jeffcoat got a reaction from jv_coach in Parent files civil lawsuit against Carthage
The school and many around town absolutely knew about this. The same way they knew about the coach and student(s) relationship during the 16 championship run.
In both cases they were just hoping it would go away.
In both cases they were way wrong.
Justice often takes time.

jeffcoat got a reaction from Booster in Jasper vs Salado
Saw last weekends games and saw the tourney run by Shawn's boys.
If I remember correctly back in 07 Jasper had a bunch of sore arms come late playoff and State Tournament time and they had to drastically change they way they had done things for most of the year to play to a new found strength. That's the sign of great coaching. We've got that again here.
From what I saw last weekend this Bulldog team was much better than a very good Robinson team. I also saw both games vs Hudson this year. This years group is solid.
Now the above is coming from an old man who now resides in Carthage but the one true difference between the two teams sits on the ring finger of the 07 players and coaches from Jasper.
Hopefully by the end of next week we can call the two teams equal.

Makes absolutely no sense. Great candidates have been contacted and interviewed, great facilities, great tradition, and yet they cant get a head baseball coach in Jasper. Makes no sense at all.

The parents??? You gotta be kidding. Thats where so many of the hs problems arise from.
At the high school level the coaches coach, the kids play the game and the parents pay the taxes.
They dont even enter into this equation.
Good Luck Coach Stadley at GP. They just got a lot better.

Great game last night.
Carthage's pitcher made one mistake and that HR was a bomb. I know from the end of last year and their game 3 loss to WOS in the semis to now Carthage felt that this was about to be their year. They were returning their entire team from that WOS series.
They had their chances but McMillan was just too dominate. He is a beast.
Great game go Dogs!

jeffcoat got a reaction from JUMBOTRON in Woodville new AD starts off bad
Work em out Im all for that, but you cant work them out to a point where it changes their throwing motion because they are sore or tired from that workout.
Again, they have a great staff. Ive heard nothing but great things about the AD Head Footballl hire. Like I said I just hope that he has enough faith in himself, his X's & O's, and his ability to lead that he lets his coaches coach and he gives their programs the utmost respect. The same respect that he will demand for his program and authority.

Point is is that they have got a great staff and Im sure that the new hire is excellent but the UIL discourages football coaches from lifting kids in other sports on game days. As a fact I know that football coaches dont lift their own kids on game days they sure as hell should respect their own coaches and kids enough not to do it to them.
For baseball heavy lifting on game day could cause a pitcher or infielder to become somewhat tired and change his throwing mechanics slightly which could lead to shoulder or elbow issues. Low weight high reps or a bunch of pushups no matter how often they have been lifting will for sure cause the players arm to be sore the next day again resulting in a significant or slight change in his natural throwing motion which we all know can lead to arm issues.
They are #1 in softball baseball is going great. They have excellent coaches and kids that work. Im sure the new AD/football coach will also be great. Lets just hope that he respects the other programs and is comfortable enough in his own skin to them them coach.

Gonna go against the grain. I believe the first half is where the blowout will occur. 41-13 Dawgs at the half. Carthage starters will get a break late in third quarter.
Anything can happen but it wont happen tonight in Tyler .
Good luck to all, both teams stay injury free and safe travel for everyone.

jeffcoat got a reaction from OldBuc77 in TOM WESTERBERG HIRED AS NEW BARBERS HILL AD/HC!
Ive seen Carthage play for years.
Every offensive snap they go to the line with 4 plays. One run to either side and 1 pass to either side. The kids are taught to read, make protection calls and make the call with whatever the defense gives you. Its all about teaching the kids
If youve got smart coachable kids you will win and win big

Live by the flip and die by the flip.
Horrible way to do things with the stakes so high. With 4 teams in the playoffs in Round 1 the UIL ought to let the higher seed dictate a 1 game or a series. After the first round then the flip can come in.
Kolek's little brother is also a very good pitcher. Saw them play once and he pitched. Their hitting and defense will come and go as will many high school teams.
On the mound they are a beast of a draw.
