1. Guess we'll see tomorrow night...
2. I dont know about the fumbles, but he did have a great leaping catch over a defender and a pick on defense.
3. That's aewsome. I'm going to pass this on. Thanks...
4. Well, here we go. I will say this. You are correct in your assessment that HJ's basketball program thrives. I'm going to put this out there, take it however you want. Within the next 4 years, HJ's Basketball (girls and boys), Volleyball, Baseball, Football, and Track will be represented in some type of state playoffs, or playoff tournament. Might only take 2 years for it to start happening. What you have coming in as freshman, is the largest class of boys in the history of the district and the girls have some of the best athletes to ever come through there. Mark this down, copy it, past it, whatever. Oh, and #52's little brother is also in that class.
5. Thats a shame. Supposed to be a "Moderator"...
6. I think its a stupid rule. Sleds are for strength and conditioning. Thats what the the 1st 4 days are for right?
No argument there.  Especially the '76 team D3zii mentioned in the first post.  Those were some bad cats!
I seen them play..To this day I still think that was the best team ever hands down, right above the French team :)
1984 French High Buffaloes - We had so many weapons. Mark Guilbeaux at QB, ran a 4.4 in the 40, Soph Willie Williams at wide out, Melvin Turner at TE, Kieth Wycoff at Wide Reciever, Paul Jones at RB, Robert Keil at FB and the #1 defense once in the playoffs. Each one of these guys scored multiple times. I still have a newspaper clipping where Kimble Anders (Galveston Ball, LSU??, and KC Chiefs) said the French defense hit harder than anyone he had played (up to that point). Also, another clipping that was an actual compliment to all of SETX ,said that we came out of probably one of the toughest districts in the state.

Jasper scored 16 runs in the bottom part of that inning.
Kountze's pitchers walked in 16 runs in that inning, Jasper didnt really do anything. In that game Kountze had 14 hits and Jasper had 3. The Jasper kids had no hits untill the 6th when Kountze's starting pitcher had to come out. Thats right after the 5th when the Jasper kids sacrificed strike-outs to get Kountze's starter over the pitch count. I say sacrificed because the coach kept walking up to the score keeper asking where was he on pitches. When his pitch count got 90, the announcer for Jasper let the coaches know how many pitches he had left over the loud speaker. Kountze didnt get that courtesy. Jasper hitters were getting the take sign on 0-1, 1-1, and 2-1 counts. Same last night but Kountze pitchers were throwing strikes so it didnt work out so well for Jasper. Anyway, maybe the coaches over in Jasper will have a little faith in their hitters tonight. I bet those boys could hit if the coach will let'em. Maybe the game wont last till midnight like it has the last 2 times.
First of all you must not have been watching very closely we were swinging on first pitch to not get behind in the count.  NO ONE sacrificed a K to run up his pitch count or was given a take sign. Jasper lead off the 2nd inning with a hit. Kountze had only 5 hits in the 1st game Jasper 4 hits 5 errors. We the Jasper coaches were making sure on OUR pitchers pitch count to save them in case of a loss. P.S. I think we have faith in our hitters our 13 yr olds have been to the state tourn the past 2 years.
4 hits in the 1st game? What game were you at??? They did hit the ball well in the 3rd game. Guess taking all those pitches in the 2nd game, and it not paying off, was enough to let the boys swing the bat. Great group of boys, just let them swing the bat!

11. Yea, I only added the scorekeeper 1 time per 2 games. Your looking at around $2200 for ref's alone. Queenbee, be sure and make up for it by bringing in some snacks and drinks in your purse. That also helps the league....... ;D ;D ;D
12. The refs are $50 per game per ref. Two flag games = $250 (two refs plus score keeper). Two junior games = $350 (3 refs plus scorekeeper). Two Senior games = $350. $950 in refs alone plus trophies. We're supposed to be happy to give to our youth organizations. ;D
13. I know the folks that run almost every league in this area with the exception of Bridge City, (used to be Roy) anyway. Just this year my board and I suspended a coach for 1 game for arguing with parents. Didn't have another problem. He is one of the best guys you'll ever meet but when someone questions your manhood, sometimes its hard to bite your toungue. We have banned 2 families this year from our league because of unruley behavior. We have decided to rid ourselves of people who do not respect the code of conduct set forth by our league. LoneStar has one, as does STJFL. I know Mike Minton and Danny, and know they would not intentionally give a person a coaching job if they had known something like this would happen. I feel the same way about Lisa and Roy over at BC (if they are still involved). There is a body for these coaches to answer to and the STJFL has spoken. Its a shame because I have spoken to some league officials and the guy from Lumberton is supposedly an upstanding citizen who we (HJ) probably would have given a team to after checking his back ground. Nothing anainst the guy from BC, just dont know anyone who knows him. Being the president of our league, I've been cussed at, accused of cheating, accused of running a good ol' boy system, not playing kids where their parents think they should, racism, and just plain ol talked too like I was an old maingy dog. I'm sure the rest of these board members have been through times like this at one time or another but they never through that punch. This is what I was talking about earlier, don't judge all the leagues or even Lumberton or BC for that matter. A coach made a stupid decision in the heat of the moment and now he will pay for it because he has a league to answer to.
14. This is bad for youth sports everywhere. The authorities have evidence, let it go. These are two wonderful towns. Why slander their names for the sole purpose of entertainment? Why have people look down on youth volunteers for the sole purpose of entertainment? Because a handfull of people could not control themselves? If you have any video of this, do Lumberton, Bridge City, and all people involved in youth sports a favor, and keep it too yourself. How many times does this happen in a season? There are so many good things that come out of youth sports to let 1 bad incident crumble it all up. We, as league officials, do everything we can to rid our leagues of problems like this but sometimes things fall through the cracks. There is no reason that Mike Minton should have to go on tv and defend his league or himself for that matter, after all the years of volunteering and young lives he's impacted. We come on this forum and talk a little smack, air out some frustrations, and say things that probably need to be said, and things that probably do not need to be said. But it is a forum, supposedly freedom of speech, yet when things get a little heated you lock it down. Now there's a good news story on here and all of a sudden we need to talk about it. My opinion is, this is bad for everyone. If I had a video of it, I'd burn it...
15. I thought our Jr. Hawks were going to pull it out. Excellent job guys (and gals), ya'll are so much fun to watch. That was really a good football game, back and forth, fumbles, big hits and all. Congrats to the HF Longhorns Jr. Team. As for my Seniors, a perfect 9 - 0 season! I will say this, Claude and JP are excellent football coaches. I see why Deweyville is in it every year. Very, very classy organization. Those kids are well coached, hard hitting, aggressive young men, and they never gave up. I have to say though, I have the two best coaches that anyone could have on my sideline. Jeff Edmonds and Mical Padgett are teachers of the game and I was fortunate enough to have them on my side. Great season LoneStar!!!!
16. Yea, that red and white every year has gotten old, I think this year we will add some blue to it.... :o :o
17. By the way Barry I hope you are polishing that WishBone cause when we snap it you might have the short side. We don't need much, just a small crease...... ;D ;D
