  1. That will be interesting, I say Evans will end up with him, but may not want him.
  2. Yeah I really like how the cast was secret until "someone" leaked Kimbo's name. Dana probably called up his buddy and said you send this anonymous tip to the news and away it went. I can guarantee you that Kimbo does not fight until at least episode 3. It will be against someone that he is able to defeat just to keep the interest. White is a shark.
  3. Getting a little ugly in here. But seriously where did you get that he was insinuating anything from that his own kids took the tests as freshman. Temper temper!!
  4. Last night two boys who graduated from Tarkington on Friday lost control of their vehicle and neither one lived. I know that community will be hurting and we need to pray for the families of the two boys. We need to remember that these next days ahead are some of the most likely times for unfortunate things like this to happen. I don't know much other than what it said on www.i-dineout.com about the accident. My computer won't let me post the link. Lets keep all of our kids in the area in our prayers this week.
  5. Bisping has acted like a total tool on the current season of Ultimate Fighter. I always found him to be slightly over confident but he has been acting downright idiotic this season. Overslept for one of his fighters fights, complaining about Hendo wanting to change workout times when he has the right to do so and the water spray thing with the American fighter. Bisping needs to learn a lesson and I hope that Dan can teach it to him. I hope that the next show does have countrymen fighting each other just because it looked like that was what Dana was wanting and it pissed off Bisping.
  6. I can't wait for next weekend, lots of great fights on hand and most of them are for free.
  7. Here is my two cents about this. I was watching the new reality show with Michael Irvin on SPike where he is giving some guys a shot at being on the Cowboys roster this year. He timed their 40's in pads after they had just gotten done doing windsprints and drills and then said that this was the real 40 time they would use in a game anyway. I agree with him. I know that in high school football especially the kid that can move laterally with quickness is more dangerous than the pure break away runner. Sure once you get in the open field the sprinter is going to pull away but he has to get there first. One of the best players I ever saw was a kid who never cracked lower than 4.65 but when he had the ball in his hands he was magic. I think he had consecutive 1000 yard seasons for three years in a pretty darn tough district at the 5A level. This kid could turn on a dime and make you look silly trying to catch him, almost like a mini Barry Sanders without Barry's strength.
  8. Riggins was headed to San Antonio but I though Saracen was going to some school in Illinois for art or something.
  9. I know plenty of kids who want to go big time who take their SAT and ACT as early as possible so that if they pass it, it is one less thing in the way of qualifying them in college and if they don't pass it they can still have more chances. I know a couple of Freshman who have taken the SAT before.
  10. Good job, I know that it gets depressing when I play golf because mentally I still feel like I am in my twenties and shot in the 80's because I played all the dang time, now in my near 40's and with more job responsibitlities it is a great day if I shoot in the 90's. But I am vowing to play more and hit more balls this summer to see if I can get back some of my skills.
  11. Yeah, go Lions!! But like I said, as far as feeling bad about the coach getting shafted on his job he did it to the guy that replaced him when he left for Texas State. But I can't wait for season 4, but I have read that Matt and Riggins both are coming back again for season 4 even though both have graduated and I thought were off to college. Should be interesting to see how they write that one into the script.
  12. REgardless of his ranking, I love Machida. The dude is a great fighter with a very unusual style to fight against. I was jumping off my chair when he knocked Suga on his butt Saturday. Was disappointed with the Hughes win, would have liked to see more from Hughes than he did. I think he needs to retire before he tries to avenge his last two losses and gets embarrased. Alves and GSP will mop the floor with Matt, he is past his prime. As much as I hate Serra, other than the few cuts on the face he really did not take much damage.
  13. Did a little research and the content ratings for FNL is TV-14, usually with the D,S, L and V attachments along with it for suggestive dialogue, sexuality, language and violence. My point is that I know that TV-14 means that a child under 14 should not watch it without a parent or guardian present, but why would I want to expose a kid who is younger than the rating system suggestions to stuff that I have to explain to them about why it is stupid. I have to do that enough as it is. Let our kids stay kids as long as they can, because once they lose their innocence it can never be replaced. I also don't want to mislead anyone, I was not an angel growing up. My parents let me see some things that they did not think was that big of a deal and they had their own defined limits of what I could and could not go to see in a theater or on TV. I did sneak into movies like we all do and stuff like that. I am just saying that I am not a fan of exposing kids too early to things.
  14. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and yet another reason why we all need to enjoy every moment we have with our kids because we are guaranteed nothing. I am going to go hug my little one right now.
  15. Okay, well lets look at this last season and see exactly what I am pushing. I can tell you that I agree that yes the second season got too soap opera like with the whole murder thing. But let us just look at the main characters on the show this season. Riggins, star football player and total drunk and a kid who laughingly through the first three years prided himself on having girls do all his work for him. Not to mention how he is now living with his girlfriend in his home with his other drunk of a loser brother who can't ever hold down a job. Not to mention all the times throughout the last three seasons he goes to bars and strip clubs underage. NOt to mention how he basically told the freshman starting QB this year that he was a wuss for not "getting" with the girl who was flirting with him. Lyla, the on again off again Christian good girl girlfriend who dumped Riggins and then got back with him and moved in. Lyla's dad Buddy, head of the booster club who had an affair on his wife and in one of the last shows was arrested for getting into a fight with an "invester" in the Landing Strip strip club, the same place Riggins has been known to frequent in earlier seasons. Buddy is also a man who is a liar and a cheat who promises kids and families things to get them to play in Dillon. Real upstanding family man. Matt, one of the only really admirable characters as far as the kids go. But still ended up having premarital sex with the head coaches daughter as well as his maid/caregiver for his grandmother. But he does take good care of the alzheimer's stricken old woman and has had the stereotypical crappy life of the hero of the show. I could go on but I made my point. It is not a show for kids. You read the shows information and ratings and it tells you as much. There are a lot of things that we all know go on in the real world and while I like the show and watch it quite often it is also something that I would not and do not let my kids watch. I had to explain what a stripper was to my daughter last week because another little girl in her class told everyone that she was going to grow up and become one. So I am aware that kids today are being exposed to more than they need to be. My main point is to air on the side of conservative values when it comes to our kids.
  16. Not trying to get on the soapbox COOP but how can you tell someone that this show is appropriate for an 8 year old? I am well aware that stuff goes on that we can't sheild our kids forever but really, an 8 year old should not watch this show. I know that I don't let my 8 year old watch. Not to mention the fact that there are scenes inside of strip clubs, teens getting drunk all the time, etc. I mean I know that this stuff goes on, always has and unfortunately probably always will. Totally have to disagree with you on this one.
  17. Not unless you want to let your kid see a bunch of teens who are very sexually active and getting wasted at parties. It is not as much about the actual game as it is about the crap that goes on outside the game and that goes along with being a coach in a high pressure situation.
  18. I like it but there have been things that they have had in the story lines that do not really happen or at least they don't happen the way they portray them. Like the booster clubs in most schools are not quite as powerful as the one in Dillon. I mean I know that this is a take off of the former MOJO school situation down in Odessa and I know that situation was very over the top. i realize that it is a tv program so they definitely dramatize and over play some aspects of being a coach in Texas. Plus, like how they handled the whole coach that replaced Taylor and then was fired in the first few weeks of a school year and bring in the old guy would not have happened without some kind of a lawsuit from the outgoing coach who was getting canned. I think that the way they portray the kids though are dead on in most of the towns that I have lived in though.
  19. Machida in a close one, Hughes over Serra in unanimous decision Xaver over Drew in 2 rounds Sherk over Edgar with TKO in 2nd round Shonnen over Miller
  20. Boxing and MMA are not apples and oranges because of the fact that both of them are combat sports. I am not saying that the fight did not generate more money that a UFC event will. But as far as boxing being a science, if you are insinuating that MMA is not then you are wrong. I am a former wrestler and I can tell you for a fact that MMA is as much of a science as boxing. I can also tell you that, in my opinion, that just because lots of people paid for the fights does not make boxing great. Plenty of people pay to go to NASCAR events and that still does not make it great. It makes it great for NASCAR fans. This fight generated lots of support for people who love boxing and that is great for them. Most truly intelligent MMA fans like myself do not discount boxing as it is one of the components of MMA and a very important one. But I for one am talking about MMA being better than boxing for the fact that the fights generate more "water cooler" talk where I am than boxing does. I mean I can tell you for one thing, that next weekend's fights between Serra and Hughes will get talked about by my friends more than Pacman and Hatton did. As far as soccer goes, like I said the guys are athletes no doubt but it is still boring to watch. Yes I have been to live games and seen them on tv and they are boring. Does not mean I begrudge people who like it. I just don't want to watch it. Another big reason why I think that boxing is not followed by the younger crowd like it was when I was a kid is that there are not enough dominating Americans in boxing anymore. Tyson was a freak but he was captivating to watch. People would tune in to see if he could knock out an opponent faster than the previous time. Holmes, Ali, Frazier and Foreman all had major battles in the rings. AS did the smaller fighters like Leonard, Hagler and Hearns and Duran. But in the heyday of my youth there were many more great name boxers. The same can be said for MMA right now, there are so many good name fighters in the MMA organizations. But for whatever reason, could be that I have been into the martial arts most of my life, I enjoy watching the guys from other countries also like Machido and GSP. Did not mean to give any impression of disrespect to boxing or apparently the soccer guys on here so I apologize if what I wrote was taken wrong.
  21. I am not saying that it is dead but it is not nearly as strong as it was 20 years ago. I am 38 and can remember back when I was a kid even my mom would watch when Hagler or Leonard or Tyson, the list goes on, would fight. You got much more for you buck not to mention that the big fights were on cable like HBO and not PPV. I remember watching Larry Holmes fight on more than one occasion on TV before PPV ever started being the major venue. MMA is the fastest growing spectator sport in the world. It is inevitable that people are going to compare it and its popularity now to boxing which is its closest competitor. Stop using the soccer crap as an arguement. The majority of the people here in the states that pay attention to it are either Latino or immigrants from places in the world where it is played more and has been a part of the landscape forever. But here in the USA it is not followed by thte majority of the sports fans, does not make it a bad sport but just a boring one. I for one am a fan of the athleticism it takes to play it but would rather see football or basketball. Soccer is just like Hockey, the biggest matchup in the last few years only got a very minimal rating on Versus last week and it had the two biggest stars in the game. A rerun of any sitcom gets the same rating as that series did. Boxing is great but I repeat what I said earlier. MMA fight cards will have anywhere from 5-10 fights being seen for the same price that you get one or maybe two boxing matches. The MMA fighters are always way more accesible to the fans than boxers are now. I am not saying that if a good fight is coming on that I would not watch boxing but MMA is a better product right now
  22. The reason why people say it is dead is because unlike the UFC and other MMA organizations, boxing promoters have shied away from the heyday of the 1980's mentality of pitting the best fighters together. Most of the recent fights are not that great as far as matchups. I grew up loving boxing and still like it but it is not as exciting as MMA and even on a bad card of UFC fights you still get to see more fights for your $50 bucks than most boxing PPV's. Just my two cents worth. If more boxing promotors would put show together like this one boxing can and will be coming back stronger.
