1.
I've been watching the Mavericks all year and this hasn't been a season of dirty football, late hits etc... We have kept our composure and played very well.  They are lead by one of the best Christian coaches you can find anywhere.  He has touched these kids life with simply being fair.  My son came to Manvel from another powerful 24-4A school and we felt at home immediatedly.  I'm proud of the Mavericks, the staff, the band, the spirit that's came alive around here.  But honestly we came to win a football game not a popularity contest.  PNG kids realized that this will not be an easy game and start wining to officials begging for calls etc... Just watch the film!  Mavericks showed up to win, not to be intimidated by the PNG players nor the mass following sitting in the stands.  Now quit complaining and come route for the Mavericks against LaMarque.  You are welcomed to wear purple!
Again I ask have you "Watched the film?" ::) I love the fact that because our team is predominantly white, we are racist! ::) I would consider that a racial slur in itself!!!
 2. UT by alot! We play no defense, they do. Well. UT 52 LU 36 HALFTIME UT 102 LU 64 FINAL
 3.

I swear PNG fans have on blinders. Any game I go to, I can find bad calls, no calls, 'dirty plays' etc.. One of the offensive lineman for PNG was playing dirty every play at the nederland game and never got called for it.. Its just football.. This is the reason i don't go to png games when they are in the playoffs.. png fans should be proud of where they got to considering how the season started.. Quit whining.. You're just making yourself and the entire PNG fan base confirm what so many of us already know...
Seeing as you are a bulldog fan and talking about how a lineman played at the PNG/Ned game, you might have had on a few blinders as well.  It is easy to have on blinders when you are watching your own team. Anyways, we are proud of the way our team played this year, coming back from such an adverse beginning to the season.  Looking forward to 2011.
You explained my point perfectly even though you don't even realize you did... You look for the other team to play dirty but you have selective vision. If PNG loses a close game, then the other team cheated, or they played dirty, or the refs were terrible. Its never that they got beat by a better team.. I'm not saying all PNG fans are like that. I have personal friends who support PNG and will admit when the team gets outplayed or outcoached.. But regardless.. You made my point..
Go back over all of the posts in this thread and find one were an Indian fan said that the chippy play or anything other than the fact that Manvel was a better team is the reason PNG lost last night. You won't find it! We all admited right off the bat that they were a deeper more talented group. Also you will notice that many of the PNG faithful realized that our team did some stuff last night that we all would like not to see again. We took some shots as well. Both teams got chippy, just so happens Manvel got caught more.
 4. It all starts up front. This is were PNG will have the biggest challenge in replacing. If you can believe it PNG may actually big bigger up front on offense with Nicotre (6'2 260) Reasons (6'4" 270) Stasinos (6'5" 250), not sure who will fill in the other two spots, but those three are big. The losses will be tuff because they were key leaders like Lunceford and Langois on the OL and Easley, Thompson and Schexneider on D. And anytime you have to replace a record setting QB like Doty, it's tough! Returning players *2010 Starters: 8 (3 Offense - 5 Defense) ** 2010 Significant PT: 6 (3 Offense - 3 Defense) WR *Nelson - WR **Lacour - OT *Nicotre - OG Reasons - C ?? - OG ?? - OT **Stasinos - HB **Hanks - WR ??                                                                      QB Miller - RB *Bertrand CB **Hollier - DE *Davis - DT ?? - DE **Grantham - CB ?? OLB *Louviere - MLB ?? - S/LB *Peveto - OLB **Segler                    S *Sperl - S *Romero
 5. Got no problem with the Manvel battle cry. I mean really PNG folks, we yell "Scalp 'Em Indians, Scalp 'Em". And we love it! It's just a battle cry! Let's not be hypocrites. Our team lost to a better, deeper team, that has some discipline issues that will eventual cost them when they play a team that makes them pay for it. We let our emotions get the best of us last night a few times as well and it cost us. Remember folks, Defense wins Championships and neither team last night was very good defensively. LaMarque is very good on defense. I see a LaMarque W and yet another LaMarque state title game. Not bad for one of the smallest 4A schools in Tx.
 6. Without a doubt one of the tops. If they get two in the title, then yes the best, but honestly they kinda got a wash in round 2. HTown football is pathetic. District 25 would get my knod as best. LT is the 4A king and CP already beat 'em once. Now they matchup again in the QF. Should be a good one. I see LaMarque beating Manvel and Callalen/Beorne and making the title game though. FWood on the other hand has a tuffer road and I don't see them getting to the title through Montgomery, then the LT/CP winner.
 7. Congrats to the Alvin Manvel Mavericks. they were the better team. Good Luck to Alvin going forward. To fatmav, the PF calls were not "bogus" on either side. The officiating crew actually called a very good game and I believe it was back to back PF calls on a PNG defender that was the swing in this game. For the first time all night PNG had pinned the Mavs back next to their own goal line on the opening kickoff of the second half and had made a couple of good plays on 1st and 2nd downs, when we made a couple of critical mistakes and Manvel took control of the game for the next 12 minutes. As far as pulling all the starters early, your coach did pull his starting QB for two plays, but #9 the TB that was tackled for the safety was in and out of the game all night. He was not some 4th string kid that never plays, and the starting O-Line was still in the game. Manvel was able to pull a PNG on us last night with it's depth. We tend to have better quality depth than most teams we play because we have large numbers in our porgram for a school with 1400 students. Last night Manvel was able to subtitute in and out all night and not skip a beat which helped to wear us down in the third Q. Gotta a little life in the fourth. Proud of our Young Men and our coaching staff. Gave us all another great year of exciting football and tons of memories. Couldn't ask for more.
 8.
Manvel is just too solid all around. Athletes everywhere, good coaching and battle tested in district 24-4A. I know match ups often dictate games, but seeing what our 6th place team, Texas City, did to PNG earlier in the year, Manvel is too much.    Manvel 35- PNG 28
Yep, we lost to TC and the side judge!!! Worst single official I have ever seen. Go back and read the PNG TC threads. TC's game winning FG was aided by two fantom Pass Interference calls with less than 30 seconds in the game. Central beat the hell outta Livingston and we lost to Livingston by 2. Beat Central by a bunch though. So go figure. Hopefully this will turn out the same. This will be a very good game. May be another last one standing game.
 9.
dude....im not being serious.   This was a comment that was made about Humble this past friday.  i was merely interjecting as was done to our thread.
I made the comment that the best team did not win Friday Night...Let me clarify, line these two teams up again and again and again (Central and Humble) and give Central Humbles coaches and Central wins again and again and again. Centrals coaching staff did not take advantage of Humbles weaknesses. As for Saturday night, both coaches took advantage of the others weaknesses and the better team won. There was no real "aha, that was a poor coaching decision" moment. Also to the PNG fan that complained about what you called an illegal forward lateral for the TD by Willis, this was not an illegal forward lateral, just dumb luck and it happened to occur two plays after the dumb luck catch after a batted pass. The play was legal. By rule a fumble can be advanced by a player other than the one who fumbled on 1st through 3rd downs. Only on 4th down is it illegal for obvious reasons (not wanting people to fumble on purpose if they wont make the line to gain). The fact that the fumbled ball never hit the ground doesn't constitute it being a lateral since he was not throwing the ball, it was stripped. Just unlucky on our part!
 10. One of the toughest districts in the state...It stinks that they get HTown walkthrough in round 2 each year. Of course they usually have a pretty tuff round 1 matchup with the Angleton, El Campo, Lamar Consolidated, Bay City group. As far as 24-4A vs 20-4A pre-district matchups, we usually do have in some way. PNG vs TC, Central vs Ball, Nederland usually plays FWood and we have both played Lamarque pre-District in the recent past.
 11.
so the PNG Indian dancer gets to dance on the field, all the way to 50 yard line, yet this thread was started because Willis ran out to the middle of the field fired up to play a football game. what's the argument? come on man...
The Indian Spirit Dances on our side of the field only and directs every thing toward our fan base. I can tell you have been to very few PNG games. The point being made is that when you show no respect for your opponent, you stand a good chance in loosing due to lack of focus. You tend to do stupid things that cost you. Last night was proof!!!
 12.
Thought the Willis' train they would do when they kicked off was really cool.
If they hadn't have stolen it from Brenham who was in their district last year, it may have been cool.
 13. I got no problem with the midfield pregame gathering. Iy was the taunting that was disrespectful. The key for me was that it didn't stop there. It spilled over onto the field with several late hits and cheepshots. Those are things that a coaching staff can and should have stopped before playoff time when it can really hurt you as it did on our last drive when a Willis kid took a swing at one of ours after being pancaked (legally). That was a costly 15 yards in our game clinching TD Drive. Had the Willis staff stopped this early it wouldn't have happened in a crucial time of the game. PNG versus Vidor got a little chippy and Doty did some taunting after a TD. Coaches pulled them all to the side and put an end to it sternly. Havent seen it since.
 14.
First game was actually scheduled for 2PM saturday but was moved to Friday because of the football game. And the game couldn't have been scheduled for Thursday because the first day of the season was that Friday.
Others played before that Friday, maybe not any Southland teams
 15. If this team wins 2 outta 3 this season then they will have won 20 games and finished 11-5 in conference with all these returners next year. I'll take it. They didnt shoot well yesterday against a pretty good team and still had a chance to win. I like their odds of winning 20+ as they should improve as the season progresses. Really looking forward to seeing James. When is his debut?
 16.

all the talk about FBS..moving to the WAC or  the Sunbelt...take away the 4 teams that are jumping the sinking WAC ship.....none of the other teams in either conference has a winning record... if we were to ever move, I'd prefer the Sunbelt,  cuz of the cajuns...but these 2 conferences suck!
agreed.  Plus we need fan support.  the last 2 games attendance was disappointing.  the two wins at the end of this season should set us up with a lot of momentum heading into next year.
WB, PAM and PNG playoff games had alot to do with this. Like I've said before, like it or not, but SETX HS Football is King and will allways take precedents over LU Football, but you can't schedule LU football around HS Football so it is what it is. As far as LU basketball, I have to say that Roc could schedule early season BB home games around HS football. Not sure why he would schedule the home opener on a Friday Night??? Easily could have scheduled it on Thursday
 17. Maybe you didn't see it from your side of the stadium, but your players did way more than huddle at midfield. If that's all they had done, I wouldn't have mentioned it as I have no problem with that, but I'm here to tell you SouthPaugh, they were pointing fingers at our side and and taunting our players on our side. It wasn't just one or two either, it was about one third of the team. And our players went through our run through before Willis did and were already on our sideline when this all occured. The officials had to go out to midfield and stop them. Thats why the officials stood at midfield during the entrances in the second half. Argue all you want on this one SouthPaugh, just calling it like I saw it. I think youll find in the morning when they wake up, that I wasn't the only PNG Fan that felt like Willis showed very little class! I have not seen a team act like that in a long time. But hey like I said once you begin to dissrespect your opponent...you get what you deserve...YOU GET BEAT! Other than all that it was a hell of a game!
 18.
you guys are hilarious. Both sides got chippy tonight. We were flagged more but your players weren't innocent. You had a defensive player kick our #65 after the play and the official missed it. Your coaches whine about every freakin call that goes against them. We lost. We can handle it. But don't call us thugs. Be better winners than that. Your team was no model tonight. Congratulations and good luck. Here's to a rematch next year.
Thug wasn't the word I used, but whatever works for you. It all started with the opening run through when your group of Fine Young Men ran to midfield and taunted our side. They got lucky they didn't start out with a 15 yard penalty. Officials had to go out and turn them around. Good Luck next year!!! Kepp disrespecting your opponents and see where it gets ya!
 19.
I give props to number 4 jayce nelson...heck of of game going over a 100 yards receiving with a td...and 2 crucial 4th down conversions
He's been money all year long. And our OLine was blowing Willis off the ball as well.
 20. Funny how all those Willis cheapshots came back to bite 'em in the end. The personal foul on #56 for taking a swing at #55 for PNG after he was pancaked on that last drive. How about when the Willis player had the blatant face mask take down of Jalali, wrenching his neck, then stood over him taunting him as he was hurt on the ground. To the guy who stated that Willis had class, I call BS!!! That was the dirtiest team I have seen in a long time! Now on to Manvel.
 21.

The flag on the Jag TD with a minute left was a heartbreaker... To go from TD to 2nd and forever That's an emotional high and los within a matter of seconds... I just knew we were looking at a 28-27 Jag win...
Dont wanna make excuses but was it a "phantom" flag or was it a good call? ???
There were actually two flags on the play. One was Holding which I saw as Mitchell went around the edge, the end was wrapped around his guy, but it was declined because it was a ten yarder. The one that was accepted was an ilegal block below the waste (15 yards). Didn't see it, but I agree with Soulja, it had to have occured away from the ball. The Mo changed on the muffed punt, but I thought the game was lost on Centrals first possesion of the second half after Humble went down and scored to tie it at 14, Central Ran for 2, Ran for no gain, then ran for a yard on 3rd and 8 ???. Not sure what the Central OC was thinking, wasn't like they had been running wild in the first half. Other than Heards one TD, the only other rushing yards they had were on QB draws and scrambles. Didn't utilize it until it was too late.
 22. Jumbotron at the Butch during the Central Humble game said that the PNG Willis game time is 7:30 This site had the Central Humble game starting at 7:00, but Kickoff was actually at 7:30 I'm confussed???
 23. Sad for the kids. Mitchell could have had 300 through the air and 100 on the ground had the staff adjusted. Should have had Mitchell rolling out to give him some options. On the defensive side Central should have went to a 4 man front and stuffed the run. Make Humble throw the ball, they were not very good through the air. QB was inacurate and lofted some throws. #33 was all they had. Make the QB throw more and Central picks a few off!!! Can't believe that Humble team beat Willis by 31. Wonder what we will see tomorrow night? Future is bright for Central if Mitchell is utilized correctly. Needs a QB coach and some time working on timing on all the throws. He had WR open deep all night, but waited too long to throw, but he was making the right decisions most of the night which is impressive for a young QB. Good Season Jags. See ya again next year.
The better coached teams, are generally the better teams.   ::) Does it ever dawn on yall at all that maybe WE didn't play up to par? that WE weren't executing?   So extremely one-sided on this board its incredible.  its SETX or nothing.   i try to be as fair and balanced as possible when discussing things, but yall make it hard sometimes.   If we, and could we's don't win games.... We were down 14....Central was in position to kill us.   We fought back, caught a couple breaks....cleaned up our play...and won. (ITS WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO) geez. the worst ones aren't even Central fans.
Callin' it like I saw it. I think if you went back and looked at my posts after games you would find that when we get outplayed I state it. Nota homer
