1. I dont have a dog in the hunt. I was just speaking in general and from experience in another district. I'm assuming that the community wanted someone else because thats what 8888 said in his earlier post.
2.

it is so obvious that this guy will be in & out of Anahuac within 4 years, once again our district acts as a spring board to bigger jobs. They had two choices that would have put down roots and been here a through good times and bad and  stay and build program. Im sure that Coach Murr is a good coach and will do a fine job but the community had made it clear that they wanted stability, Barnhart and the board new they were not acting with the communities interest in mind because I was told that they were so proud of thier decision that they felt the need to keep his name quite and sneak him in the back door (litrerally) under the cloak of darkness to rubber stamp his hiring.
I didn't know that the community got a say in the hiring of a new AD.
They kind of do, they elect the officials that are supposed to be listening to the community and do the right thing. Its a shame that board members dont listen to the community. When we say community i assume we are talking about an entire school district but when it comes to these kinds of decisions you only have the 30 or so people that have kids involved turn out to voice their opinion. The boards say "community" but to me thats a cop-out because the 99% of the community that do not have kids involved at that time just dont care enough to voice their opinion. Thats where parents like us get bit and dont have a leg to stand on.
3. I know the kid. Has just made some bad decisions like any teenager. I hope he packs up and comes back home to good ol HJ...
4. Didnt see these listed but HJ Freshman Greyson Padgett hit his 1st against The Woodlands Christian Academy last month, HJ Freshman Aaron Edelmon hit his first last week against Hamshire Fannet as did HJ Senior Colby Bledsoe.
5. True that! But Hj still being mathmatically in the hunt, they will probably empty the barn also!!! Good luck to both!

Arguing a HBP.  Umpire didn't award base when Silsbee player got hit
Wow.... Surely he got a warning first.
Must have called him a ............  ;D ;D [Hidden Content]
This was the same Blue that knoked the hat off of one of the silsbee players head a couple of years ago at a allstar tourn. in jasper and when the coach went to talk to him.  he started pushing the coach . It was all caught on film and he was banned from calling little league games. He has always had a thing against silsbee. terrible blue. he should be banned from it alltoghether. and this was from being there and seeing it. Not hearsay
I thought he called a great game last night. Strike zone was consistant throughout the night. Only questionable call was when the Silsbee hitter got hit by a pitch, he didnt let him take his base. That was not a game changer in any way because two pitches later the kid hit a double. That was really the only time anyone got on him.
7. Well, I saw Colby pitch against HJ this year and the kid was awesome. I didnt have a gun on him but I would guess he was somewhere between 80 - 85. Curveball looked nasty. I've met Colby once or twice and he is just an all around great kid. He has worked hard and deserves everything good that comes his way. Congrats Colby.                                                                       Barry Edelmon
8. All three freshman on HJ Varsity are doing fine. All 3 start and are in the top 5 of all HJ's hitting catagories. Richardson was actually "Player of the week" last week, Padgett hit his first Varsity Homerun, and Edelmon's ERA after 12 innings pitched is a 2.9 with 13 K's. Of coures he has walked some too but he is only a freshman...The main thing is they are no longer "Freshman", they have been accepted by the upper-classmen as "teamates". Its really cool to see how much the HJ baseball program has improved this year. I see good things in their future.
9. Love being the underdog... Cant go anywhere but up... Better watch them Hawks baby....
10. Tell that to the Heisman Comittee, or the kids that have ever won an MVP. Go back to the soccer pages dude...
11. Hold on... Your telling me that someone on HJ's team was the #2 tackler in the district? I went to every game, my son started on defense and I cant see where we had anyone close to that... Someone is padding stats or I guess it could be because we never had the ball. All those 3-outs... Where are these stats officially logged? I'm curious to see how accurate that is... I know for a fact the ones on maxprepps are totally wrong. I watched every game and studied every game film with my son and those stats are'nt even close to being right.
12. Or, you can let the powers that be know you are on to their political crap and hopefully next time they will do the right thing and go ahead and reward the child for his hard work and determination instead of screw him... Especially a team surrounded with so much negativity, one of the few bright spots should have been rewarded for that...
13. Yeah, I was being sarcastic... Its still a shame. I heard that also about a coach saying he plays dirty but I was at every game and never saw Joe get a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. I did see him play till the whistle blew and kids get mad and try to fight him but never did I see Joe throw a punch or get ejected... As a matter of fact the only play I saw that looked dirty to me was when HJ played Bridge City and Bridge City had a player ejected for a massive helmet to helmet hit on a defensless HJ reciever. I wonder if that kid made 1st team?
14. How does Joe Person from HJ not make 1st Team Offense? Who voted on this crap? 2nd team All District as a Soph, 1st Team All District as a Junior, and second team defense as a Senior? Only kid on the whole field going 100 mph till the whistle and not even mentioned on Offense.... Thats crazy... Whoever voted on this should be ashamed of themselves...
15. I dont know about the whole Silsbee line but the Defensive End #54 is one of the best I've seen.
16.

You work with what talent you have.  HJ is not that deep in talent.  From what I hear they have a few Freshman playing on Varsity.  Tough when 14 year olds are playing against 17-18 year olds.
I think HJ has a lot of athletic talent in every sport.  As far as 14 year olds playing 17 & 18 year olds, I completely agree that you are right.  No matter the age though, talent they have. Experience will come.  :) The true test will be if this young group is the same in a few years, and the coaches are the same. We've seen what this group of younger kids is capable of, so, it'll be interesting to see what's done with them.
Well, There are 2 sophmores, and 2 freshman on HJ's Football team. The 3 that play defense accounted for more tackles than any 3 juniors or seniors against Silsbee. 4 of the 5 touchdowns that were called back against Bridge City's left tackle last week were holding calls against a freshman. And to this date, knock on wood, not one of them has limped or had to be carried off the field.
You work with what talent you have.  HJ is not that deep in talent.  From what I hear they have a few Freshman playing on Varsity.  Tough when 14 year olds are playing against 17-18 year olds.
As far as Freshman are concerned, these boys belong. They have proven it. The Silsbee announcer acknowledged it Friday night that #54 was working hard for the Hawks. 9 tackles is not 2 shabby for a freshman defensive end, especially against a team like Big Bad Silsbee... There are only 2 freshman on that HJ team and both have proven they can play with the Big Boys. Our other Freshman made the only touchdown we scored against Bridge City and it wasnt an easy td, he had to fight to get in. He was also HJ's player of the week against Fannett with 6 tackles, the only TD, and 2 pancake blocks. I can think of 3 other freshman that I would bring up and thats not counting the injured one, that is probably the best freshman of all. Don't blame it on the freshman, thats not where the problem lies...
18. I like that. Thanks for posting the rules for me....
19. You are correct Kat, but whats the point of your post? Don't I also have the right to put my opinion on here? Or are their rules about who can post things and who cant?  I dont see "moderator" by your name, so why are you spouting out rules? I'm sorry Kville_Kats, what am I allowed to say on this open forum? Please let me know soon because I have some more things I want to post....
20. My son plays at HJ and he has said nothing about the field being burned other than "hey dad, someone burned a HF in the middle of our field". I dont think it is that big of a deal as you all are making it out to be. HJ's football program is in a bad place right now. The older kids are so used to loosing that they have developed a "loosers mentality" if you will. During the summer, when the coaches have no control over workouts, with the exception of opening the weightroom from 7am to 7pm, but you only see a handfull of kids there and 90% are Freshmen. So now we show up un-prepared and out of shape and start our season. So now, we loose a game and its time to blame the coaches. Then you have the parents second guessing everything the coaches do and relaying this info to their children. In the mean time, the coaches wives are setting in the stands having to listen to upset parents saying hurtful things about their husbands. I think the negativity starts with the parents. Get your kid to the weight room and start some off season training. Also, weight training and conditioning does not have to stop because football started. There is nothing like running the stadium stands for a football player. The negativity that is in those stands every Friday is spreading like a cancer. I tell my son every day when he goes to school, "be positive, yes sir, no sir to every coach you come in contact with, listen to them and do your best to please them because its going to pay off".  There are too many parents in the stands griping about who's playing where (which I am very guilty of), why freshmen are on the field (there are only 2 and in my opinion 4 more that should be there starting), why we are running this play, and "he better not yell at my kid". We have to get a hold of it, do our part as parents to get our kids prepared, and stop blaming someone else. And maybe, just maybe, we can shut up all these football critics with nothing better to do than get on a site like this and slander a bunch of kids.
21. You guys are funny. HJ has some young freshman athletes. And when they get to the Varsity level... This website will be singing a different tune. Enjoy it guys....
22.
The problem with all the penalties was that several of them were down right wrong.  After watching the video it was even more obvious.  #24 is ejected for a helmet to helmet hit.  Only problem was he didn't make the hit! Not denying that a flag should have been thrown, but if you are going to eject a player know who you are ejecting!  Had the officiating crew merely  been real picky would be one thing, but BC's defensive rushers were being tackled regularly with a very few flags being thrown.  This seemed to be the case of the officials trying to protect a weaker team.  No doubt H-J sees the same actions from some officials when their basketball teams are clearly superior on the court.  H-J kids never gave up and played hard all game.  These officials lost control of the game early and were very clumsy and inaccurate in trying to reestablish control.  Everybody including players, coaches, and officials have bad outings.  I am sure these guys are much better officials than they showed last night. :P
Bridge City was holding all night. Wouldn't have made much difference in the score, but those ref's could have called holding on basically every one of Bridge City's offensive plays. Looked to me like only the really obvious ones got called which were the runs that went by the tackles for touchdowns.
23. That's better than last years actual score. Hopefully HJ will keep it closer than that...
