1. Dre Dunbar was one of the best defensive backs to play at PNG in a long time. His shoes will be hard to fill.
2.
Look up how many guys Coach Griff sends to the next level plus LCM competes every year.
For this reason alone, he would get my vote! Griff does this every year. I wish I knew how many kids he got scholarships and opportunities to play college ball that would never had the shot going to any of these other schools. We are blessed to have a lot of fine coaches and baseball talent in SE Texas. Coach Griff is heads above every other coach in this department.
3.
A truly inspirational story. God Bless you Ted and the work that you are doing! Thanks for sharing this story with us.
"Work on being a good husband, dad, and leave a dent in the world for Jesus. Pretty simple, but that about sums it up!”  Amen brother!
4.
Throwing- Doty  PNG Scrambling- Gonzales  LCM All Around- Hughes  Lumberton
All of these guys are excellent athletes. It depends on who steps up to help these QBs look good.  Right now, I'm not sure who has the best supporting cast?
5. Y'all cut the Bears some slack. I'm glad to see the program on the upswing an fans excited again. They do have a lot of talent. I'm pulling for them to make the playoffs, but wouldn't go so far as to bet on it. 20-4A will be tough again this year.
6. I think this speaks volumes for both the boys and Coach Faircloth and staff. Congratulations to all!
7. Teachers ask questions and don't always like the answers                                                                                                                                                                                                        It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have                turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the            children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early                      dismissal.                                                                                                                                                                Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can              leave early today."                                                                                                                                                        Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart            and will answer the question."                                                                                                                                            Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"                                                                                                                      Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."                                                                                                          Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home."                                                                                                                            Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.                                                                                                                      Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"                                                                                                                                      Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."                                                                                                        Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."                                                                                                                                  Johnny is even madder than before.                                                                                                                                        Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"                                                                                                          Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy."                                                                                                          Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave."                                                                                                                        Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the              questions.                                                                                                                                                                When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these bitches would            keep their mouths shut!"                                                                                                                                                  The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"                                                                                                                            Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?"
8. As far as the Indian defense, I think Dre Dunbar will be missed the most. I haven't seen much of the JV, but there are some big quick kids that can fill the LB & DE shoes. I don't know about cornerbacks or safetys. On the O-side, of course Caleb Harmon will be missed, but I'm excited about those returning. This was such a fantastic year, I'm missing it already!
9.
McLane admits he nearly sold the Astros
I read that this morning. I also see where Nolan Ryan is working with a group to buy the Rangers. I wish Nolan would come back home to Houston! I STILL miss Nolan Ryan!
10. AJ25, I do not doubt your knowledge. You have made very informative and insightful posts here. I do appreciate your optimism. Me, however am a looooong suffering Astros fan. I guess I'm more of a pessimist now. I hope you are right and I am wrong!
11. As critical as I have been about the Astros, I have to say that Ed Wade has done good with this deal. McLane will not spend the big bucks to get another solid starter. With the limited budget, I think Wade spent the money wisely. This is not enough players  to win the division, but might be enough to keep them off the bottom. There I go getting my hopes up again!
12. Don't get me wrong, I am REALLY pulling for Lamar to get their football program going and headed in the right direction. I am much afraid that the gradiose ideas might sink the ship before it sails. I still have a bitter taste from when they canned the football program and tried to sell the school as an elite basketball university. Like it or not, Lamar is in a blue-collar town. The fans want value for their money. An expensive, losing program wont fly here.
13. A high school game costs 5-6 bucks. Lamar getting back into football is not like going to see the Longhorns or Aggies play. I really hope the braintrust at Lamar doesn't get too greedy and price the average fan out of the stadium. This is still a down economy. Folks don't have the extra money to spend, especially if the prices are over-inflated and your are not getting much value for the $.
14. Wow. That sounds kind of steep? Is that in line with McNeese and other same-sized schools or am I just that out of touch?
15. Y'all pretty much covereed it, but let me add a thanks to the band, Indianettes, cheerleaders, G-crew and everybody else who made the Friday night experience what it was! This was a FUN ride! Congratulations to all the PNG kids, staff and coaches. What a season!
16. This was an exciting game! Brenham came out playing hard and executing almost flawlessly. PNG played flat the first half, but came back in the second half and made a ballgame out of it. Brenham has a LOT of really good athletes. There were some odd officiating, but the calls went both ways. That is high school football. Good luck to the Cubs from here on out. Y'all make some noise for District III. To the PNG team and coaches. Y'all were awesome. You have exceeded everyones expectations and had a GREAT season. Really looking forward to doing it again next year.
17. Voted again. He is only 8 votes behind. Rally the troops bh89-2!

20.
The bottom line is that although PNG is a good team, they are not a number 3 team in my opinion, at least not so far. Maybe they will get better next week. I want them to win state, but to me they are nowhere near good enough to legitimately be considered a serious threat for a state title. Unless there defense improves and their running game improves, the first time they run into a team that has top notch offensive and defensive lines with a good overall team performance they are going to get a rude awakening. They are not good enough to run over a legit contender from what I see.  Thats not my hope, that's a warning. My hope is that they win the whole thing!
This is the same stuff that has been said all season. Every week, we get a new batch of believers on board. No, this is no the most talented team to come out of PNG. It may be, however, the best coached and best prepared. Every week these boys leave it ALL on the field. That is what has the Purple People so excited. Every week, they get it done. Sometimes, just barely, but they get it done. Don't bet against them!
21.
The PNG vs Barbers Hill game was a very cleanly called game. I sat on the PNG side and watched the game and I have never heard so much unjustified whining about ball spots, calls, non calls, IN MY LIFE. Almost every down that Barbers Hill had any sucess at all there were boos and cat calls going on all around me. Im used to some of that,, but man it was constant. With all due respect to my neighbors, just because its not going the way you want it to go does not automatically mean that the officials are cheating.
I never said a word Friday night, but a lot of the ball spots seemed odd. The calls went both ways, so there was nothing to whine about. I never heard any complaining or booing where I was sitting. Even though the ball spots may have been questionable, it didn't really make a difference in the game. Otherwise it was a clean and fairly called game. Maybe us Port Neches fans are missing our "home cookin'" referees. There has been NONE of that this year!
22. I am really tired of the political correctness argument about team names and mascots. None of the team names are meant as a disrespect to anyone. Some may argue that they are meant as an honor vs. a disrespect. Most of the arguments I have read on this matter, including the ones listed in the original post, are written by people who want somebody else to knuckle under to their own beliefs or agendas. gdickert, I have to ask: What are your reasons for posting this? What are your thoughts on this?
