  1. So what you guys are saying is IF Vidor White where to beat a very good WOS team this coming Saturday they would finish the season tied for 1st place in their division with a 3-1 record. But if they don't win by at least 14 points they would not make the playoffs. WOW!
Question?  IF Vidor white squeeks it out against WOS and Lumb blue loses to OF, who would go? Lumb Blue would be 4-4 and Vidor White would be 4-3 having the better winning percentage so I assume Vidor would advance. Help me out guys.
  2. Bbmom, just for clarification, the rule we were talking about yesterday was an old rule and had not been updated for this year. Changes were made to the by-laws and what they say is that a junior kid may play up in seniors if he is over the maximum weight for juniors but must still abide by the weight rules for runningbacks in seniors. This kid has an unlimited  max weight in seniors as long as he playing up but must be weight eligible to be a runningback. Otherwise, he is  LO.
Hippy is correct, the STJFL board has contact info on the website. They can explain it better than I if you still have questions.
  3. Bbmom, it is kind of misleading. A kid can move up 1 division due to weight and can play any position until his age catches up and he is age appropriate then he must play according to weight.
For example, an 8 year old who weighs 130 has to move up to juniors because peewee cut off is 125. He will play with no position restriction, he could be a runningback in this instance. The next year he is now 9 and still weighs 130. Now he is age appropriate for juniors and now by rule has to be LO.
Hope this helps. Oh, also according to the rules on the website, no kid can play in a division if he is over the maximum weight for that division. Example, according to the rules on the website a 10 year old who weighs 170 couldn't move up and play seniors because he is over their maximum weight rule of 160. Like I said, hope this helps.
  4. I think there absolutely needs to be a run rule. The kids are not learning anything when they are getting beat by 15 or more runs. Some of the guys on here have said they have come back from big defecits to win games and that is exactly why you don't let up which could cause the score to get blown up even more.
Also, I have been in attendance for every game in Vidor during this tournament and there were some games that were runaways. This causes parents and coaches to get upset about things that normally would not bother them and the frustration is always directed at opposing coaches. I talked to 2 PONY directors in Vidor yesterday along with a couple of umpires and all were in agreement that it should be fixed for next year. Hopefully it will be. Good luck to the final 4.
  5. Big Congrats to Coach Matthews and his program. Nothing to hang your heads about after this one. Coaches did one heckuva job and players played their hearts out. Defense was AWESOME other than a few plays. You guys were hittin' people. Pittman, Tate, and Peevey GREAT effort guys. Took some big hits and kept getting up for more. Great Season from the entire team. I look forward to seeing Dohzier lead this team back to the playoffs next year! Well done Coach Matthews, keep doin what ya doin! Also good luck Broncos! Keep it rollin'!
  6. Wow! I just realized from looking at the records above that the top 4 seeds have 1 loss among them and 3 of those teams are from the same division. Gonna be a good tournament! I agree Plank, Lumb Red appears to be the early favorite but there are about 5 or 6 other teams that may have something to say about that. WOS is for real, they struggled for a couple of games (kept winning) but appear to be rollin' again. PNG Purple is very talented, well coached and disciplined. Vidor Black is salty, no quit in them boys. Ned White is much better than their record suggests. PNG White is very talented, well coached and could make a lot of noise. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THE TEAMS IN THIS THING! I'm just glad that flag doesn't have to deal with the stuff thats goin' on in PeeWee and Junior.

  7. Ozen, no harm meant to you guys fom us here in Vidor. I remember a few years ago Ozen was in Vidor and I was helping work the concession stands on the visitor's side. After halftime I stood at the fence in black and gold on Ozen's side with several men from Ozen. We won a tight game and those guys were awesome to watch the game with. Very knowledgable, funny, and didn't make excuses for the loss. Very classy guys! Good luck tonight Ozen!

  8. WAH, WAH, WAH! Mommy, I just don't understand how those poor, pitiful, slow, inbred boys from Snuff Gully could beat us and on our homecoming! WAH, WAH, WAH! GET OVER IT! You lost to a good football team, now you need to worry about the next game. I know the Lumberton football team isn't whining about what should have been. They are getting ready for the next battle. The Jags are comin' for you!

  9. Great post LR1969! I wish we could all see the game the way you see it. Last week 2 good teams played each other, both made mistakes and got penalized, somebody had to win, somebody had to lose. I think all of those mistakes had something to do with the team lined up across from them, for both teams. Central and Lumberton will be the same way. Fewest mistakes wins this game. Good luck to both teams. Wish I could see it but we've got some business at the boneyard Friday night.
