team?
Is Coldspring a one dimensional team as some posters have suggested? You will find 13 teams within the state that will object to that. Most of them got a dose of Gilbert up the middle, Gilbert left, Gilbert right, Gilbert pass route, and then you have Monroe up the middle, Monroe left, Monroe right, and Monroe in pass route, then you add Scott bootleg, Scott pitch to Gilbert on option right and then Scott pitch to Monroe option right and on and on. Now that appears to be enough to keep any defense off guard. You just have to pick which one it’s going to be. Then you really confuse things when Scott throws the ball, he has 801 yards passing and 7 TDs, not a lot but it gives the defense something to think about. Between Gilbert and Monroe they have rushed for 3131 yards, and scored 44 touchdowns. That is a long way from being “one dimensional”.
"One dimensional" as in they don't throw so clearly if you can force them to have to throw, then your chances are better.....not "one dimensional" as in one weapon. I'm well aware they have multiple weapons.

Even in your post you only referenced 2 pass plays, Gibert and Monroe on pass routes.....
Where I come from, that's called "one dimensional".....albeit very lethal.....
13. I've seen both of them and this should be an excellent game. Even with a 2k yard rusher in Gilbert, I have to give the edge to WOS offensively due to their versatility. Coldspring is one dimensional, you stop the run (not easy) you shut them down. WOS can hurt you either way.

On the other hand, I have to give the edge to Coldspring defensively. Extremely athletic in the front 7 and secondary plays great also. They simply don't give up the big play and WOS relies on it. They also "ball-hawk" and this could cause problems for the Mustangs since the TO bug seems to bite them.

Special teams edge goes to WOS. The Trojans field goal kicking is a crapshoot and WOS return game is excellent.

Should be a great ballgame....

I know it's a cliche but the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win this ballgame.
That being said.......
Mighty Mustangs....Go, Fight, Win!!!!!!
14. PN used an inelligible player, end of story! The President was notified during the 1st game (a 14-4 blowout in favor of BC) that a mistake had been made and he was certified incorrectly. They chose to continue to let him play and unfortunately, for Vidor, Port Arthur and Nederland, he helped eliminate them.

If BC was scared of this kid, then why would they not have called the other leagues and notified them of the issue? Ridiculous.

They were then given the option of playing the game without the kid on Wednesday night and they refused. In fact, they were told before the game that if he showed up, he would not be allowed to play yet he showed up anyway and PNLL refused to take him off of the roster. PNLL allowed a kid to play in Jr. ball (13 and 14) and make allstars in the Major division, which very clearly is a violation of the rules. MoFo quoted it earlier.

As far as BC not having their ace available...he never toed the rubber against PN the first time so there goes that theory. I feel bad for the PNLL kids because they are having to suffer for adult mistakes.

15. I have to agree that 4th and 6 was a little much on that wet field.

OF had the chance to pin the Cards back inside their own 5 yard line with only 4 mins left in the game. This would have forced BC to throw the ball and then you're talking possible safety and/or incomplete passes to stop the clock. They could possibly have gotten it back??

That one is debatable, but.....what I don't understand is why you successfully go for 2 on your first two conversion attempts and make it easily but on the third TD, you kick the PAT. Maybe he thought the game was over because I have to admit, I didn't like Big Red's chances at that point.

This too could go either way but.....what I really can't understand is not running a QB sneak with the ball at the 3 inch line. I think if they sneak it, they score and win the game.

Then again, that's why he coaches vocationally and I'm a wanna be. LOL!

Congrats to "The Pride" on a great season and congrats to Big Red on an incredible effort!
